Hearing you talk excitedly about exploring the unknown signal after the flight was kinda sad because I knew it was gonna be destroyed. As soon as you walk in the base it calls for backup and activates warheads on a 3 minute timer.
Hey andrew its andrew, so after testing no they were not targeting your thrusters, they were targeting where your survival kit/medical room is and anything in the exterior is just colateral damage. When i build a underground base on titan the enemies always will start pounding directly over where my survival kit is and leave my squadron alone if there is no kit.. so also in theory a survival kit will work as a better decoy than decoys.
Hey andrew, it's andrew. Thank you for the info! I'm glad I have two med bays then if they really want to destroy them! They seemed to be targeting the little drones when the Snowstorm was farther away so that's good. I'd love to throw little survival kits on each of those little drones but that would get pretty expensive!
the factorium faction has warheads in their bases, once you enter you have to disarm all the warheads otherwise after a specified time limit they explode and destroy everything.
That battle with the Factorum warship had me in tears, I was laughing so hard... 🤣 They're pretty heavily armed with Artillery Turrets, Assault Turrets, and a Railgun, and they're moderately armored. Not very maneuverable, but those turrets have a good arc of fire. If you're prepared, they're not terrible, but they're no walk in the park, either.
Those drones really earned their keep in the fight with the Factorum Battleship. I'm guessing it wouldn't be too difficult to automate drone production for extended fights, instead of you having to manually start the process each time. If it takes 45 seconds (guessing) to produce and launch a batch of drones, then something like 15 seconds after they launch, a new batch is automatically started until you cancel the auto-reinforcement sequence. For a prolonged fight like this one was, there could possibly be a dozen drones or more contributing to the glorious destruction chaos. It would seem the Factorum hail from a fairer climate, as they couldn't survive a simple Snowstorm.
They absolutely did! You're right, setting up an auto launch on a timer wouldnt be too tricky. I do like being the button presser though, it makes me feel like I'm doing something! Definitely a good idea to set up if the snowstorm were flying with AI blocks though. And the Snowstorm joke was gold!
A small grid tug is useful for moving compoents from ships and bases you've conquored - you just need to take it slow otherwise momentum becomes a p[ain. .. and the grinder disconnect mod, grabby hands and weldpads mod is really useful. You got pretty lucky with just the warship spawning in. Worst case you get a fleet of factorum....
Claiming the grid only allocates it's PCU to you and stops it from despawning in the default 2 hour window. It does not change ownership. It's basically a kind of cleanup function and claiming it stops it from being cleaned. I guess now you know about factorum booby traps but still worth it for the gyros. Taking out antennas on the bases will stop reinforcements spawning. Also for future reference, the prototech jump drive is 3x3x3 so you may need to find another location for it.
Like the new belly connector... Wondering if there is a piston conveyer/connector you can extend to do this (extending docking ramp..) Also making me think if belly doors for the hangar so you can "drop" the Captain's Skiff. Maybe in the next series. The battle went very well, especially against a railgun ship. On reason you needed 360 degree fighting capability. Drones were the bomb! Not sure how far they can acquire a target, but of they can at 2.5km then set for that and you can drone first before you bring in the ship. I like the duckbill prow (nose). You COULD... sneak a railgun inside that thing.... Nice mounting the gyros... gets the Snowstorm more nimble. What kind of thrusters on the Factorum ship? I agree you can make a fire ship out of it... Give it some thrusters and fix the guns, point it at the next base and shoot. Hmm, can you dock it to Snowstorm and jump with it, then detach at the next target? Good job.
there's 3 warheads, which trigger and you have to grind them down before the 3 min timer reaches 0... that is so it can prevent you from getting the prototech device that may be in there.... might want to make a Railgun drone version and have them auto build when enemies get within a set range then deploy once built and and attack weapons so it buys you enough time to get in to take out the warheads to claim the goodies
@@AndrewmanGaming it's all good, I thought you had tbf, as easy done when a lot is going on at the same time... I only knew to look out for it cos I saw someone do one but only had smaller drones attack, I do wonder if the opposition forces that appear are spawned to be comparable to the player's ship size and numbers though
The base was destroyed because when you entered you triggered a countdown to the base warheads. The Factorum ship was a distraction to keep you tied up until the base warheads could explode and destroy all the base Factorum tech.. When entering the base work fast, locate and grind down the warheads then access a panel and claim it to keep it from respawning.
You added a brush guard to your spaceship. Make a small ion grinding ship so you can more easily scrap other ships and if it’s not hydrogen then it will not use ice and small ion combat ship might be useful might be able to use it to get into the bases faster to.
Every Factorum encounter has ships that spawn in. If you encounter a huge Factorum ship it will be escorted by many smaller ships that will swarm you. You may want to park your Snowstorm at a safe distance and approach an encounter with a small ship so you can see what spawns in, rather than risk losing the Snowstorm. For some of the encounters the Snowstorm may be pretty under gunned. A shield generator would be an appropriate addition to the Snow Storm.
A shield generator would be only possible with WeaponCore or with aeagis shields. The latter just uses jump drives as source of shield power and is kinda balanced since npc will have a shield as well as long they have jump drives. Removing the mod is also possible without any impact. WeaponCore on the other hand can be totally overpowered. Npc do not have any shields IF the depending mod is not installed. This also just counts for MES. Good ai no will not have shields and you're just overpowered against fctm Removing WeaponCore might cause issues in a save
Watching you move to Gyro has made think of making drones with a magnet and thrusters equal to the task of moving/maneuvering inside the ship. Using the Snowstorm as an example: the room with the gyros has hanger door that could easily fit a 2 large ship block tall item. ...I kind of went on an hour rant typing my thoughts out on moving thinks like thrusters, assemblers, refiners, ect. In short; not worth the headache. Just go find a prototech assembler as soon as possible, and scrap the rest until you get enough prototech scrap and frames to make your own prototech machines, and thrusters. (edit) The only thing that would be on some value would be maybe 2 or 3 prototech gyros and maybe 1 large prototech thruster. Mostly because I feel like they're benefits outweigh enough to justify the headache moving them would cause.
Hello Andrew, new subscriber and lover of space engineers, so I maybe speaking a little out of turn. I know the year is ending and you talk about having to start next years series, but I’m loving this one so much, maybe instead you could do a something like a season 2 next year that continues on earth!
rip loot XD like many before said you have to disable the warheads first ( well if possible ) and then you can try and kill that monster warship a little tip is to kill the antenna out front right away so it cant call squat but then you lose the warship spawn its up to you if you want the warship battle extra or just the outpost loot :)

That factoruim base had a self destruct and that's why it looks that why the base looks to bad. there was proto tech stuff in that base but those are are gone now.
Multiple jump drives increase your total jump distance, and they all fire together by default. They recharge at the same speed, though. Especially for heavy and large, large grid ships multiple jump drives are handy for traveling around system.
The Outpost unfortunately is one of the only bases that has three bombs that you have to defuse within 5 minutes of opening that door unfortunately you got immediately attacked by the worship buckup so the bombs were not disabled then they blew up.

You need at least 4 more jump drives.
That battle was epic! You're a boss, Andrew. I hope you keep that warcraft

Maybe for the Drone Room camera, what if you just put a camera in the room and then control it from a seat. Not perfect, but works.

as a new viewer to your channel, you used a jump drive when you did the series with the forest planet you called Endor
The most important blocks on the bottom 😢
You need to deactivate those warhe..... Oh, wait, 99% of comments here have already told you that 😉
Great little fight though. 👍
For hacking blocks, what matters is removing the computer components.
Warhead blew up the base you saw it when you poked your head in and spawned in the prototech ship
The warheads inside the factorum base self destruct and the base lost all prototech parts
You should work with captain Jack
Could have put the gyros in the gyro room
You could.put an ai enabled block on board the snowstorm to maintain it
Warhead blown up ur prototek jump drive
for repairing the snowstorm, would it be possible to project it on itself like with smaller ships, or is it too big?
Yes its definitely possible! If it gets significantly damaged, I'll probably end up doing something like that.

As i watch you fix one of the ships i seen a player model and it scard me must be because im use to seeing ai bot in game 😅
A player model? It's a single player world. I'm the only one playing!
You should shave the ass of your ship off to put a weld pad in the back lol

did you add your phone program to the big ship?
No I didn't since it's used mostly for tracking the AI ships. But it would be cool to implement some sort of tracker for the Snowstorm!
