  • In this video I do a quick bit of tackle talk with the latest release Shimano Stella SWC 5000XG that hit the shelves in March this year. I run through a few of the new features and show you how to spool it up and overcome any problems you might face along the way.

    Great video, got a 6000HG, unfortunately my line will not lay properly, with or without shim. Had to take the spool holder off to get proper lay and I know that’s not right. Waiting on a reply from Shimano. At this point, not a happy camper. My Twin Power was flawless out the box.

    Hey mate I’m buying the 6000 model but can’t decide on the XG or the HG. I do a fair amount of shore jigging but also a bit of work with bibbed minnows and top water. Do you think the 6.2:1 with 112cm or the 5.7:1 with 103cm would be more preferable in my situation? Thanks.

    • @LiamFitzpatrick
      @LiamFitzpatrick  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think popping or jigging or even fishing plastics you want to pick up line quick. If you need to pick up line quick between pops or when a fish hit your jig on the glide or your plastic on the drop. If you can pick up line quick to set the hook it’s really advantageous mate.

    Hi Liam, thanks for the video. I would like to ask a favour - I don't know anything about fishing but want to purchase this reel for my dad as a gift. I saw him google 'Shimano Stella 4000' and '5000'; I found the SWC range models in 4000XG, 5000XG and HG after some searching myself. I've overheard in past conversations that he was eyeing the 4000FJ and saw a bloke about it last year, but just to admire from afar. I know he has a boat but also fishes from the pier at the beach, and found an online purchase for a Kastking Kodiak 2000 and 5000. I apologise if this doesn't narrow it down enough. What would you personally recommend I go with to be safe? Much appreciated.

    Hi Liam, just on reels, using 4 kg braid for bream and flathead flicking lures what would you choose between the stradic 1500 or a Diawa sol, I have 3 stradics and a sol, love them all but I kinda feel the line comes off the Sol better casting wise.

    • @LiamFitzpatrick
      @LiamFitzpatrick  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Up to you mate. They both would their own advantages. I like the internals of the former. They just seem to last.

    • @DoomiePookie
      @DoomiePookie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      alleycat ive used both the sol and stradic and you’re right, the sol (and the freams) do cast very smoothly compared to the stradic, but my mag sealed daiwa reels have been in service more than once because of accidental water splash/penetration compared to my ci4 stradic which i have literally accidentally fully submerged it in salt water for over 30 seconds and its had zero issues. I also fully hose down my stradic after each use and its never had issues. I cant do this with the daiwas. Daiwa is smooth, Shimano more durable.

    • @LiamFitzpatrick
      @LiamFitzpatrick  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s my opinion mate.

    • @kailebchick89
      @kailebchick89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Liam Fitzpatrick I will be targeting multiple species of reef fish and other Pelagics, casting on reef flats/points. I’ve had some fun with a Stradic 5k on all these species but I’m going for an upgrade with a bit more strength as I’m worried about getting destroyed. I will also take the reel off the casting rod and put it on a Terez for bottom bashing.
