Well, you did ask nicely... and I don't see guys like Wirtual or Scrapie getting into the nitty-gritty like this, so... what the heck; enjoy the new sub.
Why don't you just copy the training campaign into your club and add explanatory/explaining scenery to it? Become the recommended place for the training maps... I'd prefer your training campaign over the default one.
Cool video to get people to know about gears! Although the lack of visualisation may lead to new players still struggling. For those who haven't fully grasped gears from this video, I'd recommend a guide by Ski Freak TM - The ultimate guide to trackmania gears.
very well explained while maintaining humour as well as facts. Nice balanced video as well as very much informative. Clearly there is no argument about the training maps being useless the way they are currently in game. I seriously hope that you continue this as a series and bring more content on the same path and vision for new beginners like me. thanks for sharing this one and good luck for the future ones.
It's true the tutorial doesn't do a great job telling you how to actually play the game properly. The way I learned how to actually take turns was through the TMSchool club in Trackmania 2020--specifically the TMS Road Campaign, because its margins for error and author times are much tighter. Those tracks teach you just how important precision is in this game, and they also teach you about drifting, which the tutorial doesn't do at all.
i played TM for nearly 300h and got all AT's in the past 4 Saisonal Campaigns (this current is still missing map21 (0.152 seconds)), BUT I was not aware of this. I know there are gears and you need to predict/manipulate them in your favour, but this videos content is news to me!
He already has a two-year-old video _(the most popular one on his channel)_ detailing most of these tricks briefly. But if you're new to Trackmania, trying to learn shit like nosebugs, neo-slides or ice wiggles will probably hinder you more than help. _(Mostly because the ice physics in the game seem to change with every season, so wiggles aren't something you should go out of your way to memorize.)_
just as a quick recommendation: visualize the Gear Shifts you were talking about (can even be the mentioned plugins) People wont always pay attention to such subtle sounds like the ingame gear shifts
That’s why every now and then while grinding a track, I’ll just randomly have an insane run, then wonder why it was faster than the others probably. Usually I just copy my path and brute force till I find another improvement. This is a good thing to think about instead of trial and error
If you are in a situation where your gear will happen during a turn, it’s usually faster to avoid the gear altogether. Otherwise it’s usually best to get upper gear early if you can hold it. ☺️
With that being said, most maps usually have calculated gears, and you should be able to gear up on straight sections, unless you are doing the map wrong or too slow 😅
Great video! Can you make a video on reactor zoops? I feel like of all advanced techniques, that one has the least information online, at least from what I can find.
This is so on point as a new player i strugled with the 3rd map of the campaign i did it opsisivly until i realisd that the gear shift whats making me slower i would have killed for this video 2 weaks ago
Thanks a lot! Can you please also explain the differences in turning/ steering in the different gears? I don't know what they are but I heard that there are differences depending on the gear you're on so you should take the same turn different in different gears...
very well done and explained, but i got this video recommended, that's why i found it. I have looked for an hour trying to find the right video by search but the title just didn't really convey any of the video's contents would've been cool to have links to the other tricks if you made videos about them, for example i find absolutely 0 about water bounces, only did it once randomly
rocket league doesnt have a tutorial either. and i dont see the problem in it, why shuld a game explain mechanics the players discoverd over years of playing. there is no need to explain how to half flip in rocket league (a fondumental mechanic) or how speedsliding works in trackmania. the game has nothing to do with it becouse the players discoverd it
Thanks for watching! Still a super tiny channel, so any view/like/sub helps tremendously! Thanks for your support everyone ❤️

Good luck with map 21!!
BRO THE MUSIC FROM BOMBERMAN HERO, SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Those extra +5 speed in-game will be very helpful, thank you!
Great video. Appreciate how much effort went into the production value.
Hey Jnic, great video! You think you could do some more about a few of these at 0:27 ? :D

Bro I love your videos. Legit you’re my favorite Trackmania youtuber
Good video ! Really makes you think of the need for a good tutorial like the tms maps for beginners.
Please more videos like this about more hidden mechanics! Good video jnic
goated tutorial, maybe i'll finally learn gears after a year of playing
just as a quick recommendation:

Quality video, great work! This will help me gear up to the next level. :)
I’m interested in the topic of when is it best to gear up at a bad time vs releasing to avoid the gear up?

TM School. Done.
Hey Jnic. I was wondering if you have an editor, and if you don't, are you looking for one? This video was really well edited btw!
+5 speed in life
This is so on point as a new player i strugled with the 3rd map of the campaign i did it opsisivly until i realisd that the gear shift whats making me slower i would have killed for this video 2 weaks ago
I got all 25 training ATs before knowing about gears.. took me a long time, now I wanna go back and see how I’d do after having more experience lol
Thanks for the video! I now know one of the reasons why I usually suck at the game ahahah
I hadn't played for 10 years after playing only tech in tmnf and gears are still the most confusing to me. Good explanation.
My man, jnic is doing God's work
Thanks a lot!
Can you please also explain the differences in turning/ steering in the different gears?
I don't know what they are but I heard that there are differences depending on the gear you're on so you should take the same turn different in different gears...
Thanks, this helped me a lot!
this is ultra sigma
just went back to try it after this and finally got the author medal :P
very informative, enjoyable to watch, console inclusivve, great vid!
Why do I know so much about Trackmania mechanics without ever having played it.
Here because of the plug on Wirtual's stream
Fantastic as always.
Good vid for the new players
What about gearing up while on a low steering angle? Seems to work for low gears
It’s fine if the angle is low enough for your car to “no slide”
very well done and explained, but i got this video recommended, that's why i found it. I have looked for an hour trying to find the right video by search but the title just didn't really convey any of the video's contents

They should add a real tutorial section similar to the Trials University in Trials Fusion. It would really make the game more accessible.
Great video, well explained. Maybe they can remake the tutorial when console gets added? (Doubt) Otherwise they just have to watch this video.
Good stuff 👍
I am not the only one who immediately went Training 02 and failed to get AT anyway, right? :D
you should do a video about gears on ice
Don't steer when you gear!
My very simple explanation:
Sliding loses you speed. If you gear up while steering, you will get a bad gearshift.
Nice vid, Jnic! More like this soon? peepoShy
esports scene aint thriving anymore unfortunately @nadeo
Dont steer when you gear
Noten
Yeah, consoles… Still not released :(
This is ok, but shouldn’t you talk about noslides and action keys? Those are just as important and save more time than just getting the gear.
its not as useful as gears
@@adyux_tm aren't noslides specifically related to gears
@@perleFF its kinda related but its not exactly the same utility
I love you!(no homo)
