    By the way, the whole reason parsley is on your plate is because you're *supposed* to chew it and eat it at the end of a meal to freshen your mouth and breath. It's not for decoration, it's for fresh breath. The ancient Romans knew that.

    Just an add-in here. The lack of smiling in photos before the 1910s/20s is mainly due to the tech at the time. There were no fancy sensors or digital arrays/servos to allow a quick image. Smiling and staying still enough for the long exposure time was almost impossible. Stay golden everyone!

    • @johnandersen8998
      @johnandersen8998 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Moving during the seconds of exposure would blur the image. Children often appear fuzzy in older photos because they couldn’t hold still. Victorians often had a sense of humor in photos. Smiling wasn’t often done in art and I believe that carried over into photography for quite awhile until advertising took over.

    Most dairy products taste different from state to state. For example, yoghurt made in New England is much less tangy and more creamy than the same brand of yoghurt in the mid west. Using different cows, different feed, and a different climate definitely changes the taste of dairy products.

      I recently had a short, but nice trip in northern Italy and I've noticed that some sweets made in southern Italy taste somehow different than ones made in northern Italy, despite being the same kind of sweets (cannoli mostly) made the exact same way with the same recipe! Just because the milk used is probably different, coming from different breeds of cows as you said, etc

      At first, the tampering was believed to have been carried out by a disgruntled employee, which was why every bottle of Extra-Strength Tylenol was removed from store shelves nationwide. Incidentally, Johnson & Johnson's quick, thorough response is cited as the ideal way to handle a product recall -- no hesitation, complete transparency, and full responsibility for the product. They were safety-sealing all their products long before the FDA got around to requiring it. The whole event, instead of making people distrust J&J and tanking the company, resulted in American's trusting the company more than ever. It's a classic business school case study now.

    An interesting discussion on chocolate. I was born and raised next to Hershey Pennsylvania and have lived in Ecuador the last ten years. It is amazing how few people know that natural chocolate is NOT tasty. A tour of any chocolate factory usually leaves people in surprise. I am surprised at no mention of Ecuadorian chocolates, when almost half the cacao trees are grown in South America. Cacao trees grow within 25 degrees of the Equator, exactly where I live. Ecuador does not sweetening with corn syrup. It must be naturally sweetened, which here is natural sugar or fruits. I would advise people to try Ecuadorian chocolate, especially Pacari. I think it has 24 flavors, which include fruits and vegetables. And, as most items in Ecuador, very natural.

While I'll say I'm jealous of you and being able to enjoy delicious, quality chocolate, the heat would be too much for me! Nonetheless, what a beautiful home you have now. My mom grew up in Colombia. tons of sugar goes into chocolate to make it sweet.. white choclate is the worst as that has tones of fat and sugar put into it with very little actual chocolate. milk chocolate has a bit less sugar and fat but still bad for u. plain chocolate has a lot less sugar and fat and is a bit healthier for u but its bitter. it also has more caffiene in it than coffee does. white and milk chocolate has most of the caffiene taken out in the production of it.
      More cocoa is used in European chocolate thats why it taste better than US chocolate.
      Us chocoalte only has about 5% coca in it Where as some of the european chocolate has 90%.

    The reason people didn't smile in photos in the 1800s is because no one could hold a steady smile long enough for the long exposure time. If they moved even a little bit, it would cause blurring. Taking a picture of your deceased child was standard practice back then, as it was probably the only photo ever taken of them, and sometimes the parents would be in the photo. The parents have slightly fuzzy edges but the deceased child will be perfectly clear because they were not moving at all. The photos are very macabre to me.

      Thanks. I thought the bad teeth thing just didn't really wash. Your explanation makes far more sense. Also the idea that people had bad teeth "back then" is probably false. When I was a child, my oldest living relative was born in 1876. And my grandfather, born in 1896 was a dentist. Not only did most of them not use toothbrushes (a pick or a bit of cloth worked), they also didn't eat massive amounts of sugar and this had *less* tooth decay than modern people. My father (born in 1917) grew up on a farm and never had a toothache, toothbrush, cavity or need to see a dentist until... He left home, started earning money and drinking a single coke every day after work. He had toothpaste and a toothbrush, but it was the daily sugar that did it to him. He cut out the coke at age 18 and to my knowledge never had another tooth problem til he died at age 96 with all his teeth.

Upper management didn't even know that Montanez was going around telling people he invented it, but FritoLay has proven that it wasn't his idea. The Tylenol foil was actually aired on Forensic Files. This case happened in Washington and the victim was a woman named Sue Snow. She had a headache and her husband gave her 2 Excedrin capsules; she died shortly after. More individuals became ill and even died, so the stores pulled off every capsule bottle of medication until they could find the root of the cause. Well, it turned out that a woman named Stella Nichols placed the cyanide in the capsules for very a self centered reason. She was in dire need for cash and decided to cash in on her husband's life insurance (which later turned out to be fraudulently signed documents). She would receive a larger payout if she could prove that her husband died an "accidental" death (what's more accidental than a bad batch of medications - right). She went to various stores and added cyanide to various capsule products and as more individuals became ill and even died due to the contamination, now, Stella's husband was a victim. The one thing that tripped her up was that the cyanide was crushed in a dish that Stella used to crush her tablets in to treat the water in her aquarium. The green specks (antialgea treatment) was how the police linked her to this crime.

      It was the Tylenol tainted with cyanide in the Chicago Area in 1982 just as the Video stated.
      The Washington cyanide case was the 1st person convicted on product tampering. The safety measures were put in place after the 1982 incident.

    American chocolate - because of that ingredient - also has a slight "vomit" taste to it. A lot of European chocolate brands actually add that flavour into the chocolate they import to American, too, because Americans are used to it.

    As a boy of 8 in 1958- 1963 Germany the U.S. Army did Cold War Maneuvers in the Woods behind our house. I lived in Mörfelden, Hessen as their Caravan of a variety of vehicles came by,the largest were personell carriers with no top. The soldiers would throw pks. Of wrigley’s gum , Spearmint, Doublemint and Juicyfruit. The other candy was Hershey Bars. I was crazy for them and usually
    gathered a few. I swore one day to go to America and eat all the Hershey bars I want. I came to the U.S. in 1964 and now am 72 and eat at least 1 -2 bars every day and will till death do us part. I have tasted Cadbury and many other brands yet the only candy I eat anymore is my Hershey bars. The only cereal is Tooty Fruity’s and the only soda is Cherry Coka Cola!! Those are my three vice’s. No smoke, no Booze and no illegal drugs or weed. In closing, Stay young…..😂 getting old sucks!!
