- Escape from Tarkov developers Battlestate Games are receiving one of the worst community pushbacks I've seen since the Battlefront 2 microtransaction drama.
Why? Well they are selling a new edition of the game for $250. If that already sounds like a scam to you, know it gets a lot worse.

Everyone's saying "Games as a Service are the problem", nope, HD 2 proved greedy ass developers and publishers are the real problem.
Tarkov blew it, DayZ, GreyZone Warfare, Arena Battlegrounds, EVERYONE roasted them.
Tarkov is the biggest cheater fest I've ever seen in 30 years playing videogames.
BTW: +4K hours of tarkov in less than 2 years, I don't play anymore...
Helldivers is a great game, and they really care about the experience, something thd tarkov devs dont care about

Their worst mistake was changing their stance on "DLC" and screwed EoD edition owners.
I think someone let him know that by EU standards it would be considered a DLC and he caved. The community backlash didn't do shit. The lawyers finally found out what he was doing.
As a EoD owner, I dropped the game end of 2022 after playing it for 260h. Cba the game is dead anyways, full of cheaters and this dog company ain’t doing anything about it
@@damnson9170 it is killing a ton of stuff. I recently found a CS 1.6 server local that is invited only and it has been so nice. Zero cheating. Old dudes with decent rankings. Inter team chat before and after again
Developers who create pay-to-win games do not care about anything except money, because pay-to-win defeats the very purpose of playing a game. If they only care about money, don't expect them to treat the player base well. Stop giving your money to pay-to-win developers.

There's also the fact that the price ain't 250$ its 250 plus taxes depending where you live.
Even if is just 10% that means the real price is actually 275$ thats almost a brand new console

How anybody would wanna to play a FPS PC game with crappy mobile game micro's is beyond me. This next level greedy behavior is only possible because Tarkov player's allowed all the other scummy practices from the start. Give a scammer 150$ don't be surprised when they come back asking for 250$.
the 150 was just quality of life stuff that you could get ingame too. takes like a month to earn it all ingame. the new one however is bullshit

@@chazz0418 The other editions were functionally just like preorders for special editions of games in the past. I mean games like Halo Reach, Borderlands 2, console games. Buy the special edition, get a few in game perks, a season pass. Comparing it to mobile games isn't accurate.
And that was the core point. There was actual content to get later with it. It wasn't like a mobile game, where you get in game materials, maybe a few special guns, and a battle pass. You had post launch dlc tacked on with it. That's why so many people bought it.

With the hackers, eternally unfinished ending, severely punishing deaths etc. BSG does not offer product good enough to scam people so blatantly. This is like buying a 2024 ferrari from the dealership, they instead give you a 2005 ford, and then demand an extra 10,000 dollars for the tires.

Also they changed the description of the unique features of the EOD edition after you bought it. And it happened midtream while Lvndmark, the biggest Tarkov streamer was going through the FAQs on their site.
Everyone has already gone back to playing eft 😂 bsg made a announcement single player is gonna be free to EOD owners and they are going to nerf the pay to win features so the players won... kind of it's still 250 for unheard editon but base game is only 50 so it's your choice what edition to buy 😊
One of the things that really upsets me is stating 'it's time to see who the true believers are' so in essence - 'I don't care how much time and love you've sunk into this game or community, either pay me now or you're clearly not a real fan'

great vid little note from the tarkov cominuty though we are pissed because we were promised this and Nikita (the game director) has said in word we get all new dlc for EOD. He then proceeded to backtrack on that and go change the old website describing EOD sooooo yeah he probs gettting sued on top off all this.

I remember when you'd go to circuit city, fry's or other big box stores and buy brand new pc titles for $50. there was no ultra supreme deluxe edition. Sadly it's back when game companies actually loved making games not just bleeding their customer base dry through microtransactions, low value expansion packs, and double initial cost deluxe editions.
Game companies were still greedy back then. It was just much harder to exploit an audience; you saw it with low effort ports, rushed sequels, and unfinished games. They have more ways of doing it now.
And, conversely, you can still very easily find game devs that love making games and love the games that they're making. BG3, especially with how Larian has updated it post launch; Helldivers 2, Lethal Company, Balatro, Holocure, Jedi Survivor. A lot of devs do genuinely work on games they love. But big games get compromised from publishers, and small games rarely get the attention they deserve.
If you're looking for games made by devs who clearly love making games, I implore you to look more in the indie and single A space. There's some genuinely great games there.
You were too young to see it. There was tons of that -- there were even games that were so buggy they were literally not possible to finish. Regularly companies lied about what their game was. You just remember the good games.
There are 10,000 times as many games now, so there will be more bad games. It's also far, far easier to get away with scamming, so you see it more often. But it wasn't for the love of games -- at least not since the late 80s.
Spoken like someone that has never been in arcade where the machines were rigged to make you lose, so you would keep putting in quarters (or nickels).
At no time, ever, have video games been like what you described. Developers do love and always have loved to make video games. No one stays in that industry with its horrible pay and mandatory overtime if they don't love to make games.
But games must make money. It is a business. All game developer, especially a publicly traded one, try their best to make as much money as possible with the least amount of effort. That is standard across all industries in the entire world.

I know exactly why they made arcade games simple to learn and impossible to master: more quarters. Your argument seems to cast shade at me cuz I focused on 1 aspect which was buying a new game on release ( you never did that in the arcade cuz you never owned the machine). How would a "PVE offline mode" use servers?
Just let players host their own servers with friends like Palworld, Zomboid and many other games do.
It also doesn't really work as a explanation for higher prices, when the alternative to the offline/pve mode is just the regular online mode.
There’s speculation that the money wasted on Tarkov Arena has encouraged BSG to go to the PTW dark side so friggin hard.

It should be added that it is 250$ before tax. In Europe tax is included in the final advertised price.
You forgot to mention the fight between EFT and Arena Breakout Infinite community managers. AB manager provoked other manager and instead of just ignoring the tweet, they’ve decided to tell what they’re thinking about Arena Breakout, which was a huge mistake. They dug a grave for themselves.

The server limitation is absolute nonsense. Any limitation is due to BSG's deving incompetence. Instead of designing an actual single player mode that can be locally hosted by the player on his client with just regular progress updates to the BSG servers, the PvE mode BSG came up with is just a regular instance of a raid like for the usual multiplayer PvP servers, just with the player limit set to 1, or 2 for co-op. Thats why they cant run it for everyone. Because its designed in an incredibly and unnecessarily wasteful manner. Theres already free, open-source mods for a true offline PvE Tarkov, and BSG couldnt even bother to look up the GitHub files. They could've hired the devs of the mod, or they could've made the mod official, but no, they went for the laziest, easiest way out. Hosting an entire raid for one person when queue times are 5-10+ minutes for most people.

I have zero interest in Tarkov PvP. I have spent years desperately hoping for a PvE or even co-op experience featuring the same gunplay and gunsmithing. I would have bought this game in an instant if it were reasonably priced. $250 is utterly ridiculous.
If you had the base game I would a told you to install the single player mod but I will not even recommend you buying anything from BSG, fuck em

As an EOD owner since 2018 this is wild. I didn't buy it beacaue of the DLC being free, i bought it cause i love the game. This wont kill the game, but it will make the community distrust the devs even more. Id rather have a working anti cheat than any more maps, modes, clothes, stash space etc
I tried to get a refund on the basic version and support always ignored me. They only care about money.

Pretty sure nit just vendor and progress, but also game servers. It's not actually offline and there is only 1 mention which likely just means not on the main pvp servers. Had they made it actualy offline they probably could have just given access to everyone

I want to play Tarkov since about 2022, but I just can't afford it. It's a great game, but the price definitely rules some people out.

I been playing takov since 2016 Dec, and I agree with general game price going up is reasonable, because price went up past decades means, due to inflation and minimum wage went up, the price wont be the same, i get it, just like bottle of water we buying right now is expensive then past 10-20 years. Price meant to be go up on everything , foods, house, clothing , minimum wage, even bottle of water, which this case i agree with game price shouldn't be the same as past. Developing game wont be done by same price as before due to minimum wage and many other price went up, so i do think its reasonable , but ofcourse, the result of the work has to be solid enough to satisfy consumers . HOW EVER, this case its not really about the price, this is about dis respecting towards to supporters, especially EODs who financially supported the most as well, ( i personally bought 5 EODs for gave aways, ) those Eod users have enough money to spend another 100$, they are not poor which would not afforded 150$ eod at the first place. This is about them changing words about what they promised, and start to actually delete/editing their own web page. This is about we sick and tired about nikita being such stubborn and think his bigger head then consumers. This is about how the company can be so freaking greedy use this kind of BM models, its ridiculous, this isn't tarkov i supported and play back in the days.. as when i bought this game i was 24 , now I'm over 30+ , as my age grows, my passion to tarkov is not the same as before especially after seeing this kinda of exit scam attempts.

The idea that targeting whales with massive prices isn't bad business IF the player base let's it fly. Whales are not price sensitive. You need only appeal to a hand full of people. Targeted marketing is far easier and cheaper than going for mass appeal.

Og tarkov whale here. Got three copies. Two eod. Told Nikita to setup a go fund me so i could send more.
Now i am done, moved on. If he ever makes 1.0 will try it again but why waste my energy on this drama. Everyone should do the same but streamers will stay they earn money from shilling it.
