Thanks for the video! I just picked up the E31 model from Bestbuy that has the lithium rechargeable battery quoted for 14 months. I’d be happy with 1 year if it can last that long. Only $10 more over the E30 for Cyber Monday.
The real question is how pick resistant is the key hole. One of the advantages smart locks have (that may or may not outweigh the IT security risks) is that they cannot be picked or bypassed through traditional picking methods. This one appears to have the IT security risks as well as the traditional picking/raking/bumping risks.
I can see the pro's to that. I'm always still a little worried that something will go wrong, a battery will die etc and I'll get locked out. It's never happened, so my worry is probably unfounded.
@@DoItYourselfDad one of the reasons I went with the Nest lock is that it has two contacts on the bottom of the outside interface for a 9V battery, so if it ever dies you can touch a 9V to it and it will have enough juice to enter your code and unlock, so now instead of hiding a key I have a 9V on the porch.
Thanks for the video. Does it have a door closed sensor like the Yale lock? Also, does it use the standard Schlage or Kwikset keys? Can you get a copy key from a hardware store?
Event logging and storage of events logged. I have my whole system setup to run off batteries in an outage (happens in my area a lot). If the internet goes out due to an outage l event logging ends.
I had one, this replaced it because I wanted to go with Matter and didn't really have a need for a camera on my door when I already had one on my door bell. I can say, it worked well, never had an issue with it. I have a screen door that obscured the camera when it was closed so it didn't work well with my setup.
Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the video, but somehow I missed the later comments on 2.4GHz wifi mentioned @ 4:33
Nice review. Nice homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey - I'm sorry, Dad. I'm afraid I can't do that. 😃
Bingo!!!!

Every smart lock I’ve had (many) has had a manual key override in case the electronics fail or the batteries die.
@DoItYourselfDad one of the features I love about my Nest x Yale, no key.

@@urufushinjiroI wouldn't be telling people that 😂😂😂
What app is on that tablet at 8:38
It's HD+ Hubitat Dashboard.
@@DoItYourselfDad thanks, is there anything like for iOS/Mac?
Are you running a Hubitat hub?

It doesn't seem to have a door closed sensor, the lock is a standard schlage style key.
Sooooo are you going to video the schwinn axum upgrades?? Just wondering
I did, not in this channel though. Curious, where did you see the Axum in this video?
So it’s not compatible with the Home base 3?
Correct, this one does not connect to the Homebase.
There is no camera on it, what would be the benefit of it being connected to the homebase?

How about the E340 video lock?

Thank you!!
Can this lock used to disarm the eufy alarm system
Currently not that I've figured out, Eufy could do that through their app though.
Cant you use lithium aa batteries? They last a lot longer
Yup! Site can, I’ll be adoring over to them when these die.
8 batteries it’s a automatic deal breaker.
