The man asked you a straightforward question. You have him a straightforward answer. If the current vendor has a problem, he might need to step up his game! Btw, love what you do!
Hi Chris l work in the auto body trade ‘ lm always trying to help people’ some people are users and other people are very greatfull at the end of the day lm Giveing 100% effort to help people’ you done right thing to help the guy from the body shop’ it makes you a better person
Just blown away that you can repair damage like that. I understand that's there's a science behind how the metal reacts, what you hammer, push and pull. Just amazing work again. Thanks for sharing Chris.
Thanks Chris, another class video vlog, really enjoyed following the process on this repair, it gave a good insight to the patience needed in your profession plus obviously the skills you need to perform such a repair. It was interesting to see you include the snail trail part in it , allowing us to see a part of the repair not go to plan but was fixable. Nice one. Thanks for sticking with the filming it must slow your process ,but it gave a real feel to your work, energy at the beginning tiredness nearing the end.
I have just picked your channel up this is only my second video...l am still amazed at the skill level; you are really making it look too easy--onto that question the fact that you even had to ask about it tells me your heart was honest that was about (money) that guy will have to just run faster is all and in his case do better work it was more personal then business for him making him still maybe miss the point Craftsmanship will always speak for itself. I.E you are good 👍🏽
Regarding the question you asked. I’v been running my own business for 25 years and my answer to you young man is that you didn’t do anything wrong. We are in the service industry, meaning we are here to serve our customers. Sometimes one vendors will be a better solution than the other. With that said I like building partnership with vendors. When I choosing your partner/vendors you need to establish the rules of fair play. If I was you I would follow up with a conversation to make sure he understands it wasn’t personal and that this is how you work and establish an agreement if possible. You put the end users needs first and that’s ok
The concentration needed is obvious. The patience - that's a lesson it takes a while to learn, probably by knowing & trusting your skills. I was hoping - expecting to see the fender too.
Nice work man needing to get some PDR work but I'm in a different country otherwise the work would be yours. All you did was answer a question honestly which imho means I would trust you as a customer. Maybe that other technician needs to lie less, spend more time building his reputation and he might get more work then wont be upset if he loses one client he might even be relieved!
You said it was a "blessing the body shop called and that pdr is changing for the better" Not sure what you meant by that, imo pdr has always been the better alternative and its the body shops that mostly begrudge having us there. Anyway the real blessing was having them do the R & I !
Great job! It helps to see this work done because there is a tendency to think it should be impossible to restore metal that perfectly, and impossible that the paint would move with the metal without showing any signs of damage. You showed that it could be done on a very high end car. I know you saw it, but in the final pull back shot of the job, there was still one small dent about 2 or 3 inches to the left of (i.e. above) the crease about 12 inches in front of the camera. You acted correctly in responding to the guy’s question. Your being called in to work in a traditional bondo/paint shop was like an orthopedic surgeon calling in a chiropractor to fix somebody’s back - they know you can do it, but they just don’t like it because its a threat to how they do business.
Keep it honest man, you are doing it right. Hey I have a couple of dings on a 350z hatch door with no access behind (close to edge). Im going to need to use the puller, whats the best glue to use??
Hi Chris that is great the job. that was low rate work but very good charlenge. if you can drill a hole that you tools can reach the last hard location much easy I thought . I did a few like this otherwise I wouldnot do it. may i am old 55. best wish for you. from Sydney
Also something that runs in all automotive places is a customer expectation that is usualy not within reason that they push u to meet anyways so imo u good....do what u can
You should try to use some type of vibrating tool. A high powered magnetic vibration puller or pusher. I have heard you say that you got part of a dent out with just the vibration of your hammer hitting. New susub. Keep up the good videos
It's a shame that many people don't respect the truth any more. As long as it concerns something about them that could be seen in a way they don't want, nostrils flare open. Anyway man, I support you in this.
Hi I have a question I’m in NY and I just opened a shop but I’ve been doing body work since for ever .... my question is does insurance pay for PDR? And if so how because your not changing parts or painting so do you get paid for hours?
Perhaps it would have been better to acknowledge the vender, and allow them to work the price out. you do excellent work, I'm learning a lot from watching you correct dents. I haven't learned how to see how the metal moves yet.
You do beautiful work !! Looks awesome! Liked !! Subbed !! I think you answered his ??? in a low key and fair way! Not much way to do it better ... sometimes people will get offended over hardly anything!
There is a reason "honesty is the best policy" is a long-repeated saying. It's right. you were right. Different subject, I am amazed a body shop of that scale doesn't have a PDR guy on staff. Is that common?
I just found your channel so forgive the late comment. So somebody did not want to talk to the current vendor and wanted to do the run around. They found you and asked the question. Should never have asked you as this then puts you in the hot seat for anything you say. So what I would have said is this. Hey I may know somebody but I don't want to step on any toes here and upset your current vendor. Let them parse that and if they ask again say ok long as its ok and get an agreement. Then give the vendor information. When the other vendor came on the camera and if it was the guy that touched you it was a MAN power play. He was attempting to show his frustration with a form of physical dominance . Your a nice guy I would have been Don't touch that does not work. Body language is 65% - 80% of human communication. Soon as he said you threw him under the bus I would have stated. I specifically asked them if they had talked to you before I gave out any information to make sure it was ok. They said yes and only after they said yes did I give them anything. Now your in the clear as you covered all your bases. I would also have talked to the guy that asked you for another vendor name and tell him that put you in a bad position with the vendor that came and talked to you . Basically keep me out of your tit for tat bull and solve your issues like you should have and talk to the first vendor. Also the vendor should have been talked to the people that asked you for another vendor. They were they ones that threw you and him under the bus. Sorry for the long explanation but something to consider.
I agree with what u did nothing wrong with answering a question.its not like u went to them and said hey I know a guy that would beat that guys quote. And by the way dude your amazing at that shit bro it blows my mind how u get that shit out and make it look like your not doing anything.it looks like your gonna make more damage but it somehow fixes it.fucking crazy I got skills bro.im from Alexandria route 1 near my Vernon square apartments.so it cool to see a TH-cam from my backyard doing good
It is best to be truthful. Your kindness will come back to you at some point in the future. Perhaps the other company will refer a client back to you someday. My wife and I always referred people to other businesses if asked. We had more work than we could handle because clients remembered us.
I love the honesty, and the fact out of the few vids i have watched of yours u have like a .05% diss like. Witch is either some one who has done this for a life time and is stuck in their way or someone wjo knows nothing at all so shot for shot u damn good...idk much about pdr but i like your stuff and well keep watching 👀
That's my Moto as well. I know you were just looking out but that's a bad spot to get in. Everyone knows somebody, I bet the invisible bra guy knows a dent guy. Nice repair
About the third party recommendation. It is not your fault if you are straight up honest in your advice, the problem lies with the other guy sharing what you told him. Sometimes the Truth hurts but that is not your problem as long as it is the truth.
Hello, 1st what kind of stand did u used to hold the door? As far the other guy u didn't nothing wrong, u actually trying to send business his way..some people just doesn't know how to appreciate things..
My thoughts are that if you refer someone else, probably best to let that person you are speaking to be there own judge of the individual you are referencing. Just to be safe! God bless.
Well, most BS lack real talent. Gone are the days of welding and fabricating panels, some of this is due to the change in car technology which makes those talents less desired. Either way most shops replace the panels and repaint or they sand, pull dent out as much as possible then add filler and paint.
The man asked you a straightforward question. You have him a straightforward answer. If the current vendor has a problem, he might need to step up his game!
Btw, love what you do!

Chris your tapping and blending is just off the Hook Dude!! Fantastic repair man
Just blown away that you can repair damage like that. I understand that's there's a science behind how the metal reacts, what you hammer, push and pull. Just amazing work again. Thanks for sharing Chris.
Nope! Legit suggestion. Some people will always find something to complain about.
Thanks Chris, another class video vlog, really enjoyed following the process on this repair, it gave a good insight to the patience needed in your profession plus obviously the skills you need to perform such a repair.

Thanks for sticking with the filming it must slow your process ,but it gave a real feel to your work, energy at the beginning tiredness nearing the end.
Thanks Chris. A lot of patience on these complex repairs
You were asked a question and you answered it. Nothing wrong with that at all. Keep up the great work!! Love your videos!!
Such an art form 🎨🖌️🖼️
You were truthful, nothing wrong with that.
That repair is great to watch. Keep those videos coming never a dull moment watching them. 👍🏻

I always look for new vendors , you never know when one will just drop dead ;-)

Guys tell me we are like wood peckers lol. Just caught that vendor part. Do unto others, as you want done to you is my Moto.
That's my Moto as well. I know you were just looking out but that's a bad spot to get in. Everyone knows somebody, I bet the invisible bra guy knows a dent guy. Nice repair
amazing but saw a remaining blemish 18:30
If my car i would be happy on 12:33
that's a magic little hammer you have here
the way i see it is, if the other vender was up to snuff? then they wouldnt be lookin eslewhere
The one thumbs down is from that disgruntled pinstriper. Lol
You snooze you lose !

100x100
You do realize that body shop's gonna be billing the insurance co. 10 times what you got for the job.

No fender!!! Waaaahhh😭
Fender wasn’t as bad I was done in 2 mins 😂
I would like to give my opinion but I couldn't follow your explanation.
Would it be too much to call you a master?
Just a little 😉
Plenty of skilled guys out there
You are in the business of taking care of your customers, not other venders, So his feelings were hurt, he can get over it.
That guy hating on you is just lazy.
I would help if I could.i have my own PDR business in south Africa western Cape and would help out anyone if I can
very nice job
very nice job
