Very good info here. Without naming names, there are a couple of popular channels that post big collision type repairs with pulling towers and bridge pullers. In my opinion they often get carried away with attacking the crushed-in body line right away. Often times over pulling it and trapping the metal above it between the body line and crowns at the top of the panel. They still end up with spectacular results, but I’m pretty sure they would save a ton of time and have a much easier repair if they would soften those crowns up a little with some tension and tapping them towards the body line. I understand why they do it that way, because it’s so impressive to see that body line move so much metal on the rest of the panel.
Thanks Mark. Applying the correct theory always saves lots of time and gets a cleaner repair. There are some other Larger dent theory videos and repair videos where the Fairmount method is applied on this channel you may want to look at also.
Watching you draw it 2d really made me to think more about metal flow vs just high and low. I’m gonna beat on the hood stand a bit and practice this. Thanks

Building a slide hammer and a rail bridge just went to my project list! I'm much more confident about my bashed in truck bed that was t-boned, thanks to these videos. (even if I end up in bondo.)

I think the crowns and waves are the hardest part of paintless dent repair. A wave can be sent further down the panel if not worked properly and rushed. I am just getting into all this and I think the crowns and waves will be my biggest hurdles.
There are different factors to consider but it's not that hard once you get the basics and the big picture understood.

Great video and its making more confident to give this a shot. I need to buy the correct hammers though ; right? I used a ball peen hammer on a old car a very long time ago , it left little marks in the paint. I'm assuming this hammer with the flat circular head will prevent any kind of marking in the paint.
Ii's a highly polished hammer that will not damage paint as long as it's used cortrectly

So i bought a set on amazon, with the glue hammer and different points. I have a slight dent on my truck gate from a rock. I was thinking of trying it out myself and pulling it out right from the middle. But what you're saying is that I need to work on the area around it with the hammer? and then pull it out from the middle ? if thats correct, I was definitely clueless.
It depends on he dent, but usually I work the crown down fist. There are other videos that talk about this subject on my channel also.

Hey sir apreciate yur videos yuv learned well i went to school for bodywork they stressed that flanges ridges bodylines and crowns were to be fixed first and it was the body lines that had to be worked first but ive done dents where the metal wont move if u dont work the buckles first so i started working the lines the edges and the buckles each a little at a timeand that works good wut do u think of this method?
I do it the way shown on the video most of the time. The other methods don't give you as fast a finished repair.
The only way to learn how to fix dents is to get in there and do it. There’s a lot of people who can “fix dents” but not so many who can make it look good under a light. So what’s going to set you apart? Go for perfection every time.

I was wondering if this is a type of blending but your not spreading out the damage to hide it your moving it into center to then push it out.
No blending just releasing pressure off the crown before picking up metal.
What brand of Hammer and dolly do you recommend ? I saw a video of saying that it had to polished hammer
Eastwood tools or Finesse PDR tools have good quality hammers for reasonable price.
A wavey line is longer than a straight line.
How do you hide the extra metal from being stretched
The line is wavy because of the dent and crowns,.not because of stretched metal here.
so to Finnish the little low at the end.you work your way to the center. what tip do you use? this has been the bit I'm struggling with😞
No I hit the low with a sharp tip tool right at the start and stay there until finished. You may want too watch the theory party of this video again to help you.
@@TopGunPDRTraining I thought you said right at the end to come from just outside where the edge of dent started and work your way back to the center.. I think my tip needs to be sharper it a 1mm ultra dent point
@@jonno-cr8lv Sorry, I was thinking of my sharp dent video. You can come in from the outside in if the center is resisting you to help release it. I usually finish with a hard tip at the end after soft tipping the body line to restore the general shape.
@@TopGunPDRTraining thanks I already have watched it 3 times. just got a deep dent out about 98 percent with no mess just taping down around the center took about 40 minutes. this paint on car bonnet is real smooth so it's hard to get it 100% your videos are a great help thanks. can this be achieved with a sharp root beer tip? just I'm worried about scratching paint with sharp metal tip

@@JBIRD575 You really do need to watch the videos I mentioned. Most people CAN NOT learn PDR. The videos will let you know if you can learn PDR. I only train people I know will succeed and have a solid marketing plan. There is no guarantee as none of the students I accept ever fail to learn.

@@TopGunPDRTraining I just figured if I knew what I was looking at, this would be a place to start. Right now I have no idea what fog is. And as far as long view short view horizontal vertical I don't know when to apply them. I know you would say well until you know don't even try it. I'm looking at training schools but right now I'm trying to get the basics down so I can take full advantage of the short class time. I know you would say don't do that. But here in Florida and I guess everywhere. 2 week class is a down payment on a new home. I did miss your call yesterday and was going to call back I've just been busy. I was hoping to find something local in order to save on lodging. I enjoy your videos and appreciate your straight forward attitude. Any way I didn't mean to ramble on like that. I can sum up my goals by saying . I'm 52 in a great job that I will probably retire from. I'm looking to train and master my skill so I have something to fall back on to supplement my income and stay busy. Plus the movement of metal in pdr is fascinating to me. Thanks for your candor . Hi I'm self taught im just doing minor jobs to I getting buy 1 bar changeable tips but dents tabs I have is chins tabs hopless but to get ice tabs in Glasgow in Scotland if possible just till covid passes could you sale me 2 or ,3 ice taps I'm fiber optic enginer but since works stoped had to look different field just need some decent taps when thiscovid passes Al post you bottle brandy just to get me started on minor dents

Top Gun PDR Training , very talented, as a fabricator you learn how to move and unstressed metals. We had leather bags filled with sand in the old days , put it behind the panel and you could work it hard, is this used now?
They are definitely used by me and others for PDR, but in a different way than your probably thinking. Many of the old school tools and techniques are being used again for LDPDR ... Finally!!
