Great video. I'm pretty handy so I had no problem installing this lock. But if you're inexperienced with door locks the included "quick start" is worthless. I really like this lock. Thanks
George, greetings from another Omaha native. I just found your channel and I think it's super cool to find someone local who is also into smart home tech! I recently purchased a Tapo doorbell to replace my old Ring doorbell after finding your review of the Tapo D225. I love the D225 and I would like to invest more in the Tapo ecosystem. Do you have any plans to review the Tapo DL110 smart doorlock? I was looking at purchasing the DL110 as I am trying to switch all my smart home security stuff to the same ecosystem, but I'm not sure how the smart lock stacks up to other options on the market.
I'm a renter and I just created a custom code for maintenance and supplied it to my landlord...but every landlord is different, so it depends where you live.
It’s because for more of those few weeks I’ve been doing much more with it than I normally would, for testing purposes. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t be using it nearly as much & the battery wouldn’t drain nearly as fast. Proven by how little the battery has drained since I released the video.
I bought the version of this without the fingerprint reader. Had the dreaded no response as well. Paired it with matter three times in the matter of three days. Back to Amazon it goes. Schlage encode is back on the door.
Can't re-key it? That' sounds fundamentally bad. But also, it might simply be wrong. Unless it's a keyway unique to them, it's gotta be re-pinnable. It sorta looked like a Schlage keyway.
@@GeorgeLangabeer Totally appreciate that. You're telling us the kinda crucial specifics we need to make an informed purchase. Actually, it's the kinda stuff we'd normally overlook or forget about in our excitement for the "new thing". I'm still waiting for the right new lock. I want Matter, Apple Key, Kwikset keyway and a better than 6 mo battery. I might be waiting awhile. Great vid!
Yeah it isn't an easy rekey. But you can take the cylinder to a locksmith for rekeying. It is a spring and pin cylinder. You may be able to just purchase a few cylinders and swap them. But I don't have the lock in hand to verify. One could rekey it oneself if they have the training and tools. But I don't recommend. I have shot pins across the room never to be seen again trying it for myself. But that is likely due to lack of training and/or proper tools.
@@shadowopal I have a kwikset Halo. It’s fine. But I wish someone (kwikset) would come out with a full matching set of smart deadbolt, handle and matching dummy handles for a front double door. They make normal sets, but no smart sets. It’s always an oddball smart lock. They’re not for weirdos anymore. Start making them into the normal designs.
I've had this lock for about 6 months and it sucks! The battery life is bad and it has a poor finger print reader! I have the Eufy doorbell lock with finger print reader and it works MUCH better as far as reader is concerned. At this point I'm done with Eufy products!
Ok, sorry you're right. I have the C220. Looks the same to me. And I've actually had it about a year. I just checked my Amazon account. Hopefully this one is better! But I'm still done with Eufy! The lock sucks and the doorbell lock misses a lot of alerts.

Hello, Your videos are really helpful. Thank you!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying them. Thanks for watching!

Hello neighbor! It looks like a decent lock, but I haven’t tried it myself. I’m holding out to try their new DL130 once I can get my hands on it.
So If you are a renter would this even be possible to use since maintenance usually have a master key?
I'm a renter and I just created a custom code for maintenance and supplied it to my landlord...but every landlord is different, so it depends where you live.
What’s the big difference here between the E30 and C220? Just matter?
Do you need a homepod device to connect to apple homekit? Thanks
A HomePod or Apple TV
You’ve had it for a few weeks and the battery is at 72% (according to Apple Home)? Something is draining that battery really fast.

I had some troubles with The Apple Home reliability during my initial testing, but it’s been pretty flawless since I released this video.
@@GeorgeLangabeer what device are you using for your home hub. I’m currently using Appletv
@davidschlemmer4115 Apple TV 4K
@@GeorgeLangabeer so after moving my HomePod mini into the same room and power cycling all my Apple TVs the lock is staying connected

As I said, I didn’t try it myself. But that’s what Eufy is saying.

@@DethpickleDaveI wish kwikset would put a smart handle together that has their smarkey rekeying system.
