    My Cayenne 4.5 V8 comes from the factory with dry dump lubrication, is why I chose it over the 6 cylinder.

    Reason for me installing a dry sump system on my car: .... the overall height of the engine fitting in a car the engine wasn’t designed for.... hood clearances (sleeper status), & oil pan clearance problems with mopar older “K” frames design flaws, & routing parts for easier serviceability/ mechanic maintenance user friendly. Nothing like fixing a newer car & having to remove non-related parts just to get to the part that actually needs the servicing. 😆😂

    Couldn’t people just install a type of ball valve on the bottom of the oil tank: so once done driving the vehicle, turn off oil flow to the pump so it eleminates gravity wanting to drain & back feed oil into the pump after days of sitting... just always remember to open up the ball valve to let the whole system function like normal

      Or, mount the tank below the pump.

    What types of oil pressure will u get this system

    • @FlatironsTuning
      @FlatironsTuning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With this system, you have a lot of control over oil pressure. We have installed a dry-sump on our engine, and we are seeing 65 psi at idle, and 85 - 105 psi when running. And that peak pressure is adjustable on the pump.

      What types of oil do you use for a system like this

  • @tturi2
    @tturi2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I kind of just want to use my standard style oil pump with the pickup plumbed into an oil tank and scavenge pumps ran off the accessories belt, and an accusump for cranking pressure

      Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. I'd recommend taking a look at our video talking about the difference between an Accusump and Drysump:

    Quick question. What about oil change how do you empty all that system so you don't have a old oil in the pump and stuff??? Just with a drill like you talked about when you prime the engine ?

    What about using one way valve between a scavenge pumps and tank to prevent oil from draining back to a engine ?

    • @NotnaRed
      @NotnaRed 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's how they do it on accusump systems. Or just a solenoid that closes when ignition is turned off

  • @bradysolaem2467

    Does this eliminate the pickup tube factory oil pump etc or how does that work they work together for best lubrication

      Thank you for your question. Yes, this replaces all of those components.

    Does the dry sump system get rid of the engine oil pump or how does it work once it sucks the oil from the sump? Where does it pump that oil? How is it restributed then?

    • @FlatironsTuning
      @FlatironsTuning  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for your question. Yes, a Dry-Sump oiling system locates the oil outside of the pan in an external tank, and the pump itself would replace the stock oil-pump (assuming that the car did not come with a dry-sump oiling system from the factory). The oil enters the engine in the same location as it would with the stock oil pump, through various methods depending on the application. And then the dry-sump will have a second stage that actively pumps the oil from the pan (which would be modified from stock as well) back to the external tank.
      Thanks for watching!

    Seem you could have the oil filter relocation lower then the pump. This would prevent drain back. As the filter has an anti drain back valve.

      I now run xd-100 2 stroke oil in my old truck filled and premix. A dry sump with a VRO pump and oil injectors is what I would like to go with for total loss burn off. This dry sump thing gave me some ideas for this.

      more thermal mass means lower/ more stable engine temps.

      I am wondering if this could work on s Detroit diesel 2 strove v8? I like the dry sump because it allows tap off of it and run VRO oil injection into the intake, then fill the whole thing with silkolene pro 2 sx 2 stroke oil and burn it off with a VRO pump and oil injectors. That’s what I would onbs v8 BB aluminum motor converted to a 2 stroke. The oil injection will work on a 4 stroke also ad I have tried it

    It's essentially an insurance policy for your engine.
