    I know this is old, but it just popped up in my recommendations, so it is new to me.
    This video should be required viewing for anyone that thinks that you must drag around a big bag o' glass and spend time and effort swapping lenses to be effective as a photographer.
    One lens (can't do much better than the XF 35mm f/1.4), one camera and the only variable being the placement of the subjects in relation to the environment. Beautiful images.

      Hi Felix, thanks so much. I'm on holiday at the moment and it's the only lens I brought with me :-) I'm really glad you like the edits - I really must do something about those sometime. I do like adding grain.

      @@ChrisBoland I bought the XS10! Went to the store with full intention of getting the T30ii but ergonomically it was way to small and felt like you had to pinch the camera to hold it. The XS10 is completely opposite. Feels so secure and proper in hand. Thank you again for your videos and advice.

    With 35f1.4 & 90f2 at both ends, do you think 56f1.2 has become more of redundant..?

    • @ChrisBoland
      @ChrisBoland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Atul. No, I don't think one focal length can completely replace another - I love the view of the 56 - although you're right in that the 90 is a fantastic choice for portraits.

    I hope you will get a chance to compare this with the new XF33mm F1.4. I was comparing both lenses on Flickr, and while both are sharp enough for any of my photography, the 33mm just seemed "cleaner", it took me a long time to think of a description, but it almost seems as if it's distilled or filtered water "clear". I really like the aesthetics and weight of the 35mm, but there's just a little "more" in the 33mm that's missing on the 35mm. I'm a little torn deciding on the two. I'm pretty sure I won't "miss" anything with the 35mm, but there's just ever so slight doubt that I'll regret (I mean I could sell and buy them when I please, but it's just a nuance).

    • @ChrisBoland
      @ChrisBoland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alan, thanks for the comment. I would love to try out the 33mm whenever I can. I usually prefer the smaller lenses and the 33 is bigger and no faster than the 35. I know what you mean about the cleanness - I think I've been seeing that look in the 18mm f1.4 lens that I've been using recently.

    Just Beautiful! Do u find u still need full frame?

    • @ChrisBoland
      @ChrisBoland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much Elias. I use full frame Nikon SLRs for photographing weddings, but it's more about having the optical viewfinder than it being full frame.

    • @eliaspap8708
      @eliaspap8708 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisBoland wow that’s interesting! Ever Since I transitioned to Canon R6 and Fuji mirrorless Bodies I found It hard going back to Optical viewfinder. Maybe because my eyesight is on the downhill? Haha who knows, But I think the real reason is because of the Face/eye detect on the mirrorless systems is such a breath of fresh air I really don’t need to worry about nailing focus so much anymore. Especially the Canon R6 I didn’t expect it to be better then my XT4.

    • @Johnatlanticism
      @Johnatlanticism 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eliaspap8708 How would you compare the R6 to the XT-4? I currently have the XT-4 and still sometimes crave that full frame depth of field. But videos like this make me feel good with my current setup!

    • @eliaspap8708
      @eliaspap8708 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Johnatlanticism the R6 has a bit better eye/face detect AF, it just seems to stick better, but apart from that the only main difference is the obvious, the sensor size and all the science that comes with that regarding depth of field. Also I find The Xt4 more intuitive when it comes to ergonomics and more flexible in customizing your dials, buttons and evf preferences to the R6,
      Both give amazing files, note i use capture one. dynamic range is pretty much even.
      The R6 will give you slightly better low noise performance.
      I still prefer using the Fuji but the canon gives me a certain full frame look when using wider lenses especially the 35mm angle of view. Basically i use full frame on a 35mm and 24-70 mm f2.8 zoom and Fuji on the longer lenses 56mmf1.2, 90mmf2, 50-140mm f2.8 and I also use the 16mm f1.4 great lens. I don’t think u can go wrong with either cameras.
