    Justin, thanks much for the fix on latency. That was driving me nuts!

    Justin your video is the one piece of information which I was missing. Spark might be the way to go! I was always wondering if you can connect Spark as an interface. I am hobbyists too and when things are not working it is very frustrating!

      Spark works well as an interface, but as I mention in the video, there is latency with Garageband on both Mac and iPad. You can align it after you record, but it can be frustrating to sync it all up. Another option with no latency is something like the Focusrite 2i2 interface and a garageband plugin like BiasFX2. That way you can record vocals too if you want. There is no latency, and you can even track two instruments at once if needed (or a line in for guitar and a mic for vocals).

    Hi great video, is the guitar recording being recorded through the spark to iPad or is it being recorded through the iPad speakers

    Great video!
    Other than the manual approach, any updates or née strategies to address the latency issue addressed in your video?
    It’s a very frustrating issue for me. So much so they you’ve gone beck to recording with my Irig - thanks in advance for your response.

      Unfortunately, no, I haven’t found a workaround other than recording via usb to a laptop rubbing Ableton live. There you can change the sample rate, and the latency greatly improves.

      I found one. Take the track you just recorded, tap it and select settings. Then, select Follow Tempo and Pitch. I believe if you set your tempo correctly, then your track will synch up to the play along track you recorded to.

    Great video thanks for posting! I know nothing about garage band. You have any ideas on quick tutorial how to record guitar parts etc on there? Thx!

    • @justinbishopmusic
      @justinbishopmusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using a laptop or iPad/iPhone etc? On laptop, if using spark, I just use the standard audio input and then turn on a limiter and compressor.

    Is the camera connector essential here? I’ve got a Spark Mini with USB-C and I have a lightning cable, so can connect the iPhone directly to the spark. It has yet to recognise it though :(

    • @justinbishopmusic
      @justinbishopmusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it an official apple cable? I just had to keep reconnecting mine to get it to work.

    • @boredfish80
      @boredfish80 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justinbishopmusic yeah it’s a standard USB-C to Lightning charging cable. I wonder if power has anything to do with it which is why the camera connector is important here?

    How does the Spark identify in Garageband? The microphone?

    • @justinbishopmusic
      @justinbishopmusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, sorry…I sold mine and bought a PodGO, and I don’t remember! But I do know it usually takes a few tries of plugging and unplugging before it recognizes it.

      If I remember correctly, it prompted me to accept the spark as an input device.

    Can you advise on whether the ipad pro with usb c connectors are compatible with the spark amp as an audio interface for recording with garageband . Having just forked out for a brand new ipad pro I fear I've made a costly mistake. Thought this info might he useful for future videos..

    • @justinbishopmusic
      @justinbishopmusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was able to go from spark to usb C on my laptop with no problem, but I don’t have an iPad Pro. From my experience with the regular iPad, it can take several tries of plugging and unplugging before the iPad recognizes the spark.

      Into the spark

    • @edmanning274
      @edmanning274 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justinbishopmusic Thing is, you really want to be using GarageBand as the audio output so that you can hear how the recording sounds (I've found that the Spark sound isn't perfectly replicated in GarageBand). I've manage to reduce latency to virtually nothing by using a direct cable (the adapters slow down the signal) and using wired headphones for monitoring. Latency is still there, but its minimal.
