  • This Sears Craftsman air compressor was purchased during the late 1980's by my father and ever since I can remember it, it kept on blowing the relief valve.
It has been passed on to me and after using it for a couple of years in that defective state, I finally decided to repair it.

Lucky you, I have a Craftsman 919, 30 Gal., 3.5 HP and it runs but won't shut off. I bought a new pressure switch, $86, after replacing it the same thing is happening, it won't turn off. I let it build to 180psi but no luck. I was hoping this video had more about that.

Sorry to hear that. Give me the complete model number.

@@NextLevelAutoDiagnostics the new switch didn’t have plumbing for the relief valve and I think without it the compressor will just pump and pump so I need to get one and install it.

@@dannyorsello8668 My replacement switch was identical to the original and worked perfect.

I have almost the same compressor. My compressor starts and stops normally when it is full. But when the pressure drops, it doesn't want to start pumping again and trips the circuit breaker. I checked the capacitors in the motor and one of the capacitors was bad. I replaced it and it still does the same thing. Can I assume the motor is going bad?

Looks like when the old caps leaked it creates a short

@@NextLevelAutoDiagnostics I will have to check the motor windings for any short to ground.

If something isnt working and you replace a part on it to get it running again then it is repaired
