      Actually this one is even good enough for both worlds jigging n casting ( u may go for higher gear ration if popping only is what u r after) , fast enough n strong teeth for tough cranking .

    Does the main shaft have play? Does the stella feel like a toy after using saltiga? As my friend on youtube friend told me that there was play in the shaft as well as in the spool.

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doesn't have any play. And I do despise any play in my reels. When asked to compare the Saltiga and Stella I always say the Saltiga does feel more sturdy or heavy duty. Both have been great with no issues so far. Knock on wood.

      @teammusky7469 It would. Depends on the scenario. If the GT had structure close by, it would be challenging. If you were in open water with the right rod, yes, this Stella would manage it.

    • @ScottMikles

      It might be due to the ratio. The faster ratio reels have the known like mine I believe.

    • @domvolpe1977
      @domvolpe1977 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not an expert but I think you could spool mono, but I would imagine most users will use braid or PE to get the most line capacity. Great gift, your Dad is going to absolutely love getting the rolls Royce of reels!

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Beautiful gift. I would recommend braid, but if you must, I don't see why mono would cause much issue. It is designed for braid though. That's my objective answer. Personally, I would never put mono on a Stella. Thanks for watching

    Hi Scott, why do they include the oil bottle if there is no maintenance port screw on the reel?

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, I suppose you could put some drops in a couple high friction areas like the crank. Honestly, I haven't looked into disassembling it yet.

    • @tightlines6641

    • @maasai-
      @maasai- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a little screw in the line roller assembly to put some oil lubrication.n u can always put some drops in the gear box ball bearings handle connection.

    Would you choose this over the saltiga??

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. Anytime I get asked that, in my opinion, it comes down to preference. They are both phenomenal. I haven't had any issues with either. Both perform as expected. The Saltiga is a touch more durable and solid feeling. The Stella edges the Saltiga out on smoothness in reeling just barely.

    • @GregClaud
      @GregClaud ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottMikles Are the Stella and the Saragosa sealed the same? Do you know?

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Greg Claud They are not. Daiwa uses a magnetic lubricant called Mag Seal and Stella goes another route. The Mag Seal tech is exclusive to Daiwa for the most part. I've had zero issues with any of my Mag sealed reels and one has been overboard twice. Only downside is the expense of it if you ever fully break a Daiwa reel down. That signature sauce isn't cheap.

    • @GregClaud
      @GregClaud ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottMikles I was referring to the Saragosa and the Stella. Not the saltiga.

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Greg Claud Ah, sorry, didn't see that. I always get asked about the other two.
      I know that the Twin Power is, I can't be certain on the Saragosa. I would guess it is since it's marketed as a saltwater reel.

    There is no way id get that. Did you see that parts list? There's a million little parts that could go wrong. Id way rather have a Daiwa saltiga. Half the parts, built like a tank, better drag. Its a beautiful reel just not for me. saragosa or a Maverick

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  ปีที่แล้ว

      They've both been phenomenal so far. No issues with either. When asked which is better, I normally say the differences are negligible and it comes down to preference type things. Aesthetics, feel, drag sound etc. I have heard of more Stellas breaking than Saltigas, but haven't had issues with either yet, knock on wood.

      @fishingislife34 Right, if asked about durability Ill tell people Saltiga. Personally, tbeyve both had zero malfunctions. But to your point, I have heard of guys fishing them real hard on tuna and gt that have had gear problems and broken line roller bearings. I have fished both hard on big amberjacks with almost max drag and no issues yet. Knock on wood.

      One of each.
      After owning both, I always say it really comes down to preference. Havent had an issue with either. Both 55lbs of drag. Both sound and look awesome. Both feel great to spin. They really are so close performance wise. I havent had issues but Ive seen more stellas fail than saltigas. The Saltiga seems a tiny bit more rugged to fight with fully locked.
