    Hey, i have a question. I just bought a dual 10 2 ohm subwoofers with a 2 ohm amp. How do i wire this for the amp to receive 2 ohms? If i wire in series, the subwoofers will be played at 4 ohms but if i run them parallel then i would have 1 ohm going to the amp. Can i just run 2 1 ohm subs to my 2 ohm amp and itll be okay? If not, how should i go about wiring it? Sorry for the loaded question, i just really need some help.

    I have 2 1 ohm stable amps. With your same set up, would there be a way to run both amps with the 1 pre out terminal? Or should I just wire both subs, to their own amp and add a pre out to the other side of my box?

  • @thomasvalha7128
    @thomasvalha7128 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So just a question with wiring your drivers together in the box and one wire to the amp from the terminal cup.
    Well first off, I personally skip the whole terminal cup. Drill a small hole in the DIY box straight wire to the amp=less resistance.
    So you wired the subs together to create the 1ohm load to the amp. Let’s say something goes wrong (it happens sometimes with electric) how would you isolate the issue, what ever it may be, besides taking a guess and potentially having to pull both subs. Wire both subs to 2 ohm, no cup, and both subs wires meet at the amp on the same terminal, positive with positive and you have your 1 ohm.

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea there's nothing wrong with doing it that way, I guess I just don't mind pulling the subs I since I install everyday. But also depending on the amp you may not have the proper terminals to put 2 pairs of wire in the same terminal and if your using a nice gauge wire it could be an issue

    • @jptheinstallguy

      depends on what the ohm impedance is on the subs. you can wire subs anyway you want wither they came in a prefab box or not but just make sure your amp can handle the ohm load if its dual voice coil subs then they need to be dual 2ohm subs if its dual 4ohm subs then your only options is 4 ohm or 1 ohm

    What if one is dual 2 and the other sub dual 4 what can happen if you still wire them together

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ohm load at the amp soul be odd but I never tried it. It could work but they are still 2 different subs when it comes to the parameters so I don't advise

    Can you run your negative and positive wires right to terminal cup instead of using another line to run from cup to woofer

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea sure they way i use is just easier to me but that will work as well

    So if you have two 6.5 speakers, one subwoofer and a 2 channel 600watt amp that can bridge can't I just bridge the sub and connect the other 2 speakers the normal way? Or will that not work

    @JPtheinstallguy So could you wire two single voice coils together?

    • @corycmb111
      @corycmb111 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes if they are 4 ohm you wire the 2 together and that makes it 2 ohm just as long as your amp is 2 ohm stable

    Hey JP, I need some help brother. I have 4 DVC,4 ohm subs. I have a 2 ohm amp. How do I wire the subs for a 2 ohm load at the amp? Thank you in advance

      Bridge amplifier brother...

      I would get a second amp and run 2 subs each on each amp

    what happens if you dont wire them like this and wire them using just one side of the sub?

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will probably mess the voice coil up on the sub both sides need to be hooked up

    Hey bro, great upload, very informative, I needed this video. I see you have that D4sound prefab box for 10's, what's your take on them. I just brought 4 E-Series 10's V4's along with the SIA-3500 amp, I really don't want a $500 custom box, the subs are for my Big Rig, 2 of the budget boxes will work. What cha say about that box? 🤔

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am pretty happy with the performance of the box for real it bangs especially for 2 10s I bought another one for 2 6.5 inch subs and it's very efficient

    Awesome video man I really appreciate it I don't know why but I'm having an issue with three of the wires not fitting into the input on the speaker I think I'm doing something wrong also was wondering where you got the box I looked at down for sound and could not find it

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      shouldnt be 3 wires going into any sub. series each sub and parallel the rest you can literally hook it up how i have in this video these subs are dual 4 and we end up with 1 ohm at the amp

  • @DonChubz
    @DonChubz ปีที่แล้ว

    i love ya videos. what’s your input on getting a more powerful amp than the rms of your box but running the amp at a higher ohm but giving the amount of power it can handle. for example 2 dual voice coil 12s 2500 rms on a 5k amp at 2 ohms 3200 watts

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is the rms 2500 total for both 12s or 2500 each 12. So you run both subs at 2ohms and push a 5k which does 3200 rms to the subs at 2ohms? Am I understanding that correctly?

    • @DonChubz
      @DonChubz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jptheinstallguy yes that’s correct, 2500 rms together 1250 each one. and yes that’s what i’m trying to do, and find out if this a good way to go

    • @jptheinstallguy
      @jptheinstallguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @E Rich perfectly fine ill do a quick and a video soon to explain more but yes it's OK to do this be a little careful on the gain

    • @DonChubz

      @@jptheinstallguy would it play better quality than 1ohm 3k watts. for an example putting 3k to a 1000 watt sub is overpowering, it’ll play but that don’t it’s giving good quality bass. i’m trying to figure out what’s the best way to wire and will choosing a higher power amp with breathing room will affect how it plays
