This is probably the most interesting and informative videos as the "conversation" really reveals the minds of these two photographers. Please do more of these!
Great to see you guys together again. I'm shooting mono in Tokyo ( mostly Kamata to Kojiya ) all month. These videos keep me focused on the excitement of just walking and taking photos. Well done both.
I struggle so much with the 28mm, I’m rarely pleased by the shots I get. Seeing the photos you get with it gives me motivation to keep trying. I’m reassured that the reason I don’t get good photos with that focal length is that I haven’t developed the skill for it.
Great video guys. And looks like an interesting city. Re-snap focus: I always have mine set on snap and I also have assigned the fn button for af, so af is instant if I need it.
Thank you so much for making this video to make a comparison between GR III and GR IIIx! It's really helpful. Both of them are great, but I prefer the lens expression of GR III, which is really suitable for the streets culture. How about portrait? It doesn't show this part in the video.
Love the buddy vlog! Love that line "art is personal" which it is! It was interesting watching you two look around in different directions for "that shot" seeing it from different perspectives. As far as black & white, cities like Chicago and New York I can see doing In B&W but colorful cities it makes no sense to me!
Was trying to decide whether to get the gr iii or the gr iiix. Low and behold, Ricoh makes the perfect video. Take both cameras around to the same locations to show how each differ in feel. Now I know which i'm going to get. You folks killed it
Thanks for watching :) In this video I only used the out of camera Jpegs with the Positive Film Effect. But usually I do use the Cobalt RIcoh GR Profiles on my RAW files. Then I only adjust white balance and contrast.
@@SamuelStreetlife i saw that. Just after this video, I watch the one where you talk about profiles. Very interesting. 👍🏻👍🏻 Back in Germany? When do you come to Paris? 😀I think I am going to give a try on these cobalt profiles. Hard to install on computer and iPad?
Preserving history - Interesting philosophy which adds to the enduring paradox, Street or Documentary? (Not that it matters of course!) - Also dispelling the ‘perfection’ of Japan is interesting … here in the UK, we are indoctrinated how clean and perfect Japan’s streets are, yet here we can see that you too share the same evidence of urban decay (which we SP obviously love!) - great video guys …
Axel and I shoot this with a Nikon Z50 with the kit lens and DJI RSC2 Gimbal. We used standard lav mics and Zoom H1 recorders for the audio and we edit it all in Audition and Premiere.
My feelings about black and white is that I'm cutting out some of the fun of the challenge. Colour sometimes makes you work a scene more, and I feel like whenever I have to do that the shot is better because I really thought about it. Axl got a great shot at 19:45. It felt very much like cinematic blocking with both Sam and Lucasz in a doorway against the old building.
I have a question on Ricoh gr iii street Edition . When I am setting auto iso under M mode and trying to use EV adjustment through the wheel on the RHS I am finding that no matter how much I rotate the wheel EV is getting set at -5 or -4.7 no matter how much I change aperture or shutter speed . And auto iso value is blinking and not changing . How to solve it so that I can use EV setting auto iso
A friend of mine has this cam and was so hard trying to love it, but in the end she's trying to sales it and currently using her old Sony A7r2 with a Kitlens again. Small is not everything. But I like your videos, great talk!!
I’m so stuck between getting the gr iii or the gr iii x does anyone have any thoughts on what to go for. I’m use to shooting on 35mm film cameras so was thinking the gr iiix. but at the same time gr iii and the 28mm lens is just classic and what they are so known for. But it some of you maybe make it an easier choice that would be great. Also this will be my first digital point and shoot camera thanks !
When shooting static scenes like the lockers around 15:30 & the green bars with the stripped pole at 16:12, why would you allow the ISO to go up to 500 or 2000 respectively instead of lowering the shutter speed?
Yeah, could have lowered the shutter speed. There is a lot on my mind when shooting, talking to Sam, trying to make the video work in terms of pacing, where the camera is, etc. So I was a bit careless. On the other hand, 640 ISO on this camera is a breeze. 2000 ISO is a bit noisy but not really. It's perfectly fine. So, it's just not a big deal. :)
Hi! Im struggling between GRIII vs GRIIIx...but after viewing this video...my mind is...please can anyone tell me what is Lukasz sling bag? like it a lot XD
Regarding the snapmode discussion. I never use full press snap but snap mode 95% of the time. Although i also do quick street 95% of the time. F8 1/500 2m is always dialed in and only adjusted when it gets darker. The remaining 5% i use regular autofocus and take my time
It's not really meant as a comparison. It's two dudes shooting with two cameras. That's all. I tend to show a lot of my photos, even the bad ones. Same sent me the ones he wanted to show, so we only showed those. Again, wasn't meant to be a comparison. :)
I’ll be there in 2 weeks..! FINALLY after a few years away. Looking forward to seeing my old favourite places off the usual tourist paths. One of the first places will be the best tendon restaurant in the known universe. Lukasz almost gave away the location in another episode… 😂
Hi. I'm one of the very few users of Ricoh in my country Bangladesh. Total users in Bangladesh is probably not more than 10. I've trying to reach Ricoh GR team through different platforms. But no one responded. So, my question to you is... How can I be an ambassador of Ricoh GR in my country? Please help if possible 🙏🏼
I always learn so much just watching Samuel and Lukasz wander around and find these photos. Inspires me to go out take some photos of my own.
Feels like i havent seen much of the gr iiix photos here, only the gr iii. But good video
This is probably the most interesting and informative videos as the "conversation" really reveals the minds of these two photographers. Please do more of these!
How I love the color of this video!

Friday uploads are the best. Dinner followed by street photography sessions are gold
Absolutely
really enjoyed this format, its very refreshing to have nice conversations and not cuts of the shots
you are right, walking is very good for cardiovascular and stress for heart attack -30%
Color of this video is stunning!!
Thank you!! :)
MORE VIDEOS OF YOU TWO, your personalities and how you two jive and go back and forth is very fun !!!!
Hey, so where is Samuel's spontaneous shot of the running girl? Should be the most interesting frame of this session :)
Great video guys. And looks like an interesting city. Re-snap focus: I always have mine set on snap and I also have assigned the fn button for af, so af is instant if I need it.

Great work by videographer.
Great collab, and entertaining video. Please give us more of it RICOH!

Great walk around and perspectives guys, good points on using snap focus.
Thanks for watching Dan :)
Awesome to see these two together, the conversation was insightful.
For me (in this environment) the 28 equivalent is far better - the greater depth of field is also much better with the wider lens
✌
Wrong
@@CasaFassa - Very helpful reply, thank you
Great to see the two of you guys back together. As for third party batteries Wasabi batteries are pretty damn good after OEM battery.
Was trying to decide whether to get the gr iii or the gr iiix. Low and behold, Ricoh makes the perfect video. Take both cameras around to the same locations to show how each differ in feel. Now I know which i'm going to get. You folks killed it
which ome will u get?
Love both these guys. Planning my first Tokyo trip for early next year! Excited to shoot it on GFX and Ricoh.
Nice combo!! :)
That was a great photo walk. Thank you guys.
I am wondering: do you ever use color preset during post prod? Adjusting colors?

"Take a photo of, basically, nothing" 😆. Love it. That's what I'm into actually 😁

Lukasz is the man! So glad you've got him involved with your channel and products
:)
I’m curious about the video itself. It was done quite well. Who took it and what equipment was used?
Axel and I shoot this with a Nikon Z50 with the kit lens and DJI RSC2 Gimbal. We used standard lav mics and Zoom H1 recorders for the audio and we edit it all in Audition and Premiere.
Where did you get your neck strap?? I've been looking for ages a minimal one like this but cant find it!
oh no I like both. I can't decide between the two focal lengths
Mannn this was a great video and great conversation.
Woop woop!
In this video i seen more keepers from the GR III than GR IIIx. Maybe the wide angle version gives more snapshot freedom.
What was this video filmed on? Lovely film.
My feelings about black and white is that I'm cutting out some of the fun of the challenge. Colour sometimes makes you work a scene more, and I feel like whenever I have to do that the shot is better because I really thought about it.

its actually the opposite of that

wow I wish I could join you guys!

No disrespect.. And maybe it was the photographers but... the regular GR3 was KILLING the photos coming out of the X, in my opinion.
GRiiix dude took one photo.
You can’t count

I'll choose griii if just have one of them, more flexible for me to deal with different situation and environment
Mit dem Foto bei 12:31 habt ihr mein komplettes Japan Bild zerstört. Kaputte Scheibe im Land der Sauberkeit und Ordnung. 🙂

Where can i buy a gr3😊 in tokyo
Can you send me the link for that necklace strap
Hi! Im struggling between GRIII vs GRIIIx...but after viewing this video...my mind is...please can anyone tell me what is Lukasz sling bag? like it a lot XD
It's a little bag from Squallo Works. I think it's only available in Japan.
what camera and lens was it shot on?
This was shot on a Nikon Z50 and kit lens. :)
Regarding the snapmode discussion. I never use full press snap but snap mode 95% of the time. Although i also do quick street 95% of the time. F8 1/500 2m is always dialed in and only adjusted when it gets darker. The remaining 5% i use regular autofocus and take my time
which is better for portraits?
The 40mm iiix
At times the two took pictures of different cameras from the same place but only showed one photo. What is this comparison? Bad.
It's not really meant as a comparison. It's two dudes shooting with two cameras. That's all. I tend to show a lot of my photos, even the bad ones. Same sent me the ones he wanted to show, so we only showed those. Again, wasn't meant to be a comparison. :)
Hi! What are the presets of both GRs? seems that the III is more vivid!
I'm not sure about Sam (GR3x) but my photos are shot in raw and edited in ACR. I think Sam does not edit his and just uses them SOOC. :)
Yes like Lukasz said, I didn‘t edit mine for this video. They are all positive film with reduced contrast probably.
This was a great video and interaction.
You guys take pics for everything lol 😂
I definitely do, haha. I just love clicking that shutter button! :)
in my opinion GR IIIx snaps without people in the frame look kind of empty and not ‘whole’. Also day was meh for light -lack of contrast for my taste
