Why would anyone pay $150 to $250 for an advantage when it's so easy to cheat and the devs dont do anything about it?
Cheats are even more expensive you have to continually pay for them
Yea I saw something where people are paying hundreds a month for cheats. Like car payments..
That they dont do anything about cheats isnt true. Cheaters are getting banned on mass. Its just the incentive to cheat is incredibly high in this game.
In CoD if you cheat you have a high KD, whatever. But in tarkov if you cheat you can extract loot. Lots of loot. Thern you can sell this loot to players who dont cheat. For real money. In tarkov its a job to cheat. So if you make 1k per month selling stuff and get banned once a month, and pay a 100 for cheats a month, you still make good money. Especially in poorer regions. Now we have an actual industry for cheats in tarkov. Something few other games have. Simply by the game design.
Now add to that a deeply flawed terchnical design, which cant be changed without basically redoing the entire game, and we have cheat paradise. With little the devs can do about it
Why would anyone support a russian company that supports genocide?
Hell even if you do get caught cheating the devs run a racket selling new accounts, this is why they are so lax on cheating, it keeps them coming back to buy accounts if they do eventually get caught
"We are having no financial troubles." 1 line later... "It is too expensive to let people play our game." Stellar.
They just figured out its easy not to have financial troubles if you dont run servers but charge for it anyways.

The entire world, not just gamers, have officially escaped Tarkov.

if you knew tarkov's community base, you'd realize everyone plays constantly or always comes back, no one trully leaves because of this game being unique to the point where it's the only game for this itch. If you can name a game like tarkov that isn't the trash cycle frontier, hunt showdown, or grayzone warfare that's moderatly realistic then by all means tell me.
@@darkeclipse506 I play tarkov but calling it realistic is a big stretch av shot people and hit them 16 or 17 times and they have walked away.Arma games are far more realistic just dont think we will find another extraction shooter (not tried grayzone yet like)

@darkeclipse506 I actually had genuine fun with Cycle Frontier and was quite disappointed when they decided to cancel it. Got me to stop playing Tarkov for a while.
In all reality though, I'm kind of done with Tarkov. As an EOD owner myself, I might as well sell my account and make some money back 😂
The fun thing is that this was the game “The Day Before” scammers were trying to emulate. And now Tarkov aspired to surpass them in scamming.
BSG really called The Day Before devs amateurs
the fact you're bringing up devs that actively scammed and comparing them to a work of art that fumbled 1 update because they need more money to fund there game is crazy, not to mention they didin't run and hide, by no means did they run and hide and they did fix the problem. the insults hurt though.

Im sick of all these Reddit Lawyers who don't understand you cannot copyright game mechanics. They can't copyright phrases either, they can only trademark them. Like "Apple Inc." is a trademark, not a copyright.
I mean loading screen minigame is copyrighted.
so yes on some level you can.
the problem is that no one have and would dear to try to copyright let say FPS. because they would get just slamed by every other dev/publisher even one that does not make FPS.
let say Nintendo does not make FPS have never made a FPS ever and will never make a FPS (one of the metro games are FPS so void as a example already but lets pretend).
they would jump in on that and just smack that bugger for trying to copyright FPS games.
and the thing is there is really nothing stoping someone from copyrighting FPS.
@@Zack_Wester That's not how copyright works in most countries. You don't copyright something. If you make it, it is copyrighted by default unless you express otherwise. To "claim" copyright you'd have to open a court case against whoever you think is breaching your copyright. Also copyright is only for written or "artistic" work. "FPS" or "First person shooter" is too short and too obviously a description to claim copyright on.
@@Zack_Wester
"the exclusive legal right, given to an originator or an assignee to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material, and to authorize others to do the same."
The concept of loading screen minigames cannot be copyrighted lol who tried to do that? No concept or genre can be copyrighted, so anyone trying to copyright the concept of FPS would be denied on the face of it because the _concept_ is not an original work. Do you mean the _term_ FPS? Because the term first person shooter has been around for decades and literally anyone could challenge that trademark (phrases cannot be copyrighted.) I don't think they would even have to do it immediately before a trademark is given, they could use it as a defense if the trademark holder tries to go after them.
@@Zack_Wester loading screen minigames are patented, not copyrighted...
There's a huge difference!
You can copyright a specific implementation of game rules. I.e. you can't literally copypasta them. You're right but I just thought it was worth clarifying. It's why during the OGL debacle, people were afraid of using the D&D mechanics because it's not clear which words and phrasings are protected even though the rules are conceptually not protected.
Refusing to give back the $50 as a refund should be enough for a class action lawsuit. Nobody wants a useless key or coupon. They are flat out stealing from you.
I agree but if you already sunk $150 into a video game, why would you go in for another $100. Especially after them bein caught lying. The best way to avoid being scammed is avoid dodgy people/ practices. The devs of this game for example
BSG was also notorious for not helping with people locked out of playing the game for various reasons. The most common one is saw was refusing to help with email mistakes by both the consumer and BSG. This would result in the person who purchased the game being SOL and either having to repurchase the game or wait months for a first response from BSG. They want as much money as possible and they're OK with being shady about it bc they know, "Russia".
The scam for those that bought the previous edition is the cherry on top but even ignoring that part of the drama, locking a game mode behind a $250 price tag is insane and more so when part of that functionality has already been replicated by modders.
I just cannot get over the price they are asking for....both times, to me the cost is mental and its still in early access as well

To be, fair, such as it is, to the tarkov devs it's not like they have a studio funding them. But the price is hilarious yes.
Like I've said before, if these guys get away with selling this to consumers, other big studios will look at this and think that they can do the same thing.
Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda, Blizzard. They will try it. Hell, im sire they have done it before. People will riot and call them out. But some people will buy that expensive version of the game. And it will just continue from there.
Imagine paying 250$ to explore a boring, empty asset map and then die to a guy using aimbot and wall hacks anyway.

@@seekittycat , well, I don't think that is a good way to "joke" about the situation, and idk how any relatively logical individual could come to that conclusion. I could be wrong, but I sure don't see a valid argument to corroborate that mindset.
Also, that last bit you said was insinuating that all these people are buying the $250 edition? What about all the completely valid complaints from those that didn't, don't see a price value warranted, or the ones that bought the last expensive version and are told they no longer allowed to get what they paid for? Seems like your _point_ isn't really including everyone, but making it out to be just people that are paying and complaining, to write a false narrative. They also threw Sigma (EvasionGG owner) out of the emissary program this week for speaking up, and didn't even bother telling her. Also another ex-emissary from the UK (Ironfists) today tweeted that he quit his role, and streaming fulltime, due to threats from BSG due to a tweet he put out. This is a disgustingly crap company, and they are getting what they deserve.

People like to bring up the "don't like it, don't buy it", and this time it was even brought up by the developer himself, but it doesn't work that way. All of this shit is designed to manipulate people into buying stuff they either don't really need or is way overpriced.
I don't want this to turn into a giga long rant about all the tiring stuff in modern "live service" games like battle passes, timed exclusivity and gambling, so I will just say this is interesting because even though a good old no bullshit DLC is in general one of the fairest monetization options you can have, the devs still managed to fuck this up by, on top of the worse issue of not delivering on their promises, making this P2W and way overpriced to get their hugely invested players to buy in. Imagine you're a Tarkov main with thousands of hours and this game is a huge part of your life. The incentive to buy this shit surely is there, if they have the money.

I bought the EoD Edition once I finally hit 300 hours and had no intent on stopping. I genuinely find the game enjoyable solo and especially with friends.
This though? This is beyond bullshit. I think it's a relatively open secret at this point that Tarkov is *never* going to get a full release. BSG are far too slow with updates, too willing to pad time with minor inclusions and far too comfortable with their current scheme to shake things up with an actual full release. By the time all the maps are released, all the planned updates are out, etc, the game will be nearly a decade behind the curve once competitors start creeping in, and they will...they already have. I haven't played for the past two wipes but seeing this... makes me regret being so willing to give them my money in the first place. Greed to the nth degree.

Anticipating the Kira video on this whole debacle. This gon be gud.
the real question is why do they need server capacity for an OFFLINE mode, last epoch did it right there's the online app and the offline app, offline is offline local saves the lot
I remeber when these game modes or King of the Hill and Elimination style matches used to be ny default included in every multiplayer shooter genere game, now its literally one game representative of one game mode, and has extra content included in later, if you beg with your wallet enough.
Developers, here's a simple checklist to determine if something is a DLC?
1. Is it content?
2. Is it downloadable?
Yes to both confirms you have a DLC.
BSG accusing others of plagiarizing is hilarious considering the sheer volume of trademarked and copyrighted content they have included in game assets.

The people on corporate path burn every company under them while churning out temporary profits that leave the companies destroyed in their wake. But they're not judged on the overall life of a company, only on their time they spent their. They can just claim the person who came after them are the reason it's so messed up even though they're the factual reason it's that way. Just like Presidents and Prime Ministers do in the USA and Canada
Like when some insane people tried to blame Biden for there being children in ICE camps when it was because of Trump they got there in the first place. Or people blaming Trudeau for building the oil pipe line when Harper is the person who signed the deal and would have cost billions to break the contract.

That's the culture that's got to change. Money is important but it's not the only thing.
For that exact reason. They see consumers as percentages and quotas, not people.

It's easy to understand why they choose to add more pay to win in EOD.
There is an old video of Nikita CEO of BSG, taking about their first game Contract Wars, it was free to play browser team shooter.
That there more cheaters there is, the more people willing to donate for better equipment, gun's ect in thinking that paying will help them win.
So we have tarkov suffering from cheaters where developers most of the time do nothing and ban cheaters in waves when people start leaving game because of the amount of cheaters. Then again do nothing until community starts rebellion.
And now they add even crazyer pay to win then before. EOD itself was a PayToWin already. You get x2 secure container space, more money, good gun's at start of the wipe. And you already have 0.20 relationship with all trader's, for better understanding other players will need to do from 7 to 12 quest's to progress to lvl 2 of trader's but EOD will need to do 0 quest's for lvl 2. And by the time regular player get to lvl 2 trader's. EOD players will be almost at lvl 3 or at lvl 3 on the way to lvl 4.

“We don’t have server capacity” is such a weird thing to hear in 2024. It’s not like back in the early wow days where expanding capacity required buying new hw, negotiating colocation space (or building a data center) and actually building everything out. More servers are a few text file changes away. There are sometimes some limits in terms of architecture like what helldivers ran into but that was orders of magnitude more than the expected traffic and still took them only a few days to fix.
It's always good to see people who wait a little for issues to settle before they report. Cheers, Kira.
I have zero interest whatsoever of playing a PVP shooter rife with hackers. However, I'd gladly pay $25 for a PVE version that I can play solo. You are spot on.
They've just made competition for themselves, "Gray Zone" was just released on Steam, with mixed ratings. The positive reviews make comments like, "At least it doesn't cost $250." When tens of thousands of people flock to a mixed-review game, and highlight Tarkov's issues in their support of said mixed game, you messed up. Bad.
This fiasco finally made me stop playing after 5800 hours.
There's a hidden perk for Unheard Edition owners and it's a dollop of shit on your upper lip.
Tarkov devs: ahh money printer go brr

Was waiting for you take on this. I guess killing the golden goose is like the fashionable dev thing to do these days.
I would say for the most part this is the best video of laying out what happened though it does feel like a disservice with you leaving out the most recent Reddit post from BSG going over what is changing for each edition but I’ll give benefit of doubt that you recorded this and uploaded before that happened. I really appreciate your take on this and giving great opinions on this vs a lot of the other content creators like Onepeg that just milked this drama or Noiceguy that just cried and changed his name over this. I would disagree on the DLC though as when I got EOD when anything was mentioned about DLC it was always talking about stuff after the release of the game and talked about the scav life dlc as the example of what to expect. I wouldn’t consider the PvE mode a dlc and would consider it something else as it doesn’t add anything to the base game like a normal DLC would so I can understand where BSG was coming from in not originally adding access to this mode to EOD. I also don’t understand why everyone is calling stuff out as pay to win as I don’t see anything that gives you an advantage over other players in fight. Sure you can pay extra to start with some bonus gear at the start of the wipe but if your shit at this game your just gonna loose that gear to a better player, doesn’t really change the outcome. If you’re already a veteran player and start the wipe with that gear I could see an argument that it also you to snowball your progress faster but at the same time a veteran player would have already been doing that and having some starting gear isn’t going to change that.
Tarkov is like that good friend you used to be cool with but then they started doing meth and all you can do is watch them wither away slowly.
Tarkov felt shady when it was first released, sadly i don't trust a lot of the eastern bloc developers, seems like so many just making scam games or finding ways to scam, or outright steal from the players. Guess i was right about Tarkov. Never played it and now i never will. P2W, scamming players who paid 150$, preferential matchmaking.
Don't worry, nobody in the ex-eastern bloc trusts Russians either
Lets be real here, it was not designed as a scam. They developed the game for a long time, and implemented a lot of new stuff.
And even for 150€ you had a lot of content, more than you have with Battlefield. And there the best game version also costs 100+.
And yes while it is strictly speaking pay to win as you do get an advantage, that is so small, its barely relevant.
But still all that beeing said: trying to sell a dlc as a FeAtuRe is bullshit. And Aldingen more and more paid advantages is also not what anyone wants.
Not sure how you can be so positive that the devs of Tarkov did not have the intentions of ripping players off. It’s not like they just had an epiphany and decided it was time to scam… so let’s be real here… they have been shady since it first came out on the scene, I don’t play it, but I keep myself updated on a lot of games.
BYE FELICIA!!!
@@sinnisota2831 Sure they are shady. But not in the way that they wanted to scam, but that they are absolute narcissists, striking people who dont agree, banning everyone who is not 100% on their side, like a cult.
But if you develop a game for like 10 years actively with a lot of new feateres etc, including many of the initially announced features, excluding those that turned out to be technically imposssible as is normal for any early access game, its really not a scam.
Announcing a great game, selling and then immediately stopping development would be a scam. This here is just a case of a CEO completely out of touch.
Imagine paying 3 to 5 times the price of a full game for scraps in a game that's been in beta for over half a decade.

The cherry on top of course is the addition of all of the new p2w garbage that only serves to dumb down your once hardcore mil-sim experience. So they've really fucked their game from all sides.
why is it always so hard to say "we're sorry for what we did" instead of the old "we're sorry you felt bad about what we did."
the moment I hear that I'm not interested in being gaslit and giving whoever said it the benefit of the doubt.
One has plausible deniability, and the other is an admission of guilt. It is not rocket science.
@DotDusk they're not in court, they're trying to do PR damage control.
It's not ticket science, it's not legal liability, it's trying to assuage paying customers.
@@DotDusk it's not rocket science, it's not even a question of legal liability, it's actually PR damage control.
Its the same reason a lot of companies will give you copy and paste support messages instead of actual help, or not tell you why you were falsely banned. The moment they do that one time, its the expected standard. If they do the bare minimum they not only, do the bare minimum, but also are not liable for anything more either. Its the perfect corpo storm
The EoD thing I see differently. The EoD should have been gone after a couple months. It was a special limited edition for early supporters. That's also where they shit on themselves. If like 1% of customers had EoD, they would still make money selling DLC. Most serious players have it now and nobody would have to pay for any DLC that is ever released. So BSG wouldn't be able to make money selling stuff.
That's so crazy that after all this time I just realized. You can mod ARMA 3 to basically play this game for free whenever you want and not only that, but you can set your own rules, assets, etc etc.
I'd expect to get a hand made custom knife with a super steel like Elmax or MagnaCut with that edition
"We're sorry that you're disappointed and stupid, and we pledge to do better with dismissing your concerns in the future."
The repeat mention of these "true believers" makes him sound like a cult leader lmao
LONG LIVE EFT AND NIKITA -- the greatest cult leader to ever develop a game
And now! Back with Ancient Aliens! Ancient Astronauts have always said this pile of poop here looked like the head of an alien! So it shall must be! Amen!
Yah that Gray zone game really got a good launch time put right in their lap. I've seen lots of people playing it and having fun as a tarkov alternative.
Totally unrelated to this video, sorry, but I think Kira should do an epic forensic analysis or Star Citizen, from inception to now. There is so much content to go over after so many years of controversies. Such a video, or series or videos, would be Kira's magnum opus.
Good morning Kira & everyone 😊
Have a fabulous day ❤
It gets worse. They just added more pay 2 win. EoD owners can now summon a personal tank out of thin air! Game is pure garbage.
Have a co-worker who is really big into this game has been for a while I almost bought it about a month ago...so glad I avoided this mess!!
I dont regret spending time with my friends in this game. I regret giving BGS the money.
BYE FELICIA!!!
Angry rant on point👌. Greed in the game industry is wild at the minute. I think we’re about to witness gamings “eat the rich” moment.
There are cheaper collector's edition game bundles, with statues, art books, and all sort of goods inside, that cost less than this.
At 9:43 I instantly thought of OJ saying “Hello Twitter world!”
Gray Zone just dropped and its pretty good. I have never played EFT and wont now. It has PVPVE and PVE for $39.99. It's crazy they pulled this just in time to really boost Gray Zone adoption. Woopsie!
That game released like 6 months early to capitalize on BSG's failure. I think it WOULD be good if they waited. Now it's sitting on "mixed" reviews on steam which will make it impossible to achieve the overwhelmingly positive reviews that it would have gotten, a lot of people will refuse to buy it now. I had hopes for that game, but they're fighting an uphill battle now.
Hey, just letting you know, the Chronicle of Elyria website is down, did caspian finally pulled the plug and went into hiding ? wondering if you have info on that
There was a famous Roman legal scholar who described fraud along the lines of "to present one thing but to do another"
Which is a bit more wide than the legal definition, but I believe it to be closer to the common persons definition.
Also the server costs are just an excuse. They said they would never do PVE. All they would have had to do is say that they are now doing it but your offline character will be managed client side, maybe even without co-op and people would have been just happy they are getting any kind of PVE TBH. Nobody was expecting PVE at all let alone co-op so even if they just added offline progression ran on the clients PC that would have made a bunch of people happy. Then they could even look into allowing local host co-op too. You would have to get the friend with the best CPU etc to host the lobby but it would still be better than nothing and there would be no server costs for Battlestate to maintain.
Server costs are immaterial. Literally. You could run 1000 instances of a 64 player Quake 2 CTF match with some pretty amazing bot opponents on a modern machine. Complete horseshit excuse.
The term DLC is so duvirced from what it originally wqs its insane. People call actual mmo expansions DLC. ESO calls their updates DLC. At this point them bullshitting and saying "Its not dlc" isn't surprising, but they are still full of shit.
The cost of the PVE mode is because it's one of the main pay-to-win elements. Progress in gearing and rep are passed from the PVE to PVP. It allows whales to get kit and rep safely, then enter PVP ready to win.
Thank you grey zone warfare. Day 2 and it's in a good state ATM. I've been EOD for 7 years now. I don't play anymore but if I ever do I play SPT 👍😁
The fact that EOD holders were given access to Arena (a totally separate executable in the BSG launcher) but not this is insanity.
$150 when a lot of people bought EOD in 2017, would be $190 today.
