Its sad we have to rebuild stuff like this that one wasnt too far gone but many are. A tip we put hvac duct tape around the edges to seal up fans to the flange helps with output. If you dont like that metal L roofing flashing works too ive even seen drywall corner bead the metal type lol. At least you wernt hosed at that basement leak lol. Ive seen rooms like that to cover up hvac in the richy rich houses they put 1/2 backerboard on the backside to block sound/protect from water with rubber base on the bottom. Ive even seen reguarded tile membrane on the walls and floors to seal them up.

The Panasonic whisper is really very quiet. However, you have to remove the old Nutone housing from the ceiling and cut the opening larger. Not everyone likes that. But never mind. A new motor usually lasts for a few years.
@@silverS70 I'm with you on the loud exhaust fans covering up unwanted sounds coming from the bathroom. I've replaced two quiet fans for the loader ones in my house. I also don't understand not having a water closet for the toilet. I'm in properties all the time with the toilet in the primary bathroom just sitting in the open, when there was plenty of room to have a water closet.
We put in the panasonics with humidity and motion for a reason in rentals. They get hardwired in no way to turn them off take away that switch! Even thoes on wall sensors can be turned off if the property manager would invest in them they can save mold water damage ect. Yes the fan is 170 to 240 dollars but it saves on labor install cost even making it cheaper than the combo sensor at 40 with 120 to 150 at hd supply which they order from.
@@thehandymanexperience226 the water panels are cheap and just insert into that black plastic housing. Have to take the housing out, usu 2 clips at the top to open it up and drop the new media filter in. They're not all universal size but most common sizes are at Lowes, HD, etc. Those filters need to be replaced at least once per year because they will get crudded up with calcium deposits. Sometimes worse. The drain hole can clog from deposits eventually, especially if you have well water in my experience. Drain hole needs to be checked and cleared annually as well. Vinegar helps clean it.
Also the little solenoid valve can get clogged up too and no water will flow into the unit despite the command to turn on. In this case disconnect the water supply line (1/4" tube) and blow it out with a can of compressed air. There's a little screen that gets clogged.
Odd the screen is missing though. Probably got clogged up with calcium and someone tossed it and didn't replace. Kinda useless without it. At least it doesn't leak anymore lol
@thehandymanexperience226 yeah. A steel screen/mesh the water trickles down and is picked up by the air flowing over it. I can't see a way of adding images here but if you google it you'll see the inside. It's a stainless cartridge that fits in there vertically
What was all the hard stuff up there? Was it cigarette smoke maybe? You cracked me up when you were putting your finger in there like you were afraid it was going to shock you or something lol.
@mynewhaircut I was afraid to make a mess. These fans cause a big mess but it wasn't that bad lol 🤣 love the honesty! Don't know what the hard stuff was.
I take my fans out once a year remove the end caps and 3n1oil them and reinstall. I also clean the shaft on both ends and same fans running for over 20 years.
Why wouldn’t you after removing fan cover turn it on and actually see where the problem was. You have the dam replacement just install it and get done with it. Aren’t they universal 💥 🎉how about just dumping some water down the hose without removing it😊 I don’t think the fan was as loud as your windshield wippers. Great fixum👏👏👍👍
Hey hey keep it PG bro lol 😆 I don't know how long a greased motor will last. Lol maybe it will last another 10 years I can't say anything, alot of guys bring up the greasing and I'm sure it will work. But it sounds like u and I r on the same page. @@thehandymanexperience226 If it's making noise it's done and you'll get called back in my experience. Then you look dumb. If it doesn't have a Zirc fitting, it's a sealed bearing, and never requires grease

Awesome 👌 sounds like a fun project!

Brian, do you have any way to clear out the ducting connected to the fan? Presumably that hard stuff is going to be in the duct also, isn't it?
Probably but the easiest way would just to replace the flex
I love your videos, I always learn something.
I gotta know... how much does your tool bag weigh fully loaded?
Heavy lol probably 80 lbs 🤣 bit good for the back
@thehandymanexperience226
And I thought mine was heavy at 42 😆
I know that you can get motors from HD Supply that are either clockwise or counterclockwise

There’s no water panel in the humidifier! It won’t work

Sealing the gaps between the fan housing and drywall keeps the fan from pulling air from an unconditioned space.

That may contribute to the water leaking out, the water trickles across the screen, without it may dribble out
Hard 'stuff' ... drywall sanded with fan on I'm sure, then moisture later hardened it.
