I'm a 25 minute parkrunner. Mizuno had a "try it" day at one of our runs. I thought the shoe was fantastic, even at paces of 5 to 6 minutes per km. The shoe is great for slower runners. Don't be put off by the thought of it only suiting 2:30 marathoners.

would love to try this shoe. to me the shape makes sense. Why so much padding on the heel of most shoes when a lot of runners don't even land there.

70-90% of runners heel strike, including elites.

Even better. I am a heel striker and slow runner but the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro is amazing for me. No heel.. No problem..

@@QronoZ713 Yes. Look at the video of the Elite at the end of the Marathon. Mostly heel strike.. and so is 80 percent of the rest even at the start. The only time I don't heel strike is if I run barefoot.

I run 1:50min half marathons (nowhere near elite) and this shoe feels perfect for me. It protects the legs and gives incredible energy feedback. The only thing it's bad for is walking ;)

I know this is contrary.. I am a heel striker and slow runner.. (senior..) but I just love the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Like you I have it in the Black/White.. I run at around 6 min per km long 20k runs in them and they are the most comfortable and protective shoe I have. Legs fresh the next day. The bounce and rocker are very energy saving.. I was afraid it will be a disaster like my Alphafly V1 because of the heel striker but there is NO heel so no problem. I land midfoot 🤔. I saw the developer of the line and he said that the new Wave Rebellion Flash has the geometry of the Wave Rebellion Pro V1.. So I guess I will try that one once it's out..

I know you have a great knowledge about shoes 🙂. And no one knows better than you. what works for you 👍 Personally, I also think version 1 can be used in the way you use it. I just think it's important that when judging a shoe that you are honest about how fast you can run. Because it's just not fair if you judge a shoe based on the wrong assumptions. And most of us are not able to utilize these carbon shoes properly. therefore I think this video is excellent 👍💪. Ben is able to utilize the full potential of the shoe. Which ultimately gives the most accurate review of them

Get the new WRP2. I tried both WRP1 and WRP2 on foot on different Mizuno events in Austin in 2023. WRP2 demoed in December 2023 during The Running Event in Austin, TX. The WR Flash 2 is nowhere near bouncy. I tried it on foot, but I only run in WRP1 and WRP2. WRP2 felt great as a mid-packer shoe. Forget about Mizuno marketing that is trying to position this shoe as an elitist shoe. It is far more democratic shoe. The only downside is that you will need even stronger calves as drop is less than v1.

I only started my running in version 1 (I ordered V2 as well) and despite being a heavy runner who is nowhere near 2:30 marathon pace, I find these shoes amazing. They seem to allow me to run more effortless than any other super (or not super) shoe out there, and I had few PBs in them, without trying.
I am definitely curious to see what I can do in them in marathon.

I’m a mass runner and I really like running in those shoes. I did 3 runs around 6km in slow pace (around 6’/km) and I really loved the ride. I’m an heavy runner compared to you but I found those shoes extraordinary. I will push the pace with for sure for speedy intervals. I preferred them to the Prime X Strung of Adidas (which were my favorites for recovery runs) even at slow paces cause it in line with my stride.

I ran in demo shoes during a Mizuno event in Austin, TX in December 2023. I am not an elite runner. I consider myself mid-pack runner in my age group. That said, I don't agree with the Mizuno marketing. This shoe (Wave Rebellion Pro 2) is quite democratic, and I felt I was getting quite efficient ride vs many of other carbon plated shoes. Personally, I got Alphafly 1 style bounce and efficiency. So, discard the marketing and get this shoe (WRP2).
One thing that is not discussed: The heel counter is gone from v1 to v2. There was a bit of heel slip for me which could be fixed by runners' loop lacing. Also I got tight calves after running in these shoes. The drop is even less in this shoe vs v1. So, just like zero drop shoes the calf muscles are working hard so this shoe will require strong calves for longer mile usage.

Super good video 👍💪😀. Really nice to have a TH-camr who is not a turtle like many of us 🫣 And who are able to test the shoes for which they are built. And let's be honest, almost all carbon shoes are built to run fast. And not to run a marathon of 3 - 4 hours. Put another way, the dream of all supershoes is to get under two hours. And without me being anywhere near your level. So my experience is that the shoes change quite a bit depending on the speed. The faster you are able to run, the more you get out of a pair of carbon shoes.
