Cheers Tom, I agree they are top quality! I was tempted to do a jellyfish catch and cook... I've been really enjoying your vids recently so thanks for taking the time to make them!
You have made me hungry Ryan! I'm sitting here recovering from a hernia op yesterday so its good to see vids like this! I've been kayaking along that Portland coast and its really gorgeous!
I love crab more than lobster, but picking or dressing a crab can be messy and tedious. Normally I get my crab from greenslades in Poole Dorset and get a pot of fresh crab that saves all the messing around. Good vid. 👍
Cheers man. They are a lot of work to get the meat out but I think it's worth it! Also I think there's more meat in a crab than a lobster but I'd take both if whenever I can!
Amazing buddy nice to see a video from you 😉 bet it’s nice to be Back in the water, you definitely give me a kick up the ass to get my kit out and get in the drink and get some fish ✌️keep well buddy
Thanks mate, even a fairly poor days spearfishing is better than not going! You might be interested in my next video, caught another monkfish yesterday!
This guy’s got balls. I enjoy catching crabs with my hands when I go snorkelling/ swimming but I rarely go out past the point where I can’t see the bottom. I usually stay in the 20/30 feet range lmao, but great video anyway
I live in Weymouth so getting a crab is easy for me and so eat a fair few, BUT I've never seen anyone use a claw hammer to clean one ..... it worked what can I say
Ryan i am really interested in Spearfishing, can i come join you this weekend if your going spear fishing? maybe you can show me what gear to buy and some basic on spear fishing, i have snorkelled before , many thanks Rai
Hi Rai I'd love to help you get into spearfishing, I've had quite a few people ask but it can be a bit difficult to co-ordinate diving and all that. One of my dive buddies told me of a FB group called 'spearfishing Dorset' and it's really useful for meeting people/advice etc. If you want any more help you can email me, I will try and make videos in the future to answer questions and help people new to spearfishing!
Enjoyed the video, out of interest do you find there's areas of the UK with more crabs? Where I'm based (North Wales) there's absolutely stacks of Lobsters, but very few crabs off Anglesey, but quite a few Crabs off the Llyn. Am curious why that is
Cheers for the comment mate. Yeah I think some areas are better for crabs than others, not sure why. Portland is known for lots of large crabs, it sticks out in the channel with deep water, lots of current, mussel beds and lots of good rock to hide in. I don't see that many common lobster in dorset but I've caught a few spiny lobsters. I think you can find decent lobsters and spiders in very shallow water but generally the browns and spiny tend to favour slightly deeper water. I think Bardsey island is up your way and used to be good for all of these.
@@ryane8881 That's interesting, the marks I dive for lobster are very shallow and have found more crab in the deeper areas. Have you dived around Bardsey? Got absolutely mobbed be seals there last week! Were 20-50 of them around us, swimming laps of us when we were on the bottom
@@jackmetcalfe8542 I haven't dived in North Wales yet but I am very keen to. I've heard good things from divers in the past. The seals don't sound good. If you're boat diving then you just keep moving until you find a better area! Saw this video from ages ago at Bardsey, Check out the crabs at 3:30! I'm not sure if the commercials have hammered it since though! th-cam.com/video/VgTZy8nnJ0g/w-d-xo.html

Good to see you back in the water. I love fresh crab. In my opinion it’s among the very finest seafood!
Hope you have a good season ahead!

I have commented on this clip before, but i love it,
Thanks Ryan E
Thanks! It’s surprisingly popular!
Nice one Ryan, good to see you back at it and looking forward to the next one. Keep up the good work .
Thanks Corki, it was a slow start but it will get better!
cool video my friend, looks great. I hope you do more catch and cook videos
Cheers, hopefully I'll find some good fish this year and make some vids!

Which part of a crab should you NOT eat?
When you remove the body from the shell there will be gills (grey) and guts on the body that you can't eat... oh and I wouldn't recommend the shell!
Wow you were deep! No way I'd do that haha.
Thanks!
Looks delicious 🤤
Thanks mate, brown crab is my favourite sea food. It was very tasty!
Bloody beautiful 😫
Cheers mate
I thought you were going to catch crabs then release them back in the sea, I didn’t think you were going to cook and eat it 😅
ha the title 'catch and cook' kind of gives away what the video was about fella!
Ryan E touché
How big do you they need to be to keep them

Is there shark in the see?
yes but nothing that's likely to attack you!
@@ryane8881 I love fishing
Try using a chop stick to clean the body out.
Don’t have one and don’t need one!
The shell should be returned to water, either the sea or a river, don't throw it in the bin.
Why do you think that? I actually used them as decoration in my bathroom.

No better way to eat brown crab 🦀
Agreed 👍🏻
That’s how I like my crab ,to many people discard the the brown meat and eat the white meat only.what a waste
Agreed! I don't want to waste it and its good to keep it simple and tasty!
