There must be some fabulous chateaux near that village to jack the prices up...

I preferred the cheaper village or the expensive on.

I prefer the more expensive one… but not at that price!

Yay, road trip with Dan Newton! That village with no humans was post-apocolyptic!

Well I wouldn't go quite that far, but it was pretty quiet, I did cut out the old lady giving her barking dog what for though!

I love the video but instead of commenting on the price and beautiful scenery, I noticed that your video footage looks very professional. Shots from above the car and from above where you're walking.. that's awesome.
Okay, I'm back to watch the rest of the video. Thank you so much

TH-cam is a learning curve. I try to add new bits into the mix each video, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But I am getting closer to myself being happy with them.

Thanks. I'm convinced we don't belong in a small village with no shops.

Nice tour. Thanks for doing the walking for us. Idyllic village on a charming river with comparatively expensive property. May I infer the risk of flooding there is low?

That was Brantome, there is a big wier just down a bit and lots of flat ground after, so I would guess that it is very low

At the 4:25 mark, did he attach the camera to a squirrel? Or did he shimmy up a tree for an aerial view? That was a little weird, considering he was holding out the camera on a selfie stick for the first four minutes.... Ah no, later on he has a pigeon-cam hovering above as he walks. Or a drone.
Having dealt with real estate sales data for years in the states, I'll point out that these averages can be misleading. A median would be more helpful. If there are three sales, and one is a total palace, then it will skew the average upwards, and a large ruin would skew the per meter price down. If there are 1,000 sales, one great or bad sale won't move the dial much. My wife and I are pending on a chateau between Pau and Biarritz at about 1,800 euros per square meter (depending on which agent's size you use). But after we hired an inspector, we won't close at that price (moisture issues leading to possible structural issues and definite insect issues--bummer!). Either we will close low enough to help us repair the problems, or walk away. Emotional roller coaster. Such is life.

Hi there Bob, I am very greatful for the help from Fred my Flying Squirrel!
As for the data, I totally agree, I have already done several videos about medians, but I found it so surprising that this village was so expensive...
I have since checked the DVF website, and there are no real "outstanding" sales in the commune that could explain it.
Good luck with the Chateau !

In those two villages, I can inderstand that, but you have Perigueux, Bergerac, Sarlat la Caneda there. Bordeaux is'nt too far. Then you have all the chateaux and medieval villages. Green-laning, moutain bikes, riding, canoeing. Plenty of restaurants, al fresco evenings, etc, etc. If you are looking for 24 hour nightlife, move to Paris. But if you like the simpler pleasurses Dordogne if great.

      @@FrenchEstateAgent _'Bordeaux isn't too far.'_
True. I suppose an attraction would be the wineries, and this would either exclude driving or befriending a teetotaller. How is public transit from a village such as Fanlac to Bordeaux?
I'm wondering if you could include proximity and availability to public transit (bus and/or rail) when you review housing and villages. If I'm a 20-minute bicycle or bus ride to a train station that has commuter service to a 'major' city (one with a population of 100k and greater) a few times a day, that makes the area quite attractive.
