So where did the name John Likeglass come from?
In the video you talk about it apparently coming from the name of a villain in a Scooby episode which you said aired in 2017 but also didn't seem to exist anywhere either.
So presumably the story of it being a Scooby villain name was just some story someone made up and put online but what's the real story?

Oh yeah, the Scooby-Doo wiki once had an edit war over which contributors were allowed to upload images to the wiki, because certain editors felt the images some other editors were uploading were too "low quality". However the people with the "high quality" stuff... weren't actually interested in uploading replacements, just deleting what they didn't like.

Usually at the deepest depths of obsession's lies mental illness. And not just in online fandoms, one way to describe madness itself is unwavering obsession. And sadly those most "dedicated" often do so to their own detriment. This isn't to say obsession is some major flaw in the human psyche, no. There is a time and a place for healthy respect and care to be taken as with all things in life. But for the obsession to become the person, that is the true folly of the matter.

At the time of me posting this it's likely abundantly obvious that I am a Mega Man fan simply from looking at my pfp. I've never exactly been an avid member of the fanbase/community, but I find myself especially distanced from them recently due to how toxically jaded so many of them have become due to the lack of new original releases in such a long time. There's so many people in the community who aren't satisfied with just hating on Capcom and everything that they release that isn't exactly what they want, they take it so far as to actively bully and shame people who aren't doing the same. They act as if they think they're based gigachads and anyone who doesn't hold their views and especially anyone who still has optimism in them is submissive and compliant with abuse. They also accuse literally anything and everything Capcom does as being a scam, and sometimes even take that to ridiculous extremes such as some individuals recently ranting about Capcom being greedy because they didn't refund 100% of all money players spent on the original X DiVE before the servers shut down.
There's still a bunch of people in the fanbase who aren't like them thankfully, most of them I've encountered being random online drifters who also aren't avidly involved in the community, but I just can't involve myself all that heavily with a community like that. Any fanbase/community that treats constant, blind hate towards the thing you're supposedly a fan of as a prerequisite for participation in the community has been poisoned and I want nothing to do with it. I see such communities as a place for people to share their mutual love for a franchise with each other, and the Mega Man community just isn't that.

Only within reason, characters are suppose to be believable people. People come and go. Insert new characters.
If we took FF7 and reused all the characters as the ones in 8, then 9, then 10, then 12, then 13, then 15, and then 16 would you be happy or would you start to feel like they are doing it to cut costs while using nostalgia to do less?
If I were to start spamming you once a year with a variation of this message. Sometimes friendly, other times insulting, would it be consistent as a person or just incredibly obnoxious?

For anybody curious, since they mentioned that the episode including John Likeglass was fake but didn't elaborate. The wiki they were on was a fan-fiction wiki for fans to share their creations. The episode is shown to be a part of is a fan-made hypothetical series based off of the idea that WB found lost scripts for the original show and began to air them. The guy wrote 100 episodes for this fake season so that's some pretty intense dedication.

Fanon wikis are basicaly the fanfiction equivalents of fandom wikis. They are wikis where fans can make fake episode and series descriptions, basically put their fanfics in a wiki format. The infobox literally says the episode was written by "Scoobylover", if nothing else, that should've tipped you off. Who ever "Scoobylover" is, they probably knew about John Likeglass, and the webpage, and named the villain so as a cheeky nod.

I think "Internet Archeology" is a really accurate description of what did here. You dug down on a particularly old and forgotten part of the internet until you figured out what the deal was. And I mean the internet is only like 40 years old, so going back to before the turn of the century really is analogous to looking back thousands of years in the case of regular archaeology.

This is such an amazing documentary and everyone deserves much praise for the astounding work put into this! I am so proud of Ashton for all that he’s accomplished in his life and I’m more than happy to support him in his new chapter of being his most authentic version of himself. I also would like to point out some things.
    1. I totally agree with Ashton and I have an idea of exactly who the “legacy” fans are in the fandom especially on Instagram and it’s heartbreaking because essentially it’s caused a few people I care about and have been so amazed with their content, to basically exit the fandom and slowly stop what their incredible contributions to the community.
    2. The legacy fans previously mentioned do feel like they basically run the fandom and if things are not done in a way they agree with, they will not invite you to collaborate or share ideas for future plans, etc. They basically gatekeep things in the community and it’s absolutely disgusting. I don’t blame anyone who decides to leave the fandom because of these people. I could literally talk for hours about this if ever needed.
    3. According to what I’ve been seeing, apparently some of these legacy fans have also been secretly been behaving so disrespectfully away from public eyes and it makes me feel like these legacy fans don’t even deserve to have a voice in the community because of how they behave and treat other members as well.
