2 Things • 26:37 - Shout out to the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack • The next different gimmick you can have her attempt other than just progressing nuzlocking generations is a Pokemon Infinite Fusion run
I know this isn't a well known homebrew rule since it's still fairly new, but a lot of soul links recently have started using a rule that any Normal/Flying type Pokémon (like Swablu and Swellow) would count as Flying encounters since, before gen 5 and that's only including Tornadus, there are 0 primary flying type Pokémon. Just a thought to consider if you ever do another Soul Link. It may make some of those encounters a little more desirable.
23:38 When you randomize the TM’s theres a slidder that determines the power of moves that the TMs are more likely to be. i always set it to around 70-80% that way you still get the occasional garbage TM but also have the chance to get Flamethrower type attacks as well
Oof, those remaining teams to face Blue. While they point out one team is weak to fire, the other team carries a common weakness in ground. It's amazing they walked out with only one Pokemon targeting a full team's weakness.
@@thomash341This and specifically physical defense. And Poison is physical is Gen III...honestly an oversight of Nick's imo. Happens to the best of us.
And this is why if I'm doing a "randomized soullink", I'm not using the 1 typing per team. As long as you caught it, it's viable. Just still has to be linked to the other pokemon.😂
Yeah that rule is super annoying when playing, I think the only similar rule I would personally use is that the pair of Pokémon cannot match their primary typing.
For future reference there’s a way to randomize pokemon and keep at a relatively similar power level to the ones you would normally encounter and you can also set it so that trade evolutions evolve at a set level. Although not doing that does lead to great content moments!
Honestly falling in love with this channel, the two of you are delightful and the way it really feels like a shared experience - even the Pokémon master Nic is having fun. The editing as well continues to excel; keep it up both of ya!
Thing is, it could have been 100x worse. If it was Notgirl's ace, it would have been level 63...meaning it actually would have been at the *exact* level for Fire Blast. The Gen III learnset saved them but luck was very much giving Nick a break for the losses he accrued by no fault of his own in the Elite Four.
Oof, that "Primary-type" rule was always my least favorite of some of the more common optional rules to nuzlockes. I tried t for my first one, because I guess the friend who suggested it saw a video that made him think it was a core rule and I couldn't convince him otherwise at the time. We ended up dropping the rule about 3/4s of the way into our SwSh run because we found it just wasn't very fun for us. Was just kinda limiting teambuilding in a way that was more of a pain than it was challenging or enjoyable
What a twist! Though I do think I prefer the regular Nuzlockes and Tarn’s reactions to the games. Will you do Gen 4 like Platinum and beyond? Keep it up!
I am fairly sure that for the enemy pokemon they have the last 4 moves that they were able to learn so that lucky encounter was because the last 4 moves before was not the type that it needed (I am talking about the point around 43:34) So it does learn moves of that before the level but it was not the last 4.
The video I’ve been waiting for! I didn’t expect it this soon after Emerald but definitely not complaining! Incredible job you two, the editing was superb!!
Best editing of Soul Link I've ever seen. It can be hard to tell who is doing what when showing two runs together, but you guys aced it. Looking forward to the next one :)
After all these years, it's amazing how a Nuzlocke-video can make my heart beat as if I was playing it myself, and this was one of the best I've seen. You guys are amazing!
i know i shouldn't really overthink, but the fact this is all about being linked/having couple pokemon's is making me trying to see how well those pairs would fair in a date. the image of shamrock and palmer in a dinner is both funny and cute to me
Whoever made the Ho-oh move pool for Firered and Leafgreen is actually a public menace, we need J. Jonah Jameson to investigate them for this transgression. I've never noticed before that in Firered, you have to spend more coins to buy the Porygon at the Game Corner than the Leafgreen counterpart, that's really bizarre honestly like why is it different for each game? Shears and Guildford are the powers of gambling made manifest!
Holy moly, the editing in this one was absolutely wild. Super proud of y'all for winning as well, _especially_ given your horrendous luck streak leading to the Champion
Was literally rewatching the other Pokémon videos on your channel last night. So happy to watch you guys play a soul link. Keep up the great content! 😊
Yall the editing on these is always so spectacular with showing each of your views and syncing it up together. Just a compliment i wanted yall to receive!. Also watching you guys is like a lil ritual my girl and i watch every new post. We appreciate you guysl!
The wedded pokemons rule is actually really cute and fits the channel so well. But hearing they had to be different gender i couldn't help but think "love doesn't win in pokemon😄"
Some people do flying pokemon could also have etheir of theme be their primary type. If they are more like a fly than the other type. This is due to only 9 primary flying types, currently 1 being a 2 stage evolution and a 3 stage evo line. The rest are one stage. until Gen 5 there was none.
The editing has definitely leveled up in quality! I'm actually replaying LG so it was so great to come across this video. Also, Tarny, my wife says you laugh like a seagull and it cracks her up 😂😂😂
38:13 The moment she hesitated on the Psybeam, I was like "Don't understimate Swalot, and don't overestimate Kadabra's paper defenses" I understand the Psychic pp situation, but does that mean they didn't have any Elixirs, Ether or PP up for the whole game ? Or did she just forgot xD ? Otherwise, well done ! Soul links are very hard especially with the type rule, and even more when facing an ancient power boosted Groudon early on.
After you guys watch the entire series, you guys should read a glitch in time. It follows what happens after the series ends, and it is a must-read for any Danny Phantom fan . Also, there is a Danny Phantom game, but it was for the Gba biased on the Ultimate Enemy Ep!
"You should've just used Psychic" my brother in Christ you told her to use Psybeam 😭 This channel is such a good time though. My bf and I have been watching a daily video in this series so we have something to look forward to every day :)
Classic soul link experience. One person gets all the broken shit, and the other gets the garbage. Even funnier with the randomizer where some random schmo will eviscerate you while the champion has a Magikarp
Nic loved Tarn more than I loved my ex, because something similar happened and I got so angry that I didn't speak to her for a day. I'm so glad you two found each other. The love he has for her would probably outlast anything.
3:44 I know people who just say that the flying type of the first route birds count as the primary type since the first Pokémon added with flying as a primary type was in Gen 6 and with a monotype flying in Gen 5 (or Gen 4 if you count Arceus).
Loved vid and was laughin. Do have one suggestion with soul-links if wish to use that others have done. Since there are so few mons with primary flying type and there are so many mons for ones that are normal/flying, you could treat them as flying/normal. As there are like 3 mons entire 900+ with the primary (and pure) flying typing. Was just suggestion so maybe have a slightly easier time making teams, but like i said it is a slight rule bend if so choose to use in future. Like swablu goes from normal/flying to dragon/flying.
That was AMAZING! SUSPENSEFUL! That definitely was a very bonding experience that you both survived through. I cannot imagine my wife and I going through that.
About your first route encounter, a rule that people do is count Normal/Flying as Flying type because there are practically no Primary type flying Pokémon and way too many normal/flying.
The girlfriend luck and the girlfriend sabotage lol. This was the ultimate challenge run for Nic.
Fr tho
Harder fight than the champion fight
Indeed
Girlfriend murdering all her boyfriend's favorites while Delibird survives to the end xD What a champ!
missed opportunity to call this "Datelock: Soul linked"
Why would that have been better? 🤔

So THIS was the secret project.

It's amazing they walked out with only one Pokemon targeting a full team's weakness.
The moment that dude said "You might be able to get away with a psybeam" my heart dropped. Swalot is a tank. Really unfortunate loss.
And kadabra has weak defenses so you need to one shot anything he’s facing off with.
