Just a small addition, for people recording on an iPhone all the stereo recording is out the window. It’s all mixed to mono BUT the input from the two transmitters will be more important since you can’t change it in your edit.

    • @onlymyopiniontech
      @onlymyopiniontech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Gesuenderfitterleben several possible reasons. You could have the cable plugged into the headphone jack rather than the output.
The cable could be bad or the mic setting in your camera might be wrong.
I’m not familiar with your camera so I don’t have any suggestions for the settings.

    Thanks!
Believe it or not, I bought the DJI Mic 9/22/22 and just used it today (8/13/23) for the first time. I have a horrible habit of buying ahead of my skill set ... I watched this video at least once after buying and watched again this morning before my first go ... actually using the transmitter only for voice over. Very happy and this video helped me a lot! I know it is a year old video but I am a year behind. Your channel is a huge resource/reference for me as I slowly learn video technique, video editing and storytelling. Thank you, Jevon!

These things are nuts. As someone who's been doing production for 20+ years, I cannot believe how these work, and all the little details they got right. And they're SO SMALL.

Seeing as they plug into the input jack on the camera are they already beaten to the audio of the video clip you’re recording? Or do you have to sync it up to the video once you pull in the audio clips from the transmitter?
I was hoping it would be baked in as well

I love mine and think the same as the OP. Just nuts how great these are compared to the old clunky metal ones. I can't see ever going back. They sync and bam, also onboard recording are you serious? amazing. It rolls with your video when you plug it into the mic hole. The nav recording is for back up yes you will have to sync that way. @@ryansulak

Cannot thank you enough for this great deep dive. I was so close to boxing mine back up and returning them (actually had them boxed up with the return label). Decided to search one last time for an in-depth tutorial. Found yours and discovered a LOT more about the system than I knew, including some things I was doing wrong. ONE HELPFUL THING YOU DIDN'T SAY that I discovered, regarding brightness: Inside the transmitter settings is a setting for LED brightness. This gives two options as to those darn green and red lights that are not preferable when filming up close; just press the left one for dimmer setting. Or maybe I have a later version that has this option and that's why you didn't cover it? Thanks SO MUCH for this video, it was super helpful for understanding everything else!

Amazing wireless mic system. It's super easy to use. The only confusion people might have is using the Mono and Stereo modes with one or two mics.
Mono one mic - records dual mono track (1 person talking) No post audio editing needed)
Mono two mics - mixes both mono tracks into a single stereo track (two people talking at the same time) No post audio editing needed.
Stereo one mic - records only the left channel (you have to duplicate this track in post to have stereo sound)
Stereo two mics - send the L and R channel individually to the receiver and you have a single stereo track (not practical for recording two people as you will have one person on the L and the second on the R . You have to mix the channels in post to have Stereo)
The easiest way to see how this works is plug your headphones into the receiver and get your mics out, change from mono to stereo, play with the options and you will see how it changes the sound and channels live.
I am using this with a Sony A7III and the audio input level on my camera is set at 3.

I so appreciate you posting this clarification. My head spins trying to get this concept straight. I understand Mono vs Stereo. What I don't understand is which I want to record for talking-head types of personal (non-commercial) videos. Your explanation gives me the how. Now all I need is the why and your parentheses notes almost get me there. I'm printing your comment and will read it twice a day until my 💡turns on. Thank you.

The work around is that the transmitters can also record and you have to import that track and sync it. I am not sure if that's a DJI issue or iOS issue.

I love how no one is mentioning the horrible Hiss sound that's coming from the transmitter with a lot of Lavalier Mics (like the Rode Lavalier GO) that makes the sound unusable. Maybe that's the reason it got delayed a million times, probably DJI is aware of that and tries to fix it before release. Some yt channels mention it briefly and still praise this to heaven - sorry but most of the people don't want to attach a huge transmitter to the shirt of your interview partner, that doesn't look professional. If this is fixed it's an awesome device, but until then this not usable for a lot of content creators.

I bought these the other day because of your excellent coverage and received them today. They are super nice. I am coming from the Hollyland Lark set. They are fine. I wanted a non-lapel set which i guess they are very similar. Owning both, I like this set much better the phone attachment is huge. I will be using them in a one one one and three person scenario. I thought about using two and a Saramonic mixer on camera. But then I thought why not place them on mini tripod like at 33:18 and just have them in between subject and do a mic test prior to and check the levels to make sure each subject is receiving okay.

We really appreciate & enjoy all of your training material. We we're finally able to go through the mic training & it was very helpful TY. We will be using these mics in many settings. 1) To document our travels for memories & to share with others. 2) to utilize on our up & coming educational videos to help people with their diet (Eric is a cancer & kidney failure survivor). 3) Kristy is a master RV organizer. We have plans to do videos on this as well. Its all broken down on our website. We are semi retired and love sharing & giving back. You asked. 🤣❤️. TY
P.S. We hope to meet you someday through our travels.

Any problem from bh? I was gonna order ir from bh but I didn’t like their customer service. They say we dont do free returns. Even u change ur mind n return, we don’t. If any issues, you have to contact with dji. I was like what tf why ibuy it from u then? I actually ordered it on official website 3-4 weeks ago but still i m waiting. Just thought maybe i can cancel n order from bh n i concerned about issues if i get it from bh.

Jeven, this is a very helpful video. I like the chapter markers for specific info after watching the whole video once. I have one issue with my DJI that I haven't resolved. When I am not talking for a bit and then start talking the volume of my voice is way to loud then it settles down in a few seconds. It makes it hard to edit and now I start talking just to let the mic level out before I say what will be in the video. It is as if the gain automatically goes higher trying to pick up on sounds that are not there. Thoughts? Thanks, Ron😎🤙

Super helpful video!! I know that DJI has some stuff, but I found this first. I bought the setup to hopefully use for both voiceover and out and about shooting/voice. Your video addressed both. I particularly appreciate the Workflow chapter. Not to negate the first 2 chapters which helped me tremendously, but workflow is often not included in “how to” videos and I think that info is so helpful. I am a very new videographer (hobby) and the workflow is the last piece of the puzzle for me. Thank you!
