The answer is probably not. 1st ring he got Harrison Barnes, Andre Igudala, Sean Livingston. You dont beat Cavs without those three. Nest 2 rings he got KD, nuff said on that. Last ring he got Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton jr and Jordan Poole. Probably do not win there either. So yes he deserves a ton of credit. Lots of great players but not lots of great teams
It’s all part of the dynasty. There’s a lot of people who are helping, and Bob’s relationship with the players made it so that others wanted to come to Golden State. Yes, there were a few transactions that were incredible and some ones that weren’t but it was because how they treat players and how they listen and care that made this organization a dynasty
Mad dog is only repeating himself without listening to other valid arguments. Myers made some good trades for sure to keep a distinct culture intact and adding some very valuable additions. Enough examples of GM messing things up.

For the first time, I actually agree with Doggie. Myers' draft picks are failing plus he benefited from the previous front office Picks. What has he really done?
Bob Myers drafted Looney, executed a sign and trade to acquire DLO for KD and then moved DLO for Wiggins and what ended up being Kuminga. He also found guys like Otto Porter and GP2 as JJ mentioned. I wouldn’t call him the goat gm but he’s certainly one of the better general managers in the league

His picks are not failing as much as his picks are not being given the opportunity to develop. Curry didn't sit on the bench with a short leash as a young player because he was on a win now roster. Ditto for Klay and Green. I said this last off-season with Poole. They made a mistake Kerr and Bob with the guy they gave the long leash too. They fell too in love with their system and failed to see that their system needed some changes. Wiseman and Kuminga should have been the guys who they allowed to play through mistakes the past two seasons, not Poole. Wiseman and Kuminga actually plugged holes. Poole just gave them more of what they already had. Pop and the Spurs for 20 years tweaked and built rosters around core guys with ascending and descending skill sets. When Kawhi started to look like a guy, they told him to go win us games and tweaked their system around what he did well. They didn't try to find the next Tim Duncan. We saw Wiseman go to Detroit and look like a legit NBA starter. He needs room to be able to mess up and play through it. If Kuminga was shipped to Orlando or Charlotte he's a 18/7+ guy. This is the Carmelo Anthony situation. What happens if Detroit drafts Melo? He sits on the bench behind Prince and we call him a bust.

This goes back to when Jerry Krause was the GM for the Bulls and was looking to get the credit and acclimation in putting that roster together in the 90s.

Well, he does. He drafted Horace Grant, traded his pick for Scottie Pippen, then traded for Bill Cartwright, then drafted BJ Armstrong & Toni Kukoc. When MJ retired, he brought in Ron Harper and traded for Luc Longley and Dennis Rodman. He won Exec of the Year twice. He should get a lot of credit for the rosters he was able to build.

Jackson was holding them back and west was the main reason behind the dynasty being built
Jerry West built it, Mark Jackson taught them the system, Kerr and Bob inherited a fortune, an already established system and lastly, Dray and Steph got KD signed with the Warriors, not Bob Myers.
Then why was Kerr able to get the warriors to the finals, and Jackson wasn't? Kerr implemented a different system when he took over, more catered to offense, as opposed to Jackson who was moreso defensive.

People forget Jerry West was instrumental putting the team together. Part of the reason they didn't trade Klay for Love is because West threatened to quit of they made that move. AND West is why they hired Thompson and many role players. West deserves a ton of credit.

JJ tried to make the argument as well and it shows the lazy way of thinking. A sort of well the dynasty happened so everyone associated is the great. In all fairness, the Wiseman trade was necessary but yeah considering where he was drafted it feels like a waste. But honestly I think Wiseman was gonna go anyway. Regardless, They should not have given Poole the bag. They should’ve focused on developing Kuminga and Moody cuz they actually fill voids when they play with the starting core, making Wiggins more of a #2 option instead of a #4 option, and then maybe go get a rim protector with that money they gave Poole. Poole is reckless and sure he can go drop 40 every now and then but so can a guy like Cam Thomas…he doesn’t help them do anything. So I agree with Mad Dogg on this one as well.

@@Jarel_317 true….however Wiseman’s biggest issue is not his offense; it’s his defense. He’s often late defensively, mistimes contests, gets lost in defensive rotations. Having him against the Lakers wouldn’t have made a single difference outside of more free throws for the Lakers cuz of fouls. His rebounding is even subpar for being as big as he is; I consider Looney a better rebounder despite being 5-6” shorter.

Everyone keeps saying it's Dunleavy, not really the sons. The sons go from third in the tier to co-seconds in command with Dunleavy as number one, as GM. This leads to however long Dunleavy is under contract until he leaves and the sons take over definitively.
Lacob doesn't seem to be the kind of person that skips steps of the process. I hope he believes in the process and in how important it is for his sons to grow step by step until they can reach the top. I don't think Lacob is going to act like the Buss family, giving roles of power to his sons without them been groomed in the previous roles.
Maintaining an organisation that is in the successful lane is extremely hard in any sector. We all know a lot of heirs who messed up successful family business organisations. Consistency is not measured by what happened yesterday, it's the wins going forward. Bob Myers did an excellent job & he deserves the inclusion on the list of people who contributed to the success & dynasty of GSW

What is being overlooked is, Bob Myers is responsible for putting together the Warriors' bench players each year. As Shaq said, "It's the others that wins championships". Myers has made the art of finding gems cheap look so incredibly easy that it is consistently overlooked.
Bob Myers deserves credit for being the GM. Drafted Draymond Green, hired Steve Kerr, had a 73-9 team, signed KD, and won 4 NBA titles. He deserves his flowers.

To be fair yes, Bob deserves credit but as a GM if money is not an issue bc your owner is electing to spend the most money in order to win than yes your job is that much easier. He’s made great turn around trades like Wiggins but we can’t refute the fact that Lacob was willing to spend any amount to win.
Obviously the best example is Krause I’m Chicago, he didn’t draft MJ but made great moves after the fact. Still a hall of famer but didn’t draft the key cog.

I may be wrong, but I’m sure Myers had a big role choosing to roll with Steph over Monta Ellis. Like others have said, Jerry West stood Myers to keep Klay, but like even other comments have said Myers showed humility and pose in trusting his gut to listen to West. Like JJ said, it’s sometimes about the transactions that don’t happen. Yeah Myers didn’t draft the Splash Bros, but he made two conscious choices to keep them and it paid off. And we’ll see if the guys he drafted pay off. I happen to think that Kuminga and Moody can really help if given an opportunity to play serious minutes and really develop. Myers isn’t the best GM ever, but he definitely deserves a hall of fame nod.

With how complex the NBA is and NBA personalities and contracts are, takes like Doggy’s is the issue. You can’t just try to funnel everything into 1 facet (draft picks). There’s a lot more involved and for those things, that’s why Bob Myers deserves his flowers
