I went to a Titleist fitting centre last week to test the T300 and I know it was indoors, on a track man, no wind etc but the 7 iron was carrying 170yds and running out to 182 yards. The 5 iron was running out to 208 yards. Unbelievable launch angle too. Ordered them yesterday !!
I went and hit these when I got fitted for my T100s and I was very surprised how much I enjoyed them. Titleist did a great job at making these irons not look offensive at address. Very very easy to hit. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for an easier distance iron to hit and control
How about for someone who has played for a couple of years and shoots 95-110? I have the 690 forge CB which I got when I had no clue what I was looking for. Didn't know they were "players clubs". I wonder if they are holding me back or if I should ride them out.

Love my T 300 irons .... best preforming game improvement iron I ever hit ... ball flight and decent angles and spin are what I have been looking for in this category of irons ... Titleist has done a great job with the T series of irons 👍
Mark, the club I found, and ultimately purchased, that spins where it should for being strong lofted, is the Mizuno Hot Metal Pro. I tried Srixons 585&785, Callaway CF-19s &CF-19 Pros and everytime time the Mizuno Hot Metal Pro was better. And like you, I have found my 'cross over club' to be somewhere between the strong lofted 6 iron loft of 26 degrees and the strong lofted Mizuno Hot Metal Pro 23 degree 5 iron which I increased the loft to 24 degrees to give me that better 31-32 meter peak height and better spin than the as delivered 23 degree loft 26-28 meter peak height. I weakened my 6 iron to 28 degrees and moved the 5 iron to 24 degrees (197-205 carry).
I tried some game improvements irons a few years ago. I did end up with Mizuno MP5 irons. I was a 7.8 handicap at the time. That iron reminds me of the G ping iron I tried. 7 iron went 175 carry at 5000 rpm spin which is a 5 iron for me. Yeah, it's cool playing with your friends and saying I think I will hit a 9 iron at 150 yds. But we all know that 9 iron is 35° which is what my 7 iron is in my Mizuno club. It's a lot prettier than the Ping and sounds is more.
Great point about changing swings with lower lofted clubs. My swing gets very strange with a 5 iron, although, my Hot Metal Pro 5 iron isn’t bad. Still, Mark has me thinking about switching it out for a 25’ hybrid.
I have a 5-PW set that I will be trying on Saturday on the course. I have not looked at my numbers yet on these. But that is mostly because I have no where the trackman knowledge you two guys have. I love listening to your discussions. Way over my head.
So my trial went good, not great. I did hit some great shots but these have senior shafts. I think given my misses were all right I may need to stay in Reg shafts. But love the clubs. Mishits flew good.
Brilliant content fellas! It makes me think about gapping and spin rates at BOTH ends of the set. What is the longest iron I am comfortable with and what flights do I want to see. All valid questions. Thanks!
Will Titleist ever offer the option to have the lofts stamped on the bottom of the club instead of the arbitrary club number??? I'm having to constantly explain to people why I also carry two 6 irons!
Yes and the more standard Launcher CBX irons which I am still gaming... I love those irons. Normally use the 6 iron as my longest iron (26 degrees) then I transition to my version of the rinky dinks (Cleveland Launcher HB 4 hybrid at 22 degrees) I do carry the 5 iron (23 degrees) but rarely hit it.... Normally of the tee on a tight par 4. Playing some of best golf in years.
I was playing DCI 762s before I bought this 2 weeks ago. So the T300 4 iron has 3 iron loft (and shorter club length), ok fine. However, shaft is lighter than the DCI 3 Iron, I don't have to muscle a DG s300 shaft to get the same distance and launch on the T300 4iron. These TT AMT Red Steel in stiff flex are quite nice. As far as the sound, T300 4iron sounds "clicky" loud versus DCI (but who cares about that if I can get it up in the air easy). Good stuff though.
Just love listening to you boys talk about tech in clubs and swings. You have to get that loft v spin question answered Mark. Surely you know someone at Titleist who is prepared to tell you their secret. Could it have anything to do with the shaft. Not a shaftoid.
LOL!!! Love the Star Trek intro. Now I can’t unsee it when I see the club! Too bad they don’t sound LaForgey... but you can’t hit the Spock all the time...
Intrigued to try the new irons (more so the T200's) since you are saying the spin numbers are more reasonable than other company offerings. Recently tried Mizuno Hot Metal Pros comparing them to 919 Tours. Quickly saw that I would have so few clubs to gap my shorter distances (180 or less) when the carry on a 7 iron was 186yds with 5,400 ish rpm (around 15 yards more then 919 tours). The compromise of control for distance really becomes a double edge sword.
I found the Mizuno JPX Hot Metal Pro’s to be high spinning. Can’t remember the exact numbers, but I spun the HM Pro 4i around 4400 rpm with Prov’s. My regular 4i (MP53) spins right about the same.
I think you were trying to reference the taylormade R7 irons which I played for 6-7year before switching to Mizuno 850 forged. The latter is a much better iron.
Mark, I've watched a couple of tests recently where power bats (Epic and TM P790) gave distance and high (ish) spin. Perhaps the manufacturers have all discovered something? I just wish they put the correct number on the bottom of the club.
Mark, awesome video, love the blending idea. Curious about iron length when you have two "6" irons as you do. I get the loft and distance works but am curious if both clubs are the same length or is the T300 "6" five iron length?
I also thought that it reminded me of something Taylormade (company motto: We STILL hate Mark) would have released. Interesting that the spin rate is kind of consistant, something you've been concerned about with this "bracket" of club, with possible inconsistencies when it comes to north/south dispersion. Not only are you getting consistent numbers, but spin higher than you'd expect.
Explain how an identical head with DG R300 can flight lower than Rifle 6.5's which are world apart in terms of stiffness, yet their kick points are completely different
Best iron I’ve hit this year forgiving, very long and nice quality and feels and sound good. For me better than the T400 and a nicer price, and for me just ahead of the Sim max and Radspeed.
I bought the t400’s. They are huge, ridiculous jacked up lofts (The 7 iron is 26*!) and hollow. I keep trying to remember that my W43 club is actually my PW! And my marked ‘PW’ is actually a true 9 iron! And so on throughout the set! Insane. Replacing them with the T300’s.
As your average bear! No really I am an average overweight slower swinging 🐻 bear I still see the sense in what you are saying and I wish my bats had more spin as they struggled to hold when things firm up. I must learn to bounce on area in front of green I thought, but no telling which way it launched then !
It occurs to me that the ‚knobs‘ in both models T300 and T200 visually are not aligned to the centre of the club face. Any reason why that is or is it just visually misleading? In any case it confuses me and therefore these irons are out of the equations.
I am curious if there is a big yardage gap between 7 iron and 8 iron since the 8 iron does not have the cavity alien aircraft looking thingy. I am thinking about purchasing these but also don't want a huge gap between 7 and 8 iron. I was hitting the 7 at a fitting with this model 175 yards where my current 8 is only about 150.
It'll all be down to sales. Not many, if any pros will be gaming the T300's, so if they don't outsell the AP 1's ( ooops I said it ), then I think we will see the visual aid disappear on the next version out.......just my opinion
I would welcome an explanation of why bladed irons provide more spin than 'game improvement' irons for the SAME loft, if indeed they do. Mark - can Titleist answer this
@Adam Cunnyngham Hi Adam - never seen Mark actually demonstrate lower spin except when he was trying to hit some GI irons higher on the face to demonstrate flyers. Also, TXG posted some videos showing no difference. Did wonder if there was something about more flexure on the face of GI irons impacting the contact time - thought Titleist would have a definitive explanation
There is no difference in spin if the loft is the same. One thing that can sometimes cause lower spin is club head speed. For example say the blade 6 iron and a game improvement 7 iron have the exact same loft, the 6 iron will have half an inch longer shaft length so you'll swing it 2-3 mph faster (for most players) than the shorter length 7 iron, so that loss in clubhead speed will cause slightly lower spin.
So if i were to get custom fit would the fitter mix different models to better my handicap? I was fitted by ping and wasn't given the option to blend sets although I would prefer having better player irons in the higher loft clubs now that I am seeing Improvements in my game. Currently using g irons and glide wedges. 👍🏻
Silly question, can you punch shot these kinds of hi-tech stronger lofted clubs? I'm guessing it will punch to some extent, but does the tech designed to put it into the air cause problems with punch shots / stingers?
I'm sure they feel great like Titleist irons should but ever since I saw the original release pictures of these I've thought they are absolutely hideous
Not even close. Hideous is the new TM P790 Ti and even that was prettier than the old TM MCGB. The T300s are by comparison merely slightly unattractive
@@paulmcgee1867 First time realizing this. My set is coming in a couple weeks. I'm really torn between the T200 and the T300. I loved the feel of the 7 iron I hit with the T200 and the thinner top line with the very small offset. It was easier to aim. I only hope it is much different to my JPX 919 Hot Metal irons which I find has too much offset for me to be able to aim well. I also seem to be hitting the Titleist 7 irons longer than my Mizuno. I use graphite shaft - around 60 gms. I hit the ball high naturally so lowering spin numbers would be good.
Love that average spin for you two muppets differs by 8 revs. 8!!! This is a great video... strike and strike-r make the most difference but tech does matter! Just not in the same way for every golfer... cheers y’all 👍
Doubt it. I've played golf for 25 years through college and play with pros all the time and can count on 1 hand the number of players that hit it too high and spin it too much. And a few degrees of loft change won't help them. Their best bet to lower spin is to change golf ball they play. Not many amateurs hit it "too high".
I like your stuff, but you tested G400 irons (7 iron) and it was spinning the 6 iron number and Dan was spinning it 7k revs. So it's exactly the same thing here. You could use G400 7 iron as a 6 iron replacement so I don't see how this is any different +/- a few hundred rpms which are strike dependent anyway. th-cam.com/video/Z5GHtDZ25JY/w-d-xo.html @ 2:20 mins in

Was the tm club the burner 2.0?
I tried to count how many times you said "this is really a 5 iron not a 6" but I gave up.
