Now we're talkin! There is no ukelele in Bluegrass, and it's not a violin it's a fiddle. I think you're just f'in with me now.

Fiddle is just an informal nickname for violin

@@leob4403 It's a style of playing. Bluegrass, Cajun, Irish fiddle. Classical musicians play the violin.

There's no problem in a person relating something he or she or they knows to what they see that is unfamiliar. Yes, the 'ukele' her is a mandolin and is in many ways different, but in many ways similar too.

@@mitchyoung93 except a ukulele uses 4 nylon strings as opposed to 8 steel, and is shaped differently. I understand that those unfamiliar often confuse the two.

@@jamesoconnor9027actually some ukulele mandolin hybrids out there but a lot of that has to do with customized instruments that people made themselves

In bluegrass world, violin is called a fiddle. That isn't a ukulele. It's a mandolin.

There aren’t any violins in Blue Grass just fiddles. Violins have strings, fiddles have strangs.

I miss my violin now. Shouldn't have left it in Cali with my other equipment. 😔

You'd like the Tony Rice Unit - really cool combination of bluegrass, jazz and other genres.

One last comment.....historically bluegrass was about country music being played by experts on their musical instruments. Traditional country music featured vocals more than musical expertise. That has changed somewhat as modern country music is played by many musical experts, often session musicians in Nashville.

Also had to do with with changing the stigma of mountain music

They weren't too into being called hillbillies rightly so so you started seeing these groups in the forties that played in the traditional folk groups but but they were well-dressed focused on their musical expertise but they were well-dressed focused on their musical expertise everything was all acoustic and no percussion the issue a lot of people have with bluegrass it's bluegrass tended to leave out a lot old-time songs that wasn't centered around the mountain life
