I remember in the late 80’s photo class in high school, fining a 100’ roll of Pan-X that had expired in 1977. Teacher let me had so I scrounged some cash for a bulk loader. HC110 was indeed possibly the best developer for this film. I remember when Kodak finally discontinued it as Tmax 100 was basically ousting it. It is a very special film and always out to find some as well.
I love Panatomic-X, it is the one old film stock that I will hunt down online and pay almost any price for them. That said, I found that you can make TMax 100 look pretty darn close to Panatomic-X. You'll want to shoot the film at ASA-32 (most cameras will have that setting at the tick just above the 25 mark), then a 1.5 stop pull in development. I found that HC-110 Dilution H (1+63) for 10:15. Also excellent images and thanks for the shoutout!
Awesome Alex. I will try that. I don’t think I have ever shot TMax 100.
I developed 50 year old pan-x in reconstituted 1963 microdol-x powedered fine grain developer from a sealed tin, in 2013. Shot the RC Harris, at the east end of Queen street, filtration plant in winter with a 1936 6x6 super ikonta 530/16 uncoated Tessar.
Like your tip about tmax and hc110. Must try. I use stand development now because I can walk away while it develops.
Wonderful video. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏
Wow that is indeed a very beautiful film. I love its warm tones and it’s amazing that after 40 years you can’t even hardly see the grain. Lovely film. Cool video again Aly!
Thanks Davy!
Great film, great photographs, great video. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Merlin.
It was my fave film when as a teen I started shooting in the late seventies. I find low speed film decays way slower than higher speed emulsion. Background radiation, heat and humidity are enemies. I’ve shot pan-x box speed that was 50 yrs old with good results. Developed in 50 year old can of powdered microdol-x fine grain developer.
I need to try that. A viewer sent me a bag of Microdol powder to try and I have been afraid to try. Any tips?
fun video i just picked up a roll from 87' look forward to shooting with it on my kodak retinette 1a
:)
Thank you! Nice pairing I hope you enjoy
Really nice results, thank you for sharing your experience!
Thank you!
great photos! Love the sneaky triangle under the tree.
Thank you!
Fine images and great tonality! I really like Panatomic X and I’m lucky enough to have two 50 feet bulk rolls (one unopened, and one with just 3-4 36 exposures shot). Next time I shoot it, I’ll try to experiment a bit more with developers.
Oh man lucky guy!! Yes it’s a great film. Thanks for watching
Don’t feel bad I’m 69 and can’t swim either. My wife floats like a damn cork but is petrified of bridges. She closes her eyes when going across one even if she is driving. I don’t let her drive much. Love B/W and shot many different emulsions over the years. Panatomic is a great one. Right now my favorites are HP5+ and Tmax400 but Ilford Delta is fast becoming a favorite.

Thanks Robert! Just followed you back. Great photos especially the birds. I absolutely love taking pics of them. It’s therapeutic. I need to get back into that. I don’t get many around my new house anymore.
Anyway, that’s funny about your wife I’m the same way. My fiancé has to drive I just can’t do it lol
Your awesome
Thank you!
Youve got some stunning results from this old film! The oldest film I've used was from 1997, and it was in terrible condition haha!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yes This film was definitely the best expired film I’ve ever experienced lol
@@AlysVintageCameraAlley they turned out really well! I've done a few videos on expired film too!
@@acecreates cool. I’ll check them out and I’ve subscribed
@@AlysVintageCameraAlley ill be checking out your vids too and supporting your channel!
One of my all-time favorite films. I used to shoot that back in the 70s and early 80s. I miss Stuart, I need to return. I’ve done a couple of photo shoots and street photography there.
It’s really a beautiful film. Cool you know Stuart. It’s a nice city. Where did you do the street photography?
@@AlysVintageCameraAlley - I live just South of West Palm Beach and work near Jupiter and I have friends in PSL. I like photographing around the courthouse and theater by Flagler and down Osceola where a few older houses are. Same area where you shot around Riverwalk.
@@qnetx what a small world!
I have 200 ft of this film I got from the local community College class I took, didn't know it was *that* expensive
Dang I’m jealous lol
Oh man, what a cool film! Do you think it's so resilient because it's such a low iso maybe?
That could be part of the reason from what I’ve heard. I really don’t know much about the chemistry of film or how it works so I can’t say definitely.
Agama’s are invasive and released from hurricanes taking out reptile hobbyists and breeding projects at zoos. I love those lizards but not ok with being invasive…
Is that their name? I agree. It’s getting to be overwhelming. They’re everywhere
