DJI Action 2 - Connect A Microphone Directly

  • If you will be using the DJI Action 2 for vlogging you will need to know how to connect a microphone to it. DJI has made it very easy and unlike the original, you no longer need to use a microphone adapter. You can plug any USB-C microphone directly into the side of the action 2 via the USB-C port on either the battery module or the dual-screen module. Microphones like the Rode Wireless Go 2 and Rode VideoMic Me-C work perfectly. With a microphone and grip or handle you can set up a nice DJI Action 2 vlogging rig.

    😮🔥 had mine for 2 weeks now it's super nice. Definitely more of a specialty camera and less of an action camera. They made it so that it's not a direct competitor with the osmo action 1.

      @malekith13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, while the osmo 1 is more like a gopro the osmo 2 looks more like some crossbreed between the insta 360 go2 and one R but with 4K 120fps, they basicaly chose to ignore gopro on that one ^^

    Possibilities to plug in a mic and power source at the same time? I use my action 1 fishing and the cynova adapter to have a mic and power to the camera. Guessing maybe I can use that adapter but hoping for a slick solution for power and external mic for this before pulling the trigger... Any suggestions?

  • @bernhtp
    @bernhtp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please do a review of the external mic in a very high noise and dynamic range environment, specifically a mic inside a motorcycle helmet. This requires really good AGC. The Osmo Action with the Cynova adapter failed here.

    Hi Sean, i wanted to ask a question, i've just bought a Rode Video mic me C, i tried it with my action 2 yesterday, i was by a river in London it picked up a lot of wind noise so i proberbly should have tried the dead cat with it, but i'm sure the camera lens will pick up the dead cat in the image. I noticed the mic symbol on the camera was flicking to red as i recorded does this mean the recording level was to high in the camera it was only set on 10 in the Action 2, does that red mic sign mean the recording level is set too high ?

    Does SC-15 work with Rode wireless go-1 (First gen) as well?

  • @GlobalWalkabout
    @GlobalWalkabout 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey mate, so I've got the Rode Wireless Go mic's and I went out and got the SC16 cable from a music store as the other cables I had didn't do anything... anyway, I've followed exactly what you've done here in this video and.... Nothing.. Nothing happened at all.
    So is there some sort of setting I need to change or something? I can't get anything to work saying that I've got an external microphone connected.. which is kinda 'frustrating' I've even tried it with a USB C to 3.5 adapter and a direct microphone plugged in.. and nothing. All my mic gear is from Rode as well.. so I know it's not the microphones etc.. and I'm really hoping to be able to make the A2 in to my direct vlogging camera after my GoPro H9 Black media mod screwed up and GoPro refused to replace it..

    The question is it becomes heavy because now there are 3 things. When extending your arm out doing vlogging. I think the internal mic is good enough. I wish it has a Bluetooth mic capability.

  • @Ozpeter
    @Ozpeter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The USB adapter from the Action 1 (or Pocket 1) does not work with the Action 2. The USB
    interface on the Action 2 is 'industry standard' and will (or should)
    accept any audio device or adapter that works with Android. If you want
    to connect any mono 3.5mm TRS mic to the Action 2 you could use the
    ARR2x-USB or any similar interface (tested by me). Note that you also
    get headphone output in stereo with that adapter. You can also use a
    Zoom recorder as an external mic or interface if you connect its USB out
    to the USB in of the Action 2 (also tested by me).
    The ultimate adapter which I'll be testing very soon would be the AI-Micro from Rode. This has two mic inputs and can also handle TRS stereo mics. And it's got a headphone output. It's configurable by windows or phone apps. As I haven't actually tested it yet, I can't confirm that it works but I'm 99% sure that it will.
    Remember that the Action 2 has a very wide lens and you have to ensure that whatever you mount it with doesn't project forward into the picture. I've found that a simple flash bracket can solve that problem, with the Action 2 mounted low and forwards and the mic mounts onto the cold shoe, behind and above the camera. Basically you just have to get a bit inventive with the little thing!
    Lsstly another reviewer has said that any USB-C to USB-C cable with work with the Rode Go 2 - you don't have to pay extra for a Rode one. I've not tested that myself however.
