*80's, it was tested in the early 80's. historically it was capable of using and the italian army did use german DM-33 and DM-34 20x139 APDS shells with 40mm and 44mm of penetration at 1000m and thus about 90-100mm of penetration at 10m (which combined with its high rate of fire, high mobility and capability vs aircraft) means that you could move it to tier 5.0-7.0 (personally i would move it to 6.0-7.0 if given its APDS shells instead of AP-I shells in its belts) thus it would be paired with other cold war concepts and weapons and would be significantly higher tier then the M42 AA (which should also have belts as part of its modifications to allow the quad mount was to modify the gun to have disintegrating belts)

Just want to point out that since patch 1.89 all wheeled vehicles are much easier to control/drive and the R3 T20 FA-HS no longer has full 600 round clip. Now it has 5 clips each holding 120 rounds meaning it can reload "safer" at a capture point and you can take multiple ammo belt types. Also the recoil of that 20mm is insane if you are not shooting in front of the vehicle.
Guess that explains how I killed that one a while back even though I thought only his gun was visible I couldn't watch the kill cam because their were other enemies so I didn't know what happened. Honestly I just assumed that a small sliver of his top must of been vulnerable that I couldn't see but your explanation does make more sense.
The entire car is vulnerable to 50 cals all of Italy’s smaller vehicles until the centaro can be one shot by a 50 cal fired from across the map had it happen. The r3 with two barrels now has a 13k repair cost which is bullshit because people who ever tried to play it are bitching because they get killed by it because it’s fast. Without considering the fact that it dies to literally anything that sees it. And you always get uptierd so you end up fighting tanks that go almost as fast as you. Your only defense is speed and with the aiming system in game no one ever misses unless they just suck at shooting. So speed is shit for defense. If your lucky you can find a place to hide far forward and pop one or two but then you die so meh not op. I thought it was op until I started playing Italy now I know that it takes a shit Los of skill and luck to not die the second you run into a tank

It has the 2nd fastest firing cannon for ground forces just behind the M163 and it's only 3.7 BR or some shit. As a tank destroyer idk but as an SPAA it completely breaks balance for anything that isn't a jet.
Warthunder like most vehicle based games has an anti roll over feature that will try and counteract a rollover. That doesnt mean that you cant do it but when you land on your side it will tilt you back far enough usually. If you completely fuck up and land on your head you probably did something you really shouldn't have (like jump from a cliff). It also only seems to counteract sideways roll over which is why most people who land on their head will do so from a front or backflip.
Due to its insane speed, I have no issue staying alive in the R3 in arcade. Just dodge and weave. I got 2 tank kills, and an unspeakable amount of crits on light to medium tanks whilst screaming around the entire map in arcade.

You said what??? You can use AA's to destroy tanks very easily especially with m19 i get once 2 kills (on arcade mode where are medium and heavy armored cowards) using zis-43 that has no armor at all and about (as i remember) 40-50 mm maximum penetration
Amazing tutorial, I’ve completely mastered this vehicle. However something you forgot to mention : The firerate is so high that you can manage to squeeze in shells where they shouldn’t go. Example is the KV-1 and T-34s mantlet. This mean that you can indeed, kill any vehicle at your own br no matter the armour, hence why the rating should be 10/10.
Based on my experience with this pizza vehicle, t-34's side armor is rather tough nut to crack compared with panzer IV or a sherman tank side armor. Might well try to squeeze tons of 20 mm to t-34 gun / mantlet, but managed to destroy the gun barrel only. I find it useless, so i usually avoid contact with t-34s
Except it and all the other so called op vehicles die instantly from 1 50 cal round from across the map and the next aa vehicle for Italy is absolute shit so you’ll be using this for the next two teirs at least
@@josephburge168 Lol no. I see the phrase "no armor is best armor" being thrown around now, and it is probably at it's most apt here. Its immune to rifle caliber rounds, resistant to heavy MG rounds (they have to be relatively close to pen), and most shells will pass right through the vehicle without exploding. Also, I dont think I've ever been hull broken in it. If you're playing the vehicle right, you dont have to worry about being shot. You're light years faster than your competition, and can do massive flanks with little fear of retaliation.
We need one on the AB 43, its basically the slightly slower brother but with with a average penetrating cannon and yet it has around a 4 second reload rate. So in all its just a fat R3 T20.

Just for me, or sometimes ppl just be invisible. When they fire at me, they appear. I'm dead with a tank on my front, that wasn't there one second before. I also need some help with spotting other tanks. Everyone can see me, but I can't see anyone.
The problem is even if there is 33mm of lets say Duralumin it still equates to less than 10mm of Rolled homogeneous steel. The same issue Scorpion has. WT doesn't translate for different materials.

I have never played this or been killed by this when playing with my maxxed out tank driving crew on the m18 gmc hellcat. I'd say if you max out driving, reloading and aiming speed on the m18 it's better. I've been able to get behind enemy lines, take out 3-7 tanks in realistic at 7.0BR with one or two shots. Don't think you'd be able to do that with this little guy, atleast not on higher battle ratings. And you can hit the sickest jumps with the Hellcat, on Berlin or any map with those piles, you can expect to see me flying over houses and barricades to land, and while you process what has happened, I'm next to you.
But what's best to use in the first of the battle? A medium or tank destroyer? I don't have any other types, i find it a bit difficult when i use tank destroyers in the middle of the match and at the end of it, so i started to use tank destroyers at the first of the match, and then medium tanks. Also i was thinking about researching Italian tanks but these tanks look boring, they all look the same thats why i didn't like them maybe in the future i will change my mind like when i changed from German tanks to Japanese.
I think TD vs MT at the start of the match depends on the map. In a flat map where you can snipe a TD is better, so you should start with it. In a city map MT are better. In maps where both options exist it's up to you. Regarding Italian tanks being boring it depends on your playstile. Rank 1 and 2 have the more conventional line ups. You have access to tanks ranging from beastly to crap. The TD line is the worst of the 4, only having one or two inrtestlng vehicles worth researching for the sake of playing them (the L3/33 cc because of its trollines and the M11/39 because it's a better AA than the AS42). The medium line is somewhat repetitive, as four out of five of the tanks for the first 2 tiers are the same tank just upgraded, with the last one being just an Italian mix between the Sherman and the Panzer 4 F1. Despite this they still have differences if compared to their counterparts of other nations. The M13s are on the slower but more armoured side, and offer a good gun both round wise and handling wise. The M13/40 III is considering the third best reserve in the game. The M14/41 is just a faster M13, but being 0.7 br higher loses the armour advantage. The M15/42 gets a much better gun, engine and armour, but at 2.3 it basically plays like a Panzer 3 J that can turn its turret in an appreciable way. The P26/40 is an interesting tank, as it plays like a Sherman with a Panzer F1 turret and no reverse. Can be really good at sniping thanks to its HEAT round, and if you manage to side shot any tank except for a KV-1 your APHE guarantees a one shot. The light tank line is the one that stands out the most for different gameplay opportunities. None of the light tanks feel in any way underwhelming, with the AB41 being almost godly if mastered, while the M41 90/53M is a very specialist tank that not all people might be able to play correctly. The AA line is lame, as it has AA vehicles very similar to their German counterparts. Tier 3 to early tier 5 is when it starts getting interesting. Most vehicles become glass cannons, with the exception of a pair of TDs. The light tank and AA are now the backbone of most lineups, while the medium tanks and the TD tank line offer good sniper tanks, but really none of them except for the the Italian Firefly are good enough to build a lineup around. At tier 5 things somewhat revert to a very MBT glass cannon style, with the addition of more light tanks and an unusual SPAAG. All in all the Italian tech tree is a glass cannon one with a lot of meme vehicles.

@@blackavant9405 Well that's true for most tanks in most nations. Italy still has wildly different tanks throught the tree, even thought a lot of them look very similar to each other or are direct upgrades. The only really repetitive tanks are the TDs from the M41 75/32 to the M43 75/46.

It has the 2nd fastest firing cannon yes, but it has only one cannon. Quad AA at similar brs have an overall higher fire rate.

Sadly the R3 T20 FA-HS has been nerfed in the imperial navy patch, it splits its ammo into 4-5 mags, 120 bullets in each mag. :(

I have never played this or been killed by this when playing with my maxxed out tank driving crew on the m18 gmc hellcat. I'd say if you max out driving, reloading and aiming speed on the m18 it's better. I've been able to get behind enemy lines, take out 3-7 tanks in realistic at 7.0BR with one or two shots. Don't think you'd be able to do that with this little guy, atleast not on higher battle ratings. And you can hit the sickest jumps with the Hellcat, on Berlin or any map with those piles, you can expect to see me flying over houses and barricades to land, and while you process what has happened, I'm next to you.
I don't see how people shoot like 50 bullets to kill 1 T-34 while shooting side hull cause I burst it everywhere and barely use around 20 rounds

I used that to kill a TD
But what's best to use in the first of the battle? A medium or tank destroyer? I don't have any other types, i find it a bit difficult when i use tank destroyers in the middle of the match and at the end of it, so i started to use tank destroyers at the first of the match, and then medium tanks.
Also i was thinking about researching Italian tanks but these tanks look boring, they all look the same thats why i didn't like them maybe in the future i will change my mind like when i changed from German tanks to Japanese.
I think TD vs MT at the start of the match depends on the map. In a flat map where you can snipe a TD is better, so you should start with it. In a city map MT are better. In maps where both options exist it's up to you.
Regarding Italian tanks being boring it depends on your playstile.
Rank 1 and 2 have the more conventional line ups. You have access to tanks ranging from beastly to crap.
The TD line is the worst of the 4, only having one or two inrtestlng vehicles worth researching for the sake of playing them (the L3/33 cc because of its trollines and the M11/39 because it's a better AA than the AS42).
The medium line is somewhat repetitive, as four out of five of the tanks for the first 2 tiers are the same tank just upgraded, with the last one being just an Italian mix between the Sherman and the Panzer 4 F1. Despite this they still have differences if compared to their counterparts of other nations. The M13s are on the slower but more armoured side, and offer a good gun both round wise and handling wise. The M13/40 III is considering the third best reserve in the game. The M14/41 is just a faster M13, but being 0.7 br higher loses the armour advantage. The M15/42 gets a much better gun, engine and armour, but at 2.3 it basically plays like a Panzer 3 J that can turn its turret in an appreciable way. The P26/40 is an interesting tank, as it plays like a Sherman with a Panzer F1 turret and no reverse. Can be really good at sniping thanks to its HEAT round, and if you manage to side shot any tank except for a KV-1 your APHE guarantees a one shot.
The light tank line is the one that stands out the most for different gameplay opportunities. None of the light tanks feel in any way underwhelming, with the AB41 being almost godly if mastered, while the M41 90/53M is a very specialist tank that not all people might be able to play correctly.
The AA line is lame, as it has AA vehicles very similar to their German counterparts.
Tier 3 to early tier 5 is when it starts getting interesting. Most vehicles become glass cannons, with the exception of a pair of TDs.
The light tank and AA are now the backbone of most lineups, while the medium tanks and the TD tank line offer good sniper tanks, but really none of them except for the the Italian Firefly are good enough to build a lineup around.
At tier 5 things somewhat revert to a very MBT glass cannon style, with the addition of more light tanks and an unusual SPAAG.
All in all the Italian tech tree is a glass cannon one with a lot of meme vehicles.
@@thefirstprimariscatosicari6870 Italian tanks might be strong i don't know but what makes them boring that they all look the same but they got some upgrades, like a better cannon or a bigger engine or something like that, but i just can't stand the look of these tanks, i wanted to research some Italian tanks but then i went to Japanese tree, and now i reached rank 3 of Japanese tree and still going down. As for planes im still thinking of going for attacker Italian planes but when i saw the last Japanese plane i mean the highest br plane in the whole tree i thought about going for Japanese, and still making my mind.
@@blackavant9405 Well that's true for most tanks in most nations. Italy still has wildly different tanks throught the tree, even thought a lot of them look very similar to each other or are direct upgrades. The only really repetitive tanks are the TDs from the M41 75/32 to the M43 75/46.
