I too have a very strong desire to be accepted and loved but for me personally the platonic relationships I have at the moment are enough to grant me these feelings. And I do feel like the concept of romance is pushed onto the audience who then think that the only way to have a full living experience is to either find one true love forever or to have multiple romantic partners. To me people can be just as interesting, generous and needed without sex on a regular basis. I have been on 'dates' I guess, but I'm European and I think that the concept of a date itself is a lot more institutionalized in the US. To ponder what should you do on the first, second, third etc date and what a date means is a very American thing to do. I think I didn't realize my meetings with people were dates until I looked back on them and thought 'wow, that was a date'. To me (and them too) at the time it was just a situation in which we were hanging out. Ha, I am happy with how I live. And most of the time I don't feel like I'm doing something wrong, only every now and then I feel excluded.

Druggie, pathological liar, didnt do shit for me, made me look like the bad guy to EVERYONE ELSE. Of course I shouldve broke up with him but nooo I think im in love, you know, that bullshit. So for the next 4 months im crying everyday at school, my friends IN MY GRADE dont hang out with me anymore, they leave me for him. He starts talking to me again just so I can go over & we can makeout but once school starts im a ghost. My mom even said shes happy with you so stop doing what youre doing but he didnt care. Then my ex best friend (who is dating my ex, who I dated when being best friends with her) came back into my life & is like im here for you.. so I consistently cried on her shoulder.. then shes a lil bitch so we stop being friends & this is summer now. So im taking the summer to get over him. 3 months later junior year starts & I swear not even a month into school my ex best friend breaks up with my ex to date my ex I cried to her about. I know how to pick people right? Now im happily dating the guy ive wanted for 3 years & were almost half a year. :-)

My ex invited me out to a bar and there were all our mutual friends and then it was like intervention style. He broke up with me and then made each of them pick a side right in front of me. Only 2 out of like 10 people said they would still be my friend after. Basically I had horrible friends in college.
My ex broke up with me after 6 months and I still don't understand why. He texted me saying we needed to talk early in the morning, and we couldn't talk until late that night, so I was in a horrible emotional state for 12 hours. Each minute felt like an hour. People can be jerks sometimes, even people who you don't expect it from.

Worst technically would be my ex who cheated but the one that hurts most is the recent one mostly because the girl is pretty much the embodiment of my answer to the question 'what kind of girl do you wanna end up with' so it sucks she stopped having feelings. my worst breakup.. in a car, and i tried to get out of it while it stopped at a red light. And spent a good 2 hours bawling my eyes out while he sat next to me. Felt like shit, and finals on the next day. Didn't have a chance to study, too busy crying.

I've never been in a relationship and it was on purpose. I just don't think I want one, I didn't think so in the past either. I know, you think I'm either unattractive or it's the fear of commitment but it's really none of those. I'm 26 and I might possibly be with someone later one but for now I just don't think it's important to me. I like being alone. I am super close with my great family, I'm an excellent friend and loved by many. I just never dated anyone on the regular.
Sometimes I feel judged. Sometimes when I watch your videos (which I love btw) and I can't help but notice that the vast majority relates to romantic or sexual relationships I wonder if maybe I'm doing life wrong. Is having romantic relationships the absolute status quo? Because I have plenty of other fulfilling and gratifying ones that are strictly platonic.
I guess where I'm going with this is that I never had a breakup either.
There's a lot of emphasis on romance in traditional media as well as on TH-cam.
And it makes you wonder if it's because that's what the majority of people actually want in life or the other way around, i.e we are being brain washed!
I do have a strong desire of being accepted and needed, which has been fulfilled by platonic relationships, and I guess can be fulfilled by a romantic relationship too; but I have never been on a date.( I'm a 26 y/o bisexual cis man)
As for "doing life wrong" no one has the right to judge that, if you are content and happy (and not hurting any sentient beings) then your opinion about your life choices is the only one that matters.
Fun Hippocampus This is the sort of reply I was curious to get. I too have a very strong desire to be accepted and loved but for me personally the platonic relationships I have at the moment are enough to grant me these feelings. And I do feel like the concept of romance is pushed onto the audience who then think that the only way to have a full living experience is to either find one true love forever or to have multiple romantic partners. To me people can be just as interesting, generous and needed without sex on a regular basis.
I have been on 'dates' I guess, but I'm European and I think that the concept of a date itself is a lot more institutionalized in the US. To ponder what should you do on the first, second, third etc date and what a date means is a very American thing to do. I think I didn't realize my meetings with people were dates until I looked back on them and thought 'wow, that was a date'. To me (and them too) at the time it was just a situation in which we were hanging out.
Ha, I am happy with how I live. And most of the time I don't feel like I'm doing something wrong, only every now and then I feel excluded.
Came home from the military when I was done, 2 months later she was gone. Never cared from the start.
I was sixteen and didn't know how break ups or relationships worked so I dumped my girlfriend over a 30 second phone call because our relationship couldn't "handle the distance" of a two week vacation. There was also the time I just asked someone if we were "dating" or not and I think they dumped me so we just never spoke again.

My girlfriend and I were in a long distance relationship and she had been cheating on me for about a month before we were going on vacation together. And I knew something was up, but I didn't quite know what it was, until she showed up to pick me up from the airport with the girl she'd been cheating on me with. And I had to spend the day with them, and it was awful, until my now ex left early. I don't know how she thought this was actually going to work out, like we could have a nice time together when I knew she'd been cheating on me. And then her new girlfriend harassed me online until I blocked her.
It just breaks my heart to hear Allison's voice crack when shes talking abt tht douche...and the way she goes into serious mode.. 😟

I tried to breakup with a guy, but he said "no. that's not happening. We're going on a week long break and see where we stand." And I was like, "okay. Well, I'll just breakup with you then." And then a few days later he texted me that we're over, I'm the worst person ever and to never talk to him again. Then, he continued to talk smack about me on social media and would talk about how "unsafe" he felt because I was still following him seeing all the horrible rumors he was spreading about me.

I can relate to Allison feeling 'eh' about the guy she lived with. I had that feeling, I had been thinking about whether we should be together for a long time and when I finally decided it was over, it was just over. I mostly just counted down the days til he moved out and now I do feel 'eh' about thinking back. I'm not saying it was a good breakup I just don't care about it now.

omg something similar happened to me.... worst break up ever... and it still has its effect on me...
My worst breakup was sophomore year. (Im going to be a senior next month.) I was dating this guy who was a grade higher than me. He was complete scum in like every aspect of the word. Druggie, pathological liar, didnt do shit for me, made me look like the bad guy to EVERYONE ELSE. Of course I shouldve broke up with him but nooo I think im in love, you know, that bullshit. So its been like a month or two maybe that were together & now its janurary.. something happens I dont know if we fight or what.. but he just IGNORES ME & he ends up going to a party & letting this girl sit on his lap like if I didnt follow her when she posted the pictures.. I tell him fine go be with her then but he claims he didnt cheat or whatever... & I swear we didnt break up but he continues to ignore me & im crying EVERYDAY. we had first period together & he still didnt care. Eventually we agreed to start over but I ended up finding out that that was his way of breaking up with me & telling everyone he did. So for the next 4 months im crying everyday at school, my friends IN MY GRADE dont hang out with me anymore, they leave me for him. He starts talking to me again just so I can go over & we can makeout but once school starts im a ghost. My mom even said shes happy with you so stop doing what youre doing but he didnt care. Then my ex best friend (who is dating my ex, who I dated when being best friends with her) came back into my life & is like im here for you.. so I consistently cried on her shoulder.. then shes a lil bitch so we stop being friends & this is summer now. So im taking the summer to get over him. 3 months later junior year starts & I swear not even a month into school my ex best friend breaks up with my ex to date my ex I cried to her about. I know how to pick people right? Now im happily dating the guy ive wanted for 3 years & were almost half a year. :-)
My first girlfriend and I dated for a couple months (which I know isn't long but in lesbian years it's like forever) and you know how it goes, I fell totally and completely in love with her. I was planning my college around her, I just fell too hard I guess. It was my first love... Anyways we broke up and like two seconds later she starts dating my guy best friend (who was also the first person I came out to). What hurt the most though was that she told me liked him while we still dating and then continued to deny that they were together for weeks after we broke up. (I was the last to find out apparently.) Then I cried for about 6 months! But hey, I got my awful breakup out of the way early!
My then Wife asked me to move out while I was having a Panic Attack from the job I only took because she said I had to. My temp job had just ended and I told her the Beer Distributor job wasn't for me but she insisted, and I ended up having a Panic Attack at work like 8 months later, and then another one when I was trying to go back to work like the next day.
Did John said to Alison he didn't see her in his life 1 year from now and they are still together for 5 months after? Man, what took them so long. The relationship is practically over at that point, why 5 months?
