Anthony's rant about people defending poor figures hits home. I just saw a toy TH-camr defending Marvel Legends, saying we should expect little to no paint and not very much accessories, because they're Marvel Legends, that's just how they sell they're figures and we shouldn't be upset by it. I'm glad Anthony's here spitting some truth.
Batman Hush is a fun book with incredible art, but Hush himself isn't interesting until you get to a story called Heart of Hush. It's really good and probably the best that character has ever been.
Batman hush is great it’s one of my favorite Batman comics but I agree with you he gets outshined buy the other characters but he is a bit better in heart of hush

No matter what, Anthony is spot on with DC Multiverse figures because Todd McFarlane does try to make articulation work while the scuplt on the suits on DC superheroes are fantastic even though the portions on the bodies are awkward, Awesome review Anthony.
I thought Hush was an interesting concept and character during her debut, but was honestly kind of shocked he's kept around as a permanent member of Batman's rogue's gallery. To me his entire appeal was his surprise factor. Once you know his deal, he's got nothing interesting to offer.
The rant that starts at 5:40 was GOLD and I wish more collectors upholded this reasoning and either demanded more from companies or just skipped bad releases.
Bonus points for the photo of Hush eating Shovel, got a good laugh out of that one.

I don't have a clue why, but the elbow joints are actually painted black. I'm guessing the factory messed this up. The prototype shot used for the card looks so much better. At least the paint is easy to remove. Fun review either way. The shovel in the mouth photo, well done sir!
How does McFarlane always find at least 1 crucial detail to screw up on every figure. Those elbow joints are unacceptable
Only figure that came close to perfect was the 4 arm monster.
It’s pretty wild too me how one thing can completely ruin a banger figure honestly. A huge story and fig that people would want I’m assuming. Omg those elbows look so bad!
I think a lot of people defend this line because of the low price and the amount of sculpted detail, but that's honestly not a good enough reason in my opinion. It's almost like defending fast food; it's affordable but that doesn't mean it's good.

I've been thinking, based off their Universal Monsters and upcoming Street Fighter figures, that Jada Toys could do DC justice. Plus, they'd probably scale well with Marvel Legends for those of us who'd like to see Marvel and DC characters together. What do you think?

The decision making seems to be that Todd McFarlane still hates articulation and wants to keep making staction figures like he used to, and as far as character selection, in Shartimus Prime's last interview with him, he says that he doesn't care about names or characters, he just picks characters based off of how cool he thinks they look. If you have the time, check out Spider Criminal's video on why he thinks McFarlane's DC figures suck. He includes the parts of Shartimus Prime's interview where he says what I told you.

Hush had a fun introduction, and a Jason Todd fakeout that was actually Clayface. Last story Hush was in that I liked was Batman Eternal. A character with moderate potential that is now used to make you think he’s the big bad without actually being the bid bad.
In the limited series Red Hood the Lost Days it’s revealed that it was in fact Jason Todd during the Hush story arc
Batman looks like an amalgamation of different action figure parts put together in one weird looking figure.
In the Hush storyline Clay Face took on the form of an adult Jason Todd to make Batman think that he was brought back to life with the Lazarus pit and went insane and became Hush and wanted revenge against Batman for letting him die at the hands of the Joker, kind of a convoluted story line now that I try to explain it but still a good one IMO.
Hush is Bruce's childhood friend Tommy. The Jason Todd reveal was just a ruse, it turned out to be Clayface. Although the real mastermind behind the whole Hush storyline was The Riddler. Jason Todd came back a few months later in the Red Hood storyline.
The figure looks familiar because its the 3 Jokers/Year Two mold reworked

Yeah and i think they rectconed this ruse in the Red Hood storyline by stating the fact that Batman really fought Jason in the graveyard during the Hush storyline and then Clayface took his place at the last moment. The whole Hush/Jason is very convoluted
Hush is a nothing character who was only somewhat salvaged by Paul Dini. Before Dini, he was on the level of a random arc villain, except with a complete lack of originality, and is only so high profile because the story he debuted in is high profile and is named after him. And the "Hush" story in itself is just... fine, at least in terms of writing, and is carried the entire way by Jim Lee's art. The only thing it really has going for it as a story is that it's a solid introduction to the Bat-mythos since it uses most of the important characters from that time period, and even then, it doesn't really use them well.
I'm disappointed that Hugh of all villains gets to be revisited in comics and merchandise compared to other lesser known characters, especially ones that only appeared briefly but are better written than Hush. Eiko Hasigawa, Erin McKillen, Nobody, there are just better characters than Hush, but he gets by because of the popularity of his debut.
Fun fact, the black hinges are paint, not cast plastic. Apparently some sort of flub from the factory

McFarlane seems to hire talented sculptors, mostly don't cheap out on paint apps (except for those elbows), but consistently make weird choices that make their figures very unappealing. This "best" Batman was built on the previous "best" Batman, but they fixed the super long banana shaped shins and flat pecs, BUT they took away the nice sculpted gloves, didn't paint, and replaced the flat chest with one that has definition but is too narrow. They can do everything well, but never all at the same time.
Supposedly the joint is painted.
You should really read Hush. No the best Batman villain but it is a really good story. The artwork by Jim Lee is the best Batman there is.
To be honest I want the set just for the Batman so I can customize him lol. I love the grey and black suit design. Not worth $40 though, if I got this I'd probably keep Hush in the box cause he's so fugly.
The elbow is an oops, it's actually a grey piece painted in black.
It's almost like they shipped out the prototypes for these figures
thats why I dont buy mcfarlane... they kind of look good on their promo pics, but the real product is mostlly crap.
They almost always look ugly to me. Say what you will about Hasbro cutting corners on Marvel Legends and other lines, you wouldn't be wrong, but at least they have a consistent aesthetic and generally look visually pleasing. These look like Mcfarlane is perpetually stuck in a teenage edgelord phase.

The Arrow figure from the earliest waves had almost nothing in his torso, just a kind of plastic skeleton frame with the rubber overlay of his tunic over it. I suspect that's what they've done with the Hush too.

Hush to my knowledge is a role taken up by 3 people. Jason Todd sometimes, riddler others (in the animated movie) and finally Bruce's childhood friend Thomas elliot who is usually the main hush and who most associate with the mantle

I don’t own these figures. I was tempted to but when you showed me the trading card with the Batman figure on there, my interest fell straight down. Why does the figure on the paper card look better than the final, plastic figure? It’s very weird.
The excuse people use that Todd is saving money by keeping the elbows and forearms black is BS , scrape them they are molded in grey and PAINTED BLACK they actually painted that shit that badly
Hmm. My guess would be they want to give people a reason (force) to buy the inevitable corrected version with a neutral facial expression.

Todd noticed the error and there is a fixed version of the batman ( his elbow joint being grey instead of black like the card ) but it was too late the first wave had already been distributed, i own the fixed one
And there are still no gloves sculpted

Dude, seriously Hush looks a lot like Darkman (1990, film). With a repaint, he could be decent figure. Just sayin'...
Usually I can overlook flaws here and there cause the figure usually looks good to great… those elbow joints are straight up bootleg shit. What were they thinking??? And the trenchcoat looks really bad. They could’ve casted it in a darker brown and it would look better than that lol.
Uh. As for Hush. It was a mystery of Who was Hush… I think one of the suspects was Jason Todd? Maybe… its been a while since I read it. It was fine… there are better Batman stories out there.
Also, I don't have this 2 pack, But to me the only Batman villain figures I will get is Three Jokers the Clown, Mortal Kombat 11 Joker, single release Hush and as well as the good Batman characters like Batgirl and Rebirth Damian Wayne.
Also, the "elbows are black to save a few bucks" argument doesn't work, cause the elbows are MOLDED in gray and PAINTED BLACK 😭😭😭. So that was like an intentional mess up
Those exaggerating excess clothes design is based on Todd McFarlane's art. We all know Todd is fond of making exaggerating drawings. Lol

You can't see Batman's super defined biceps or leg muscles because he's wearing a suit. So technically it's realistic , u can't actually see veins or bulging muscles under fabric rite?

I love McFarlane, but when they f*ck up... they f*ck up, and this 2 pack is royally f*cked up. I am not too familiar with Hush, and the 3 Jokers Batman is far superior to this one, IMHO. So much so, I bought 2 more for customs.
I completely passed on this set and those elbows are inexcusable.
This Hush Batman is the 3 Jokers Batman body (as well as the Year 2), just different head, gloves, belt, chest emblem and boots. Everything else is exactly the same.
@@BatFan1 I know it shares parts with it, but between the 3 Jokers Batman, Hush 2pk, and Year 2... the 3 Jokers is the best of the 3.
The funny part is that the elbows are actually gray with excess black paint. Lol.

in australia, we have the prototype figure. the elbows are fixed and the gloves are painted. the black elbows and high up gauntlets are odd and idk how they came out like that in other places
McFarlane rereleased this two pack and they fixed those black color elbows. It was a clear error on their part.
Pretty sure McFarlane sees crticism and goes, "F- you, I'm going to make the next one worse."
I'm still looking forward to the Dark Knight figures though.

I love Hush because of what he represented as a character who was just as smart as Batman who always seems one step ahead of him and it was a great mystery as to the identity of Hush. It’s up there with The Long Halloween, Nightfall and The Killing Joke. Also it was the start of DC slowly reintroducing Jason Todd (I know Hush isn’t really Jason, but with the fake-out, it felt like the ball got rolling).
My favorite Batman figure from McFarlane is still White Knight Batman. As for the question, I do like the Hush story…..but Hush as a character not so much.
I have that figure too, kinda like animated and gotham by gaslight combined.
That is such a great figure and really shows what MacFarlane can do imo. The comic is an awesome story (still haven't finished it after years lol) and would love to see it adapted into a live action movie/show/animated movie

I think the caps are just to fill the gaps. The torso on my Batman bends back, but the plug in the abdomen was glued in crookedly. So, there is a gap in the abdomen piece that shows when he is bent back.
The caps are there to fill gaps that don't need to be there if there is no range on the ball. In they case it should just be the shoulder filling the gap

because of the paint errors on Batman.

Hush is a good villain with interesting motivations. Heart of Hush is definitely his best story to date.

True. It definitely feels like they've been doing the whole "quantity over quality" thing considering all of the releases that they've been announcing & putting out. Which would be fine if they just stopped a little in order to refine their methods on how they do their DC figures, since a good majority of them seem to always have at least something wrong/off about them.
So far out the mcfarlane batmans my favorite is the 6in page punchers batman and rebirth. This one is ok but page punchers batman looks the best to me
Honestly Batman Hush is overrated, but Heart of Hush is a really good story (and a short one it is)

I’m always excited to see reviews of figures I passed up on deep discounts. This 2-pack was like $25 a couple weeks ago and it was still a no.
The sneezing villain isn’t my favorite, but the shoulder/chest/waist/hip proportions just seem off. And the glaring black joint on the inside of Batman’s arms really needs to be painted. That’s all I see on that figure.
Oddly enough the joint is actually painted black. Baffling, no clue why. You can remove the paint. Check out the review of this 2 pack by Toy Shiz. He removes the paint in the middle of the review.

Hush is a really cool character but him being a Batman villain I feel doesn’t really fit. I feel Hush would of been better as a punisher villain or someone else villain.
clayface was Jason Todd in the original Hush comic series then they made it cannon that it was Jason Todd so.... DC
Hush is a good villain but not one of my favorites like Two-Face or Mr Freeze, good B-Tier villain I think
I guess that the Hush in this set is technically Jason Todd, since they fought in a graveyard in the original story. Maybe that's why he's so short? But that doesn't fly since this is the same figure as the single release... oh well. I have no idea why they would cover up that Jim Lee designed Robin/Hush costume. I'd probably get this set if Hush wasn't a traffic cone 💀

The 3 C's for every action figure manufacturer---Cherry pick...cherry pick...cherry pick. This 2 pack lands in the turd pile for me and will even stay there even if it reaches the 99 cents price range. Not sure whats going on with that company, they release Ghost-maker, which gives me a pretty decent ninja type figure (don't know the character, so in my toy universe it's a generic ninja), and then they release this turd 2-pack. Cherry pick, cherry pick, cherry pick.....nuff said
