there is an alternative take with the guitar solo instead of the hammond solo.... but this is a "copy and paste" mix, you can here at the end of the guitar solo. I think this album is excellent, all the songs are anthems. Love this guys!
I really enjoyed this mix. Never heard the extended guitar solo before. They should have used it on the Stormbringer album. Never really appreciated this album as a teenager but with age I have come to appreciate how good the album really was. I can say the same about Come Taste The Band. Back in the day I never truly got it. I do now.
Great unheard guitar solos at the end...Blackmore and Purple at their best. Stormbringer is one of my all time favourite album, the songwriting quality is excellent.
Have a [re] listen to Come Taste the Band. I've rediscovered it and I must say it seems to have matured like a fine wine. What got me listening to it again is that I saw something on TH-cam with Jon Lord. Jon said (wtte) that "although it mighn't have been Deep Purple I'm very proud of that album." I always loved Jon Lord and I dusted off my pristine and rarely played vinyl and heard it again. It is a classic rock album ie to me classic rock is an album that doesn't age. Come Taste the Band is a better album than Stormbringer - it just is. Yeah it's called Deep Purple but really listen to it, and you'll discover something I had ignored, because like you I liked Stormbringer more.

Stormbringer destroyed DP at that point; this song is the only one at the level of the Burn album (bc it resembles Lay down stay down) and the rest of the album very sloppy, by purple standards. Blackmore turning 30, he felt he had a decision to make bc he perceived the band as going down, and said "purple is what I like most in music, but the earlier albums" meaning Stormbringer was a failure, so he left. The other bloke Bolin from Iowa US did what he could to keep the sound going but purple needed Blackmore. I guess you too see a resemblance between Hughes and Bolin... Like brothers lol
The inclusion of the great Blackmore guitar solo of the instrumental demo version into the (too) short finalized Stormbringer version is a very good idea. The addition of the guitar improvisation (I haven't heard before) as intro is also fine. Highball Shooter wasn't my favourite MKIII song, but I really like your "remix".

A very good Ritchie guitar solo. It is very strange that the final Stormbringer version didn't include any guitar solo. The problem of Stormbringer is not the songs which are very good but the lack of extensive instrumental parts. The album is only 36mn long for 9 too short tracks.

When I first bought this album on cassette back around 1990 or so, I was attentive to the unique sound of the backing organ on this track. I didn't know it then, but now I realize either the band or the producer was trying to pull a Lee Michaels sound here!
Very good topic in this training. Personally, I think that the best stage of creation of the band Deep Purple was in the second, that is, the one known as Make II. I mean Gian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Piace, Richie Blacmore, Jon Lord. With these 5 Deep Purple I achieve a sound and records that forever stamp the Deep Purple style. It is my humble opinion.
This Mark of Purple is incredible in my opinion. Jon Lord just destroys on this. This makes me Happy Everytime I hear it.
