- Some years after the death of Doc Holliday, Wyatt was quoted in an interview as saying, "Doc was a dentist, not a lawman or an assassin, whom necessity had made a gambler; a gentleman whom disease had made a frontier vagabond; a philosopher whom life had made a caustic wit; a long lean ash-blond fellow nearly dead with consumption, and at the same time the most skillful gambler and the nerviest, speediest, deadliest man with a six-gun that I ever knew."Download oin this chann/Users/jeffreyschreckler/Desktop/License_823483 - 2022-2025-2.pdfel to get access to perks:

Shoulda got the academy award for best collection of mustaches outside of italy,
They should've cast Tom Selleck in the movie to guarantee a win.
You’ve never been to Turkey it seems.
@@damiencerutti6269Comedy thriller, imagine Donald Trump wearing a big Turkish moustache and then recieving an academy award for making America great again...
@@joemckim1183 Haha! Yes, forgot one.
@@ericcarson342 Kurt Russell's mustache is nice here but it has nothing on his Hateful Eight face furniture.
The reason why they gave Doc the 2 barrel shotgun is because Doc has a perk equipped that adds +1 bullet.
It can be argued that after the firstshot, he reloaded that one round as the camera did turn to someone else. This is what I tell myself to enjoy the movie.
I read that Doc killed all of them.
Shotgun also applies fright to nearby livestock when used with Doc
I know what you are thinking. Did he fire 3 shots or only two?
Well to tell you the truth watching this video I kind of lost track myself.
I guess the editor felt lucky.
He fired only 2 shots, just the change of camera angle showed two shots twice, making it seem like it was 3
Best Val Kilmer role of all time.
The way he shrugs off the cloak and goes in aiming is SO badass!
Jim Morrison. Doors. That was really something.
he was dope also in Heat.
He has a moment in -Felon- 2008...a voice over sequence that is sublime, but it is 2nd to this materiel.
Heat.
Everyone else: Tense, jumpy, understandably nervous.
Doc: Calm. Winks.
It's because he was already on deaths door. He'd rather go down with guns blazing
Doc owed that guy for running his mouth when he had his boys with him. Doc unloaded on him.
This is actually historically accurate
I can definitely do without the end part covered up with next video recommendation #stopcovering
That’s right, Doc is already years reconciled to his mortal end, and seeks quick violence in preference to slow strangulation. The Earps do not share this extreme, but know full well the risks.
I know this is going to sound weird, but Dc H in this movie saved me as a kid. I wasn’t very big and for lots of reasons very sickly as a child. I remember watching him (as a teenager) say “I’m in my prime” and just channelling so much internally to say “make the fricking best of it!” I know it’s cheesy, but real story that made a meaningful change in my mindset back then. ❤️
words can change lives
You're still do not lose that mindset!
Love it my dude..
Dude this is what the TH-cam comment section is made for. I was small and sickly as child too. And 38 years old now, hell I still am. But it's the guys like you and I that pack the biggest wallop and fight to the death. Love the comment man
Did you confront your bullies with a "I'm your huckleberry"?
The back story to Doc saying "That's a hell of a thing to say to me" is that The Earps father was Doc's lawyer when he was accused of murder, which he honestly did not commit, here in Missouri, Fredricktown to be exact, when the Earp boys when were just kids and Doc lived with the family, back in those days when the accused made bail they were generally remanded to the custody of their lawyer, Doc lived with the Earps for 19-20 months while waiting for trial and while the trial was going on and became an extended member of the Earp family, In the movie when Texas Red asks Doc "Jesus Doc you should be in bed, why the hell are doing this?" and Doc says "Because Wyatt Earp is my friend" is a misqoute, According to Texas Red Doc actually said "Because Wyatt Earp is my brother", supposedly they changed it in the movie because it would take too long to explain and it would detract from movie, thats why at the end of the movie when Doc was laying in bed dying Wyatt squeezed Docs hand and said "Goodbye Brother, see you down the road".
Taking one hell of a risk putting so many power moustaches in such close proximity to each other.
This is how the Gordian Knot was originally tied!
Only mustache missing is Tom Selleck's 😂
It's like crossing the streams
Love: "That is a hell of a thing for you to say to me." So much said in one sentance.
Yep, and reportedly Holiday actually did say that in response to Earp that day in real life.
Vergil: "Hold! That's not what I want!"
Doc: *flanking and readying shotgun*
lmao
Game for blood.
"street howitzer"
I'm your huckleberry
*Virgil sorry but I just can not allow people to misspell my name.
That’s jus my game lol
when Wyatt says; oh my god... you can hear the disbelief in what was about to happen in wyatts mind, they were going to actually start shooting. what an incredible line.
Much like before he "walks on water" he gives the booming NOOOOOOOOO
that side shot when they all lean forward to draw is one of the best ever
Totally agree. A very iconic shot.
From the Robert Mitchum opening to the magnificent Charlton Heston cameo, and all the terrific actors and scenes in between, Tombstone is one for the ages.
Where was Charlton Heston? Didn't notice him
@@MagusKali he's the rancher near the end that doc Holliday stays with
Holliday is the friend you need when shit goes down
Crazy, I decided to click on this on the anniversary of Bill Paxton passing away. My favorite movie of all time.
I smiled to see his face again. Went way too soon.
Bill Paxton
That little shoulder flex by Doc is undefeated.
Every is full of tension and anxiety.
Doc Holliday just winks
Doc intentionally broke the stalemate with just a wink. He didn't get out of bed for a truce
TIL Doc’s wink was improvised. Just deadly and awesome
"Damn RIGHT I'll risk it... they're breaking the law."... Sam Elliot!
when the shooting starts, doc didnt fire his gun, shot once in the air to scare the horse, then shot at one guy and then made his 3rd shot from the 2barrel shotgun.
I used to think the same, but it’s two angles of the same second shot
Noticed that myself... different gun musta been! Lol
CLASSIC!
Nope: 1st shot - air. 2nd shot - from the shoulder. 3rd shot - from the hip.
Probably meant to be two angles like you said, they just messed up while filming
@sdalton985
Nope he shot twice. Two different cameras, form two POV's showing the same thing.
@@charlesdalton985Not two angles of the same shot. It's two different takes entirely. And they either accidentally (or intentionally, through bad judgement) put two different takes into the film despite one take having the gun at shoulder height and the other take having the gun at waist height.
If a director wants to show the same shot from two angles the way to do it is to use two angles of film from the same *take*, that way the gun is in the same position, the actor being shot falls the same way, etc. This way, continuity is maintained.
"It should be a misdemeanor to post ads while the video is still rolling." - Wyatt Earp
Kurt Russell and Sam Elliot grow some of the meanest facial hair imaginable.
I always thought the moustache grew Sam Elliott?the man doesn't look like himself without one!
@@christopherolie817 Fair statement.
“Give doc the shot gun”
Doc proceeds to start fight 😂
Each time I watch this movie, I think its funny that once Doc shoots the shotgun, the horse is spooked by gunfire but somehow didn't notice the pistol shots 🤣
Different sound pistosl the horse is used to but a shotgun blast is loud and thunderous so definitely would spoke a horse thats not used to it
@@farmallskittle Then Doc used his double-barreled shotgun with 3 shots!!!!! Luckily he then drew his 6 gun with 12 rounds in it. THAT'S how you win a gunfight!!!
@@JBliehallThe second one is the same shot from a different angle and at the end of the frame. It's a bit of a poor editing but it's only two shots for sure. And he is also shown to shoot six shots with his gun. You see the cowboy being shot 6 times and then you see Doc H shooting 6 times. That's showing the same action from both ends, the receiving and the shooting. So you hear 12 shootings but it's actually only six.
*wink* "Oh my god..." The facial expressions in that scene were just top notch
The look Doc gives Wyatt when he turns and says 'your call, give Doc the shotgun' Bad ass!
Not enough is said about how Doc shrugs off his coat.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!
IRL Doc actually did tell Wyatt "That's a helluva thing for you to say." His feelings had actually been hurt and Wyatt was quick to see this and allow Doc into the fold.
Poor guy was trying to get killed. And no one was his daisy.
That's funny, I just wrote a comment wondering why he would have said that in that manner. Good thing I finally scrolled through the comments.
One of the best acting performances ever in a western - thank you Val
Doc is such a badass at the end of the clip. Glad he was a good friend to Wyatt until the end.

@@reyray7184 lol
Editor couldn’t decide which angle he liked most of the guy getting blown away, so he just put in both.
Kilmer in this movie, some great acting, some great lines
I haven’t stopped calling shotguns “Street Howitzers”
The greatest western ever made and the most accurate.
The Kevin Costner version was better and more accurate. I'd know, I'm an Earp. Hard to beat Val Kilmer as Doc though and gotta love Kurt Russel
@@blackjackmusic1107Costner was about Wyatt’s story. So more detailed. Tombstone was focused on the gunfight and aftermath. Both very entertaining
Well except the fight was not over the "Cowboys" being armed. IRL, they had threatened to take over the whole town. The "They have guns" is Hollywood propaganda BS. Even back(in the 90s) then Hollywood only wanted "Cops" to have guns and everybody else be helpless. It surprises me that this is never mentioned in the comments on any video about this movie.
@@blackjackmusic1107I disagree. Accuracy may be arguable but the better film of the two is most definitely Tombstone.
Unforgiven is the best Western although Tombstone is second and possibly more quotable.
I alwats loved how Doc was genuinely offended that Wyatt told him that getting involved wasn't his place. Of course, it was his place. Wyatt Earp is his friend.
Flint Marko: I don't want to hurt you. Leave now.
Virgil Earp: I guess you haven't heard. I'm the sheriff around these parts!
How Kilmer didn't get an Oscar for this film is beyond me
An advertisement in the middle of a gunfight, thanks youtube.
I got a political ad for a candidate running on "common-sense gun legislation." Wow, TH-cam, your irony game is solid.

Everybody super serious and...
Doc winks 😂
Bill Paxton’s “goddamn kid…” perfect 😂
Doc was offended when Wyatt told him he didn’t have to be involved. Who would want to go to a gunfight without Holliday at your side?
Doc was the only one smiling 😂
Probably cuz he managed 3 shots out of a double barreled shotgun.
It wasn’t three shots. The second shot was shown from two different camera angles. Jesus.
Fires one in the air... then two more lol the world's only 3-shot side-by-side twin barrel shotgun
The third shot is the second shot filmed from a different camera
On looking again, you are correct Sir.@@josephpugh8891
That’s what I thought, 3 shots from a double barrell shotgun
Yeah on looking closer the other guy is right, the "third" shot shows the same guy with his legs up in the air as the second, it's the same shot from a different angle, repeated. @@daleknox1969
*Very* fast reloads - must have learned to do that in the first kingdom’s kingdom house proper…
I love the "ike get in the fight or get away"
The shotgun was an 8 gauge, not a 12 gauge. Damn!!!
Two ounces per side. Wonder what the shot was?
@@dennisyoung4631it was a 10 gauge not an 8 gauge. An 8 would have probably broke docs ribs hip firing and cut the cowboy in half from that range. 8 is basically .835 caliber while a 10 is .775. and I doubt there would be an 8 with a short barrel. It would have recoiled into his face
@@bryanbaxter3558 I didn't even know there was such a thing as an 8 gauge.
The one guy with a tiny bucket of water for that house on fire 😅
I like how they already shot 20-30 times then all the sudden one shotgun blast in the air spooks the horse.
The actual gunfight took less than 30 seconds total. But, without editing you wouldn't see any of it and know what was going on. So, if you compress all of the first dozen or so edits into the same couple of seconds, the first shotgun blast doesn't come very long after the first pistol shot.
Also, if (and it's a big if) you somewhat regularly fire your pistol from horseback, then your horse may become accustomed to that sound and not spook. The shotgun is altogether a louder boom.
He fired the shotgun 3 times.
2 barrels... 3 shots.
@@Telruin The third shot is the second shot from a different angle. Look at the colour of shirt on the victim and point of impact.
@@aaronleverton4221 I guess that's what they were going for. It is a bit confusing since the horse is in a seemingly continues motion between the angles, and he changes his stance.
But it makes sense that this is what they were going for.
People are all talking about the 2 barrel shotgun with 3 shots, meanwhile one of the cowboys in the middle of the staredown is all: hats on, hats off, hats on, hats off, hats on
Legend has it that the boy that said, "Bang! Bang! Bang!" was Billy The Kid
I have GOT TO get me one of them sheriff outfits.
With great moustache comes great responsibility. Peter Griffin
Underrated comment by you my friend.
Doc is one of the most god damn loyal friends in the history of man kind
One of the top three westerns of all time!
Whats the other two?
The Good The Bad and The Ugly at No1
Maybe Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, Silverado, Unforgiven or the Outlaw Josey Wales tying for No2
But then The Shootist, The Magnificent Seven (either version), True Grit (either version), Dollars 1 & 2, Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, Open Range, and Jeremiah Johnson need factoring into any list of Great Westerns.
And some TV series should be mentioned too...
3:10 to Yuma
The Wild Bunch
Unforgiven and Quigley Down Under
Doc's blink started it all 😅
Wink.
I like it when Doc winks with his right eye and the other guy decides to go for it. His eye go wide.
When Wyatt tells Doc its not his problem and Doc responds "That is a helluva thing for you to say to me"
Real loyal and badass friend
Wish i had a friend like that
I hope i have a chance to use that line one day to a friend of mine
“Because it’s your problem - it is mine as well,” he said.
The walk up scene with the building fully engulfed in fire and dude thrown buckets of water 😂
When the talk of perfect films comes up this should be in anyone's top 10.
Cowboys in this movie were the defintion of fuck around and find out. By the by, Wyatt Earp, for all of his exploits, was never wounded in a gun fight once. He also may have been a pimp and fixed boxing matches. Worth a quick read on him. He has an amazing story.
This Life Leason: Never take a drunk dentist with you on a misdemeanor arrest.
One of my all time favorite movies. Best western movie made in my opinion 👍
True story: Walking down Allen Street, Virgil stepped into the Wells fargo Stage line and borrowed a shotgun. The rest is . . .
They could have just handed over their firearms and lived .
Kilmer killed this role. I am not sure I have ever seen such an amazing character/actor
I've probably watched this movie at least a dozen times and this is the first time I realized Doc fired three rounds out of a double barrelled shotgun.
Doc was like one of the brothers can’t ask for a better friend then that
Ike ended up on Pandora and Billy went to wine country with Miles and got up to all sorts of shenanigans.
Val should have gotten the big award for that one. He was INCREDIBLE!
Poor Doc was insulted that Wyatt thought he would stand anywhere but by his side.
The movie has some of the best lines in film "I'll be your Huckleberry", "You gonna do something about it or just stand there and bleed", "I'm coming and Hells coming with me!"
Val Kilmer played the best Doc Holiday ever. Id say his role was about equal to Heath Ledger as Joker and the way he "fanned" his colt .45 was epic.
Even the music 🎶 is absolutely perfect!!!
Wow, don't tick ANY THE WYATTS OFF! John P.
Funny how Wyatt Earp has become a hero with 2nd Amendment believers
Doc had Destiny 2’s old Reversal of Fortune weapon perk in that shotgun.
When real men knew their identity
Doc Holliday invented the Triple Threat shotgun right then and there..
What actually caused Earp to say "Oh my God" and start shooting? Was it something about the facial expressions of the enemies?
Basically, yeah, he saw it coming.
@@JebHoge Wasn't it the wink from Doc to that one kid? The kid's eyes grew large...Wyatt saw that and knew right then it was on.

Best Western film scene ever
Every time it's on!
Doc's Wink
I never quite understood why Doc got so upset and said, "That is a hell of a thing for you to say to me" in such a manner.
Wyatt was basically telling Doc, “You don’t have to be involved, you’re not family.” In real life, Doc was pretty much a brother to the Earps.
