      They are interesting but putting a sink toilet in a truck stop or mechanical shop would sure be gummed up with grease and oil quickly though. But in offices its a awesome idea.

      Yesss! I hate it. I have American Eagle jeans and if you try you may be able to fit a penny in the pocket. I only throw those on if I'm lazy and have to run somewhere. Plus I really only wear Levis. I carry everything on me, and i only wear skinny jeans. So what I do is going websites and looks for Levis skinny leg, and if my size is available I get em. They're no different than womens, except my front pockets go far down to my thigh so I know I'm not losing anything.

    • @WakenerOne

      I remember in high school watching a demonstration at GA Tech in which two pieces of a polymer, identical except for the hole in one of them, were subjected to stresses while polarized light was shined through them. The way the light was refracted made it clearly visible where the samples were undergoing stress, and where the lines of stress were converging, and where permanent damage had been done once the test was over. That one hole led to an intricate webwork of damage, revealing how weak one hole made the entire sample. I can't help but wonder if, for the sake of getting the hair out of the way, the back of the head is placed at increased risk. And then, there's the issue of what happens if the hair gets snagged on something in the event of an accident. Long hair going out the bottom of the helmet can be tucked directly into a jacket, kutte, or other garment.

    That toilet sink thing would be great. I've got a tiny toilet room in my home which was built before a change in regulations, which means I can no longer get a sink in there. And that annoys me greatly. But replacing the existing loo with one of these would be ideal - no more traipsing across the landing with post toilet hands hoping the bathroom isn't occupied! GET THESE IN BRITAIN!!!*

    We have #19 in Australia, very common. They're called scramble crossings. It actually started in the US but fell out of favour there because reasons. The way they work is very simple, instead of two cycles at the lights there are three - x traffic, y traffic, and pedestrians. Pedestrians almost never cross at the same time cars do at these intersections, because every direction for pedestrians goes green at the same time. Pedestrians use the entire intersection to cross the road, so they can get to any side of the intersection from any other, in one go. It's very efficient and works very well. Doesn't annoy drivers at all, because drivers do not need to wait for a pedestrian to cross the road for the driver to turn left/right, for example.

    • @garrettholland664
      @garrettholland664 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moon Moon you are also going to be spending a lot more time waiting as a driver for pedestrians

    • @russellsenenfelder2281
      @russellsenenfelder2281 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      they mainly put these in areas where most of the traffic is padestrian anyway. For instance, the local university. People drive around it, not through it for the most part. So aside from the public busses and the odd professor, the roads are footpaths in a lot of areas.

    • @garrettholland664
      @garrettholland664 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We aren't waiting for pedestrians, pedestrians are waiting for us. Cities are based around cars in the US, not around passengers. We have no problem letting these people wait

      Your ear wax actually helps keep your ears clean (of everything except wax), so not a good idea to keep removing it all the time. However we usually use a sterile water jet to remove the wax so that will clean out the ear anyway, and presently the ear will create more wax anyway.

      Actually "scatter" crosswalks are used within the US. All traffic is stopped for the 2 minutes of crossing time. Then all pedestrian traffic is stopped for 4 minutes to allow both streams of traffic to go through their cycle with no delays for pedestrians in the turning lane. It's different than we're used to but it does work well. You just don't see them everyplace.

      Actually that was a requirement after WWII; Japan was to never again build and aggressive force, they could only spend on defense (it was part of their Constitution), but alas, times have changed and in the past few years the people have voted to spend money on a stronger military. The real reason they have a better infra structure is they don't require the investments in such things to have an immediate profit.

      I agree with you it would be nice to see all of these, the only thing I am truly leary of is the whole automated thing, whether that be cashiers and or vending machines every where for everything, yes they are both convenient and can actually be a quicker check out time for all, because there would not be someone behind the transactions asking how you are, did you find everything okay, is there anything else you may need? And so forth and so on....but the biggest problem with this is that there is one less social interaction made on any given day leading to more depression and doesn't Japan already have an alarmingly high rate of suicides?
      It is human nature and scientifically proven, people need interaction with other life forms. People of kind and caring hearts that see the whole picture and know they are not the center of the universe know that every single individual out there needs good human activity preferably in a manner that at minimum appears to be caring about them if it does not infact do so the interaction must at least act like there is caring being given that the other life forms cares about the individuals feelings or shows their own form of love to the person! Unless the person is able to switch that part of their brain off or redirect it in a manner similar to instead of what they need by instead taking care of others even if they will not respond in any way, or by taking care of wildlife or gardening, anything to transfer emotion even if it is only them doing the giving but it needs in most cases to be something alive! However in many Japanese persons situations and or cases they will transfer attention to inanimate objects hence the reason for so many products made to ressemble a human, at least for them there is not much gender confusion issues especially not gender roles, it is the japenese If I remember correctly but I am probably wrong who came up with the blow up doll, in most cases female, as well as creating the lap pillow if I am remembering the name correctly, which is meant to resemble lying ones head in a loved one's lap. I believe this is also why the majority of the robots they create for public interaction are more realistic and most generally feminine, as it is the male population there that far out weighs the female population and there for most boys and men become introverted for one so much competition to compete with to get a girl and so few girls to even seemingly have a fighting chance that by the time they reach junior high and for sure high school the girls are all taken in most cases and who is going to be the best prospects as far as looks and income have been pretty well hammered out although depending on tradition....at that age no one can be sure of their future safety especially wealth wise unless they are just stinking rich and set to inherit and nothing any economy does will affect whether or not the income changes vastly, only then would persons be sure but in most cases like that they are merely marriages of convenience to try and maintain the income or an image but very very very rarely ever will one of those type business deals ever become a happy marriage! Unfortunately for many young men and women they lack this knowledge at such formidable years and end up seeing their lives as lonely and hopeless and something being wrong with them thus making them introverts!
      I feel for each and every person out there needing to feel loved, for I am a type of person who feels very shunned by those who are supposed to love me and most in general anyway! So I have gone my entire life with a shield up to protect myself from being hurt by those who will eventually leave me anyway and for most of my life it has worked! I was able to love people and have relationships but they never have lasted! So again I must protect myself because I let my shield down with the last one because he was supposed to be special different more grounded, but nope in fact i think he was worse thannall others combined so Just do the best you can with what you have and be As loving and caring as you can be and atleast you will know you never did wrong by anyone you did as you should have do no worries your conscience and heart are good and clear and clean!!!

    There are crossings like the Shibuya Crossing outside of Japan! Downtown Toronto has one, at least. The self-check-out thing was happening in North America a few years before it came to Japan. Automatic mops are more of an American thing than a Japanese thing. I've lived in Japan over a decade and have never seen the pony-tail helmet, the karaoke thing, the butter grater, tie wallet, those chopsticks, or the umbrella tie. That's because they're tacky. People in Japan have common sense. Garbage products don't become popular. The toilet sink thing is normal and I have no idea why it's not done outside of Japan. I also don't understand why non-Japanese companies don't use Japanese packaging technology. Sometimes western goods are a pain in the butt because you can't open them easily. It makes me wonder why they don't just put in the minimal effort to make the packages easy to open. For the most part, this video is about tacky inventions. You should try doing a serious one, because there are many things in Japan that are actually very smart, that everybody uses, but for some reason, haven't caught on in the west or other places.

      Not the same thing - The units described in this video use the water drained from the sink to fill the flush tank of the toilet. The combination sink/toilet units found in some institutions in the U.S. are simply that; combination units. They don't conserve the grey water from the sink to flush the toilet - both fixtures independently use fresh water and drain directly to the sewer.

      That was one of the other things that was genius I thought. I never realised that blind people can see what is in a tin. It handy for all kind of tins. With other things you can smell it, but when a tin is open you had to consume it immediately.

    2:30 - tie f*nny pack? Does that word have a different meaning in the US? Because, don't say that in the UK

      it's one of the nicer euphemisms for 'buttocks' over here, and those little packs where popular in the 90's... it's like the tie version.

      Timmy Meyer, in the USA, we call bum bags "fanny packs" here, and "fanny" means "butt" here.
      Butt packs.

      +Tidal They are SUPER cheap. Like, I have never seen a motel in Canada as cheap as capsule hotels, and would still have my kidneys after. They are great for vacations with one or two people, for road trips, or the like when you just need a place to sleep.
