  • The regulator valve on my craftsman air compressor has been leaking for a long time. I am finally getting around to replacing it.

Same piece broke on mine. Can't believe that nylon gasket isn't available. My new regulator arrived today.

I know this is one thing wrong with mine. I cannot get air to stop coming out the black knob no matter how much I turn it left to right, and so much air the compressor rarely shuts off. Fingers crossed I just purchased the the regulator, hoping that fixes it.

I agree with you. Sounds like the regulator. Mine leaked since new, slowly, but always leaked. New one hold pressure much longer. Hope it solves your problem.

I would like to see a pressure shut-off adjustment. My Sears compressor just wants to keep on running.

Does it continue to build pressure? That could be a dangerous situation. The cutoff switc could be malfuntioning. Unfortunately, I don't have this compressor anymore. So I cannot make another video on it.

Excellent instructional! I just bought a 6 hp 150 PSI Craftsman, and believe the regulator may be clogged or malfunctioning. Will the regulator you use fit? If not, any suggestions? I'm going to test it tomorrow in the am. Thanks for your time.

Glad you liked it!. The best thing to do is get the model number of your compressor and go on searspartsdirec.com and check and see if it is the same.

I’m looking at buying a used one. Same mode. Anything I should check for that comes to mind? Thanks

There is a date code on a plate welded to the tank. Recent compressors are only designed to last 10-15 years. You also don't know how well it was maintained. Let some air out of the drain if rusty water comes out, walk away. I have purchased a new on to replace the one in the video because I know it was not well taken care of and it is 23 years old. I don't need it blowing up in my garage. I am going to make a video decommissioning the old one in the near future.

Are you able to see the tank pressure and regulator/tool pressure separately still?

Awesome video! New subscriber here!! 👍🏼This is the exact video I needed to fix my craftsman. Would you by chance know what thread size I would need for the air hose coming out of the regulator? Could you provide a link please. TIA

Thanks! Unfortunately, I am not sure. There is an adapter that goes in between the hose and the regulator, so there probably is a standard hose size and then they use an adapter to step it down to the size needed for the regulator. The part number for the adapter is H-2101, but it is no longer available on the sears parts direct website and I am not having much luck searching the internet for it.

I have a compressor which I installed a 2 port regulator in and out the only time I see the regulator adjust is when the output is open. It seems wrong

Generally, for me, the needle goes up when I increase the pressure, but when I reduce the pressure, the air has to flow to show the change. If that is what you are seeing, that is normal.

The compressor turns off when tank reaches 40 psi. How can I increase the pressure psi.

    • @TheFixitShed
      @TheFixitShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

You may have a problem with the pressure cut off switch, or you may be able to adjust it. I don't have a video on doing this, but there are a bunch on youtube. Example: th-cam.com/video/_V7SEGPwQ7M/w-d-xo.html

I think there was more water then air in there

Probably. The original drain valve never worked since new. After a couple years I replaced it with the one currently in it. That is probably 15 years old and I can probably count on one finger how many times I have used it. It now no longer works. The o ring seal broke. I had to cobble something together so I could finish the video. New drain valve extension is on the way.
