      Back in the day, I used to think that bad animations were bad because they came from bad animators… But then I found out that 95% of the time, it comes down to of a lack of time, money, management, or simply that their hearts weren’t in it.

What if they were buying it for a child or a friend as a gift and needed to know more to inform their purchase? What if they were formerly a casual gamer interested in trying some of the bigger stuff? He just chased off potential customers because he was gatekeeping.

      Idk if it’s intentional. Nowhere in the episode is there any reference to the fact that the day is 9/11, meaning the joke requires independent knowledge of Lego Star Wars II’s release date. None of the other jokes in the series are that subtle or genuinely funny so I find it hard to believe they got such a banger in on purpose. More likely a very happy accident but who knows

    • @furcornmanwiththemasterpla8380
      @furcornmanwiththemasterpla8380 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KookShanty Eh, in my experience, online webcomics really really like to root their jokes in the most obscure of references without providing any necessary context. Some combination of them not thinking about the longevity of their work in comparison to more professional cartoonists, and their pride as they turn everything into an in-joke. It would make even more sense for Tim to make a joke like that and not add the context if this episode was written or meant to be released around the same time as Lego Star Wars II, which wouldn't surprise me since he seems to be talking about the much more popular Sonic 06 in that episode, released within a month of Lego Star Wars.
      It's not particularily clever of a joke either, as someone with a dad born on september 11th, it doesn't seem that far outside of Tim experitise. Basically the same joke as "Today is 4/20, which is funny because of the drug, and absolutely nothing else."

    I feel like an issue with this video makes the final episodes sound much funnier than they actually are, like theyre just comical absurdity and not really awkward, slow, and filled with terribly executed gags.

    I dunno, I feel like you could've accepted that some people like this kind of humor. You're sorta just trashing on it while assuming there was 0 audience for this kinda stuff. The reason they initially thought they could make money off of shit like this was because they COULD, and ignoring that makes this review feel a little... I dunno, sideswipey? Like you're not actually taking context into account. People did in fact used to laugh at "the cylons look like humans now, you can't fool me!" "..uh, okay" as cliche as that is today.

      Yeah like his criticisms can be good on some parts but nmost of it is just him whining about things while also ignoring the very same problems in other things, like if he saw the destruction of video games and actually critiqued it fairly then it'd be alright, but because he likes it he sees it as the pinnacle of reviews while ctrl alt delete doing the exact same thing is somehow bad.
      Like I think both are bad but I'm not going to nitpick things to call it bad like he does.

    I used to really like CAD, and the finale where Ethan sacrificed himself to save Lilah without getting to say goodbye to her actually made me cry, but more because I'm an overly empathetic and emotionally affected person than because it was actually well-written.

    to be fair, simple ideas can sometimes really work super well, but the characters do have to be funny or enjoyable to watch. Ethan doesn't seem like the type honestly. also the jokes GOTTA land.
