I had this done today for another reason and it’s honestly not bad at all, please don’t worry and keep putting it off. your health is way too important to worry about being embarrassed, remember they have seen it all before x
I chose not to be sedated and didn’t feel any pain it was just uncomfortable that’s all.
It’s been about 3 hours since I had it done and I feel fine.
Praying for anyone that is worried and reading this I pray that the lord gives you peace and also that everything comes back clear.
    God bless x

I've (male, now 74) have had several embarrassing procedures done on the NHS over the past few years, including one colonoscopy and two urethral endoscopies of the prostate. One thing I've learned is, *the medical staff have seen it all before*. That kinda reduces the embarrassment. I now have to visit the hospital again and hopefully it will be a sigmoidoscopy, not a colonoscopy. Not that even the colonoscopy was painful, just uncomfortable. But the sigmoidoscopy doesn't go as far into the bowel, so thar's got to be better.
I hope the outcome of your procedure detailed in this video was good, and best of luck!

I have had this done 3 times (last time today,) and usually get Movicol to drink before it which usually works well. Never had an enema. I also didn't take any sedation or gas and air during the 'exam' and it wasn't too uncomfortable. Over in about 5 minutes. It isn't in any way painful, just a feeling of pressure and lot's of 'wind' afterward. You also don't feel groggy in any way. Then again I don't have Crohn's, so perhaps that's the difference. I was also able to watch the procedure on the monitor. I know, I'm weird.

I was on azathioprine and I took myself off it when I was 16/17. Best thing I ever did tbh, the side effects was just a no!! But I started Humira and literally have no bad side effects apart from feeling sick 😩. Only been on it since January after a year I guess they want to see if it’s helped. All the best with your Crohns, I know the pain literally. Had it since I was 15 at school now I’m 22 😩

I had a sigmoid scope on Monday, they let me do my own enema, they tell me to hold it in for like 5 minutes, but I'm lucky to get one minute, i could opt for sedation but I don't find a sigmoid that invasive and I hate being sedated and it's nice to be able to see and talk with the doctor right after. My scope said my Crohn's is looking better than last time. So yay, but also I'm having problems with the rest of me.

I have had so many scope tests I have lost track. I have had my last one . I will never go through that again. I have Crohn's , but I don't care. No more scopes for me. I stress out so much before one of these it does me more harm than good, so that is why I have decided no more.

Hahahahaha I love this video so much! I really appreciate all the stuff you put out it’s helped me feel a lot more normal. You help me to laugh at all the things that I’d normally be embarrassed about with my Crohn’s. I hope they don’t find anything too nasty and I hope you don’t have to go back on some awful medications. I’ve just started my humira injections this morning and while it was a pretty awful experience I’m happy to hopefully move onto the next stage of my life where I feel well and get my life back on track. Good luck in everything and I’m looking forward to another video or an update from you.

I've just been diagnosed with Crohns. I've been on prednisone for a few weeks, I have about a week left of my course before I start aziothiaprine. However the prednisone has made no noticeable differences at all, I have no side effects, and it doesn't seem to have calmed anything down inside either. My doctor just shrugged it off and told me to wait until I next see a specialist which is a while away. I started off on 30mg of pred. Anyone else have any experience like this?
And of course I wanted to say thank you for sharing this video with us, I watched your videos as soon as I was told my diagnosis and it was so relieving to find humour in this situation! Keep making videos, you are truly a light in the dark!! Blue mnms are also my fave so good choice :P

I was diagnosed at 9 after losing over 20 pounds and not growing for a year, they started me on massive amounts (120mg) of prednisone that helped the first time. now it usually just makes me hungry and fat, but doesn't help. but that was like 27 years ago.Good luck on your Crohn's odyssey

Sigmoid's are great since it's just an enema right before, no prep the day before (at least when I've gotten them). you can even opped out of being sedated if you want, but of course a Colonoscopy goes further in.

I don't think I have experienced any side effects from it yet.. my GI did blood a while back and was great but wanted stool sample I told her basically to shove it because I felt fine.. starting to think maybe I should just do it because who knows what's going on in there.

Hi. I have indeterminate IBD but pointing to crohns. Steroids cleared mine up months ago and i've kept imflamation at bay for months for now. However i dropped to 9.5 stone and now on weight gain stuff. Yiur looking quite thin but probs due to the veggie diet, which just wouldnt give me enough protein to keep well as due to weight loss i ended up with pnuemonia. All better now tho. Just for nosies, why did u come off aza? They tried to get me on it but i told them to ram it due to side effects. Is that why you came off it? Still looking good btw so hopefully your results will be ok. Fingers crossed 😉
