One of the best hard rock songs ever recorded...an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Kudos to Ritchie, Cozy and Ronnie (RIP for the last two) for this recording!
@@24SparrowJack Cozy must have been one of the first people killed whilst driving whilst on a mobile phone Not very Rock 'N Roll. Such a waste of life. My favourite track with him drumming is Long Live Rock And Roll. Pure power.

Текст песни конечно очень актуален, как тогда, так и сейчас, особенно для нас. А Дио стоит своего псевдонима, лучший вокалист в истории рок-музыки с запасом. Любимая песня, слушал тысячи раз, и все не надоедает.
+perpetual61 They could have lived to be 100 years old and they still would have died too soon. Tragic, though, that they weren't really even old by today's standards.
Amazing song , built for Ronnie’s amazing voice , the guitar is outstanding , keyboard’s beautiful but for me the highlight is Cozy on drums , powerful and commanding ❤
This song has everything! No music like this anymore. Because music today is just industry. Old rockers play music because they love it, and you can feel it.
Yeah it's almost magical, so much emotions listening to it for the first time. Wow I have been missing out, I need to look this band up. But this song......holy hard to describe.
People are threatened by real music it has to be watered down. Dio sounds on the verge of collapse by then end of this recording I can't imagine any modern performer given their all to a song.
jasonfury1 yeah its almost as if Blackmore is the wizard leading them to failure and dio and the band are the slaves. I love both duo and Blackmore but its interesting to think about. Either way, both made this song memorable. Between dios emotion, power and range to Blackmore's seeming simple riffs that's surprisingly fulfilling and deep (paradoxically). Not to mention the drums, bass (underrated imo) and keyboard. Its instantly a classic for me, unique in its own way. I dig the structure of the song, and the lyrical symbolism/literal style.
Ha Screw ZEPPELIN .. Rainbow is So much Better .. ;) ........ Yea of course I like some zep ....... bit Over rated though ...... DIO and PLANT no Comparison .. Dio Kicks ass ..
@@gremlinjr2 You are discrediting the band that started it all quite a bit... Without Zep you wouldn't have Rainbow or Deep Purple Mk.2. Zeppelin II defined hard rock.
@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 Don't post rubbish, while Sabbath is my favorite band of that era, a close second is Zeppelin , Purple did Child in Time almost two years before Zeppelin did Stairway...so to say you would have those other bands if not for Zeppelin is crazy.
@@gypana Its not crazy you dumbass... Have you heard early Zeppelin? I'm talking late 60s Zeppelin. 1969's Zeppelin II defined hard rock... It caused Deep Purple to completely change their sound in 1970 to a crazy hard rock band with songs such as bloodsucker which almost sounded like thrash metal. Sabbath in the same year released similar songs which were influenced by Zeppelin 1 and 2. You got the hard rock with harmonica, heavy bass... This is some of the most basic hard rock knowledge, Led Zeppelin may not be the best but they were the band that completely changed the hard rock sound, which lead to Deep Purple Mk.2 and Sabbath.
I say it is THE defining song of Heavy Metal. Yes, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest had done some stuff before that, but they hadn't put it together in a package like this.

LYRICS High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water Nine years worth of breakin' my back There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard See how he glides, why he's lighter than air Oh I see his face! Where is your star? Is it far, is it far, is it far? When do we leave? I believe, yes, I believe In the heat and the rain With whips and chains To see him fly So many die We build a tower of stone With our flesh and bone Just to see him fly But don't know why Now where do we go? Hot wind, moving fast across the desert We feel that our time has arrived The world spins, while we put his dream together A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky Oh I see his face! Where is your star? Is it far, is it far, is it far? When do we leave? Hey, I believe, I believe In the heat and the rain With whips and chains Just to see him fly Too many die We build a tower of stone With our flesh and bone To see him fly But we don't know why Ooh, now where do we go INSTRUMENTAL All eyes see the figure of the wizard As he climbs to the top of the world No sound, as he falls instead of rising Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand Oh I see his face! Where was your star? Was it far, was it far When did we leave? We believed, we believed, we believed In heat and rain With the whips and chains To see him fly So many died We built a tower of stone With our flesh and bone To see him fly But why In all the rain With all the chains Did so many die Just to see him fly Look at my flesh and bone Now, look, look, look, look, Look at his tower of stone I see a rainbow rising Look there, on the horizon And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home Time is standing still He gave back my will Ooh ooh ooh ooh Going home I'm going home My eyes are bleeding And my heart is leaving here But it's not home But it's not home Ooh Take me back He gave me back my will Ooh ooh ooh ooh Going home I'm going home My eyes are bleeding And my heart is leaving here But it's not home But it's not home Ooh Take me back, take me back Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh

I listen to Ritchie Blackmore’s masterpieces and understand that he did the right thing by leaving Deep Purple. Blackmore is a super talented composer and guitarist, he was cramped in the DP. Maestro. Without Blackmore, Gillan would not have happened, just like Dio
Ронни Джеймс Дио!!! 👍
полностью согласен , и еще многим музыкантам Ричи дал путевку в жизнь .

I think the most remarkable thing here is Dio.

One of the best hard rock songs ever recorded...an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Kudos to Ritchie, Cozy and Ronnie (RIP for the last two) for this recording!
Ronnie and Ritchie was a lethal combination.
and cozy powell
Listened to rainbow when was 14 loved it but had no clue who it was but yes Dio and Blackmore were lethal..RIP Ronnie James Dio...
They were!! But Dio was a nice man and Ritchie not really. So ofcourse Dio didn't want to work with that man anymore.

Not very Rock 'N Roll. Such a waste of life.
My favourite track with him drumming is Long Live Rock And Roll. Pure power.
Absolutely
You don't listen to this. You experience it. Bloody hell!
Agreed.
Ronnie has a beast of a song behind him, but holy hell his singing alone just grabs you and doens't let go. Ever. You feel every fucking word to the bones.
I've had this thing on repeat for 3 days straight. 3 fucking days. And still can't stop.
Everything comes together in this. Absolutely searing vocals, lead, bass, drums, keyboards (esp towards the end). Sheer perfection. Hard to top this.
GREAT WORDS BROTHER OF TRUE ROCK🙏✌🎸🤘
@@GaudyGabriev No disrespect intended, but I've had this song on repeat for three fucking decades!!!
Ritchie Blackmore is a musical genius! Without him there would be no full-fledged rock. He is the highest standard of rock music

Dio sounds on the verge of collapse by then end of this recording I can't imagine any modern performer given their all to a song.
jasonfury1 Amen,he poured all his soul in it
jasonfury1 yeah its almost as if Blackmore is the wizard leading them to failure and dio and the band are the slaves. I dig the structure of the song, and the lyrical symbolism/literal style.
you are bang on
One of the most powerful song ever created on this planet.
well spoken
Ha Screw ZEPPELIN .. Rainbow is So much Better .. ;) ........
Yea of course I like some zep ....... bit Over rated though ...... DIO and PLANT no Comparison .. Dio Kicks ass ..

You are discrediting the band that started it all quite a bit...
He was the best singer I ever seen live , and by a wide margin absolutely amazing!!!
Great band, one the best rock songs ever. Saw Rainbow perform in Newcastle, Australia in November 1976
I’m sixty this year and this sends shivers down my spine still like it did when I was 16

LYRICS
High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water
Nine years worth of breakin' my back
There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard
See how he glides, why he's lighter than air
Oh I see his face!
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
I believe, yes, I believe
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
To see him fly
So many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
Just to see him fly
But don't know why
Now where do we go?
Hot wind, moving fast across the desert
We feel that our time has arrived
The world spins, while we put his dream together
A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky
Oh I see his face!
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
Hey, I believe, I believe
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go
INSTRUMENTAL
All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world
No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand
Oh I see his face!
Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed
In heat and rain
With the whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We built a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But why
In all the rain
With all the chains
Did so many die
Just to see him fly
Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look,
Look at his tower of stone
I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon
And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home
Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back
He gave me back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh
Brilliant shear brilliance

The performance of each is combined with the performance of others both individually and as a whole.
