TFW Toddy ignores Reikland invading Middenland and charges across a vampire occupied empire to besiege your capital with two armies.
There are a lot of things to hate in the total war games this is easily near the top, how the CPs hard focus the player.

@@Whatever4690 They thought that was a problem with Attila, so they removed the AI's permission's to colonise the burned world. It just resulted in one of the most subbed mods being to allow AI to occupy raised territory :P
So they left it in here, accept yea, that's pretty much resulted in the hyper-aggressive AI jumping on any opportunity to f*** over the Player(s) xD
they won't on normal difficulty this on very hard where all the ai is op

Plus getting wrecked on the battlefield and being final transmuted into a metal statue, which sound cool until you realize birds will shit on top of your head for centuries and you and your fellow transmutated soldiers will be forever remembered as traitors and losers.

The Vampiretide: something we never thought we'd see, then the DLC hit. It is nice to see Vlad and Isabella live past turn 30 though, now you can actually get their good traits
For real ! I am having so much fun repelling vampire hordes against the empire as gelt or karl franz .
It wasn't at all uncommon to see vampiric domination in WH1 and some of the earlier builds of Mortal Empires. Vampires didn't always suffer until Empire got their elector counts update that allowed the AI to quickly confederate the Empire and subsequently crush the Vampires between them and the Dwarves.
I'm playing dwarves and on one side of the mountains is strength rank 1 Clan Mors and the other side is strength rank 2 Sylvania.
I actually like it. Empire growing tot 70+ settlement monstrosity is extremely tedious to deal with when playing as any other faction that gets into war with it.
Every time when I play as the bad guys in warhammer and i start close to the empire, i try to harras them and make the vc stronger cus ive had enough of the ordertide

@@bogdanleshenko7149 At least true if you're playing a race that can spam archers. Line of sight based range untis can't really be spammed effectively though.
@@cHaMp630 yeah personally I hate gun line units because of their line of sight issues, but if you checkerboard them with your melee it turns out ok and lessens that failing..
@@KamikazKid Exception being skaven anyway because they can abuse overpowered plague priests to spam summons which the enemy will gladly tarpit around in the middle of all your shooting.
i don't think they are too crap. just that melee job is sorta to go in and die in games like this. while other stuff are the big game changes. cavalry should be stronger tho.

That first underway battle against the spider banner orcs - I've never seen so many spells cast in one battle. Now I see why Gelt is so good. I don't think even Teclis puts in that kind of work.

Gelt would be better if all of his spells weren't the worst in the game.
@@jackdaniels4975 It's probably why he has some of the worst spells. Although I agree, he'd probably be a little more popular, especially to those who don't even know what he's good at, if upgrading his spells on his skill tree did a little bit more to buff them on the higher levels. I'm not saying a colossal buff, only something that would bring him one or two slots away from the bottom of the list "best lord" list.

Oh no, Teclis does more than Gelt. AND his spells are good, very good.
I agree with others, Gelt is a super good mage with bad spells.

While I loved seeing Gelt destroy an army, this made me realise that the lore of metal really needs a buff. The amount of time he casted a spell and got 2 or 3 kills was too high.
I think metal is one of those lores that is a lot better in multiplayer than campaign.
Searing Doom is bad against infantry because the bolts don't do enough damage to 1 shot models and they get thrown around on the ground instead, dodging damage. It's way better against cavalry and clumped monstrous infantry because those take full damage. Hounds are OK for cost, just very unpredictable. People underrate Plague of Rust, it's great for focus firing.

Well...the lore of metal is less about damage and more about debuffs, like others are pointing out. Think about it, Gelt even frequently says "armor melts" while you're playing. But I do think final transmutation is a bit too expensive normally. It's fine when Gelt is casting but other metal mages have a hard time justifying its use.
@@rovers141 the trouble is, overall buffs and debuffs aren't very effective in campaign compared to damage spells. Well set up damage spells can kill hundreds every cast and completely turn the tide of battle, while buffs/debuffs are just kinda there. Nice to have sure, but not turning the entire tide of battle as good damage spells are. Metal honestly just needs buffs, gelt can use it but any metal mage is kinda pointless. The rust spell should maybe have an aoe or take off more armour, final transmutation as you said really needs to cost less, the hounds could use a small buff, maybe some more damage? and maybe searing blaze could have a larger aoe.
The other change that is more personal preference than anything else, but perhaps final transmutation could actually turn people into gold statues? Would be quite amusing if nothing else.
This needs a part 2, yikes. At least get Wissenland back.
Agree, legend has been scrimping on the disaster battles recently. He always says he is busy but never really explains what takes up his time (aside from the 7-8 hour livestreams). He is certainly not spending the time buying underpants!!!!
michaellynn8 I don’t think you should underestimate just how much time and energy it takes to livestream constantly for hours on end and do videos constantly and sift through hundreds of emails all requesting your attention. Maybe the dude wants to have some time away from always being busy and spend time with his wife? I don’t know for sure but he isn’t a robot and people seem to forget that, let him do whatever he wants, he doesn’t always need to be doing videos and doing live-streams, dude has a life aswell.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me recently when I started a Gelt campaign. Vampires everywhere and no money. Then I start a Vlad campaign and I have no money and I’m getting trashed by Averland, which has 2 armies with way more campaign movement for me so I can never catch one alone and can’t defend my towns. Shit us frustrating. Also screw Pistoliers!
At 11:40 when you try to feign a charge, you need to do that from behind. Then they turn around and brace for the charge. Repeat doing that on a subset of their army to stagger their forces.
Video should be re-titled 'Gelts quest to get arcane conduit while simultaneously letting the dogs out for a walk and turning dead things into gold'

It's really cool to watch you do campaign disasters in addition to battle disasters. Also super helpful since it gives us an idea of interesting macro strategies, tricks, and tactics.

Yeah, i myself started a golden order campaign just today. It was no hard difficulty. By turn 10 i killed off the spider ork tribe and Vlad already destroyed averland and took the Moot. Luckily i managed to lure him in with force marching my army near him and then kill him off and then i just returned Averland to glory and thus got my imperial authority back. It seems like the vampires are kind of a pain in the arse now. It was doable on hard, i cant imagine how hard it would be on legendary.
It's definitely what it should be like now with Skaven, Greenskins, Vampires, in early game (Norscans still need to return to TWWH1 glory in my opinion, they don't harrass brettonia and northern empire as much as they used to). It used to be that the old world was completely dominated by Imperials and Bretonnians. On Legendary most order factions are stronger, especially the dwarfs. Ordertide still usually wins by turn 70 anyway, from my experience, but at least they're delayed now for the player to keep up.

This always happens with my Empire Campaigns. Also Build Morters. Gunpowder and steel counter the undead.
Handgunners, xbows with hellstorm battery punch out a ton of dmg really quick.
the way I go with Franz is, first thing I do is decalre war on the vampires, that takes the pressure off a bit of the other provinces because they will try to come to you through untainted territory wasting a good couple turns, meanwhile I squish the rebellion and take marineburg in about 4-8 turns and then just straight away beeline and take over the Moot and Averland because by this time it's more than likely to be captured by vampires, use them as a place to replenish and as a shield to the vampire tide. I had a run where 22 turns in I actually owned Averland, Half of Stirland, the Moot, all of Sylvania and Gelt was 1 point away from joining. I got fucked by a chaos army spawning around turn 45 they just went through everything like hot knife through butter....
Opened this and saw turn 28 and I realized I’m not alone in this Campaign being a massive pain in the ass.
Also if this dude just survives for somewhere in the realm of 22 to 32 more turns Franz is going to get off his ass and curb stomp the Vampires into the dirt. Happens every single time in my games.
Not always. In my most recent campaign I watched in disbelief as the VC took the whole empire by turn 50.
Not mine. Vampires eliminated them all pretty quickly.
@@iainmcdonald5375 I've played as Azhag and Gelt probably 20ish times between the 2 of them over this past month and pretty much every single time without fail the VC knock out Averheim, Weissenland, and Stirland and around turn 50 Franz and Karaz-a-Karak start their confederations and beat the VC back to their starting location. The only time the Empire and VC hit a stalemate was when I pushed out of the mountains as Azhag and destroyed Ostermark and Talabecland.

A third of the Empire has been conquered by Vampires, and Solland is barely holding on...and Middenland decides that invading Solland is more important than dealing with any of that. For fuck's sake, this AI.
Now I wanna really play as Gelt in the empire. Good thing I uninstalled the game so I can actually get stuff done.
Gelt should get a money bonus any time he uses Final Transmutation in battle, what with turning things into solid gold. Just fluff-wise, that's my favorite spell.
The VC are actually a significant threat? What is this, TWW1?
No , tww2 after last DLC, they are strong again, as they were in the very first days of mortal empires, till the ikit patch

Recently did a Gelt campaign and it went something like this at first. Hand gunner + hell blaster stack wrecked the vampires for me.
Such an obvious way to get around hindered replenishment that I'd never have thought of. Love it!

Tip, if you overcast final transmutation you get double the duration (and therefore damage) for less than double the cost!
Yes but as he said in the video, the longer cooldown from overcasting simply isn't worth it

Gelt is probably the best empire lord by far. In late game I have soloed multiple stacks of armies getting 4000-6000 kills per battles. It is really time consuming though because his spells are just awful but he makes up for it with how good he is at everything else.
gelt is very underrated
Loses settlement to vampires, hostile orks appear out of nowhere, and beastmen declare war all in one turn. Dang, you couldn’t write this stuff, what horrible luck lol

Yes, but I recommend starting as Karl Franz. Whichever legendary lord you choose to start as is locked into their original office as elector count, and being elector count of Solland sucks. You'll want to eventually appoint Gelt elector count of Wissenland for those sweet, sweet artillery bonuses.

Golden Boy.. would make Isabella some nice ear rings smelt them -The off set for us normally are the incursions by the dawi. or manfried heading towards the boarder princes instead and then greenskinz over the mountains. with the improved green gobos from the west u are surrounded?

On my latest dwarf playthrough the empire was dead by turn 20.... hadn’t even discovered them and couldn’t help like I’d normally do lol
I made the mistake of prioritizing a couple of other things before dealing with the vampire counts in a Gelt campaign. I now have -6 imperial authority at turn 50 and Sylvania is currently Strength Rank 1.

I love these types of situations cause if your good enough you can go from broke and stupid to 20g’s in two turns with your enemies on the run

People whined about the Ordertide on Mortal Empires and one of the things CA did to "fix" this issue was to massively buff the Vampire Counts campain AI, which made them a lot more aggressive.
Although this mainly applies to Mannfred and Vlad because Kemmler's still in snooze mode.

what if you try to take wisseburg, give it back to elector and leave it so vampire will take it again, and retake again, do that until your authority back to green
that doesn't work. if you give back wissenburg you get +1 authority and if they get killed you lose another 2.
The new vampire aggressiveness makes it impossible to play as Gelt

man i feel this guys campaign, i have started 2 golden order campaigns in the last week or so and on both the vampires have taken out Reikland by turn 25 and own the entire center part of the map, its insane. In one of the campaigns they owned reikland by turn 15, how are they that powerful all of a sudden?

I had a campaign on very hard diff with gelt where the VC declared war on me quite early and ignored prettymuch every other EC besides Averland (which, get rekt pretty early) and I literally spent almost the ENTIRE campaign going back and forth against them, by turn 80-ish I've managed to completely wiped them off of the map, but since I was so busy fighting the VC I've not paid much attention to anything else, and when I looked the world was in a pretty... odd situation, thalsen (that woodelf faction) owns the entirety of reikland, middenland owns the oak of ages and Marienburg, kislev is gone, replaced by a combined wissenland-ostland territory, clan angrund owns ostermark, nordland owns half of Brettonia and the ENTIRE NORSCAN SETTLEMENT.
do they buff the VC to act as a pop control against the empire faction or something? lol, it feels like I just witnessed the aftermath of some weed party that I'm not invited to

I know there is almost no difference, but it always bothers me how legends leaves his flying lords in the line of fire of his archers, the damage is probably minimal and so is the shielding for the enemies, but I’m always like “just move him a inch to de side and he will be fine then 😫”

It´s kind of silly how hard Gelt has to work for those kills, Gelt needs a player with a lot of patience. A single Winds of Death can net double the kills of what Gelt is doing in 30 minutes.
The one thing I hate about Gelt campaigns against the VC's is that Karl does absolutely nothing about the vampires even when they are marching through his empire destroying elector counts. What's the point of being emperor if you aren't even going to defend your territories. Come on man, help me out just a little bit

I'm glad I wasn't imagining their sudden aggressiveness. I think the biggest issue for Reikland is that Manny gets 5 settlements right off the get go, so as Empire you won't even be done crushing the succesionists by the time Manny the Man Child starts pushing West. At least as Gelt you can bitch slap Vlad and put the pressure on Manfred whereas Karl has to just watch as the incompetent Elector counts get devoured by the Vampire Tide.
Yeh Vamps wiped empire on my campaign.. yet gelt survived. My waaggh was passing by and he decided to sass me on the diplomatic screen...

gelt is the supreme metal wizard for a reason
20% base cost reduction from the start and another -2 from the Loremaster skill. Gelt doesn't have the best spells, but he can spam some of them for the entire battle.
I think the player screwed up a bit by not getting Glittering Robes. That spell has magic of 0 if you have the Claok of Molten Metal.

You have to make a b line for the temple and drakenhoff as early as possible.
I've also found, don't put Gelt on his flying mount until AFTER you've dealt with the VC otherwise he will always be attacked by every VC flying unit they have. Keep him on the ground early on.

Empire and VC are longtime enemies, so it makes sense that their unit rosters would try to counter each other.
I never understand how campaign goes so wrong within 30 turns... First thing i notice in many of this early game disasters is that they dont have recruited heroes at all, like HOW? Especialy now you can get hunter and generals in first 15 turns for sure!

Gelt is like a red mage in Final Fantasy in terms of damage output . Does little magic damage with his spells, but he can DoubleCast!
