  • We'll show you how to travel vlog in the car using a 2 camera setup. Every time we go on a road trip, we film a travel vlog. This isn't easy, but we've perfected the car vlogging set up with a pretty minimal set including GoPros, Snap Mounts, and a 2-person wireless microphone system. This video is especially aimed at 2-person or couple vlogging teams, but can also be used by solo vloggers.

    Thank you so much for this video! Such good, clear advice which I really appreciate. I was starting to wonder whether it could ever be possible for me to film my driving footage and do an "ok" job of it but now I feel so inspired like it's within reach. Thanks guys and keep up the great work :)

    Nice. I do some footage of while I'm in the truck... In Toronto Canada I feel like I'm either blasting the heat or blasting the AC, with no in between, so I just ordered up a wireless lav mic because I was getting a lot of noise from my V8 plus the climate control going... hopefully this set up will be nicer.
    I like the GoPro filming inside the truck, or even my Galaxy S10, and the Insta360 One R with the 360 Mod for outside filming so I can track cool things outside in post as I'm driving up to them and past them. Great video as always, please keep em coming.

    Stumbled across your video while researching in prep for a very long road trip. I found your choice of Saramonics intriguing and will purchase a pair. As a side note, I grew up in the PV / Scottsdale area, so a fascinating coincidence. Aloha and mahalo nui loa! (subscribed)

    Very useful video. That Snap mount is amazing - not sure whether I would trust it on uneven bumpy roads!!
    So glad Martin is testing it. Is the snap mount in your gear list?

    • @Gemini_Connect

      The Snap Mount is surprisingly very steady and strong. We drove up to 60mph and it didn't budge. After testing, it has become a part of our GoPro gear list.

    Thanks again for the very helpful video! I do have the following questions...
    1. Will the snap mount scratch the car?
    2. What is the bottom piece of the snap mount for?
    3. Have you thought of tethering your GoPro in case it comes loose?
    4. I see a lot of videographers shooting, like you, from the roof of the car. I shoot from the front of the hood so you only see landscape in the picture. Any thoughts?
    Thank yo so much for what you guys do. I have learned a lot so far, and I'm an old guy. So I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. Not likely, but it comes with a thin pad you can use to protect your car.
      2. You can attach it to another mount (ie tripod) to quickly mount from there to car, etc.
      3. Nope. We're not worried about it coming off.
      4. Sounds like a good angle!

    I loved this video!! The only confusing thing was how to connect the mic to the goPro which is on top of the car. Can you do that? Or do you need two goPros, one for outside and one for inside or is the Media Mod compatible with the handle you used to put the goPro in the car? Thanks!

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To connect an external mic to GoPro, you need a much adapter or Media Mod. You *can* attach it to the camera outside of the car, but it's risky; we personally attach the mic to a second GoPro that is pointed at us inside of the car.

    Did you find it difficult to get your camera mounting fingers to fit in the Snapmount at first? Mine was a very tight fit, and when I measured the gaps with digital calipers, I found it was under-sized. Either they've designed it wrong (design for an interference fit, instead of clearance with compression from the thumbscrew), or their molding tolerances are too large.

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! It's very tight for some reason.

    Hi new here! 🥰. Im going on a (solo) roadtrip from cali to Oregon&Washington. Im unsure to which device i should use. Either canon g7x Mii. Or a gopro9. I just want to record the drive when im in oregon and washington. The scenery. And my hikes in the forests! Only thing as a con for me is the fish eye look in the go pro. Only negative for me. Any suggestions? Thankyouu

    The wireless mics that you are using in the car, Do you have to sync that with the video during editing. Also, are these in your opinion still the best option?
