With the shooter not noticing a proper cartridge discharge, wouldn't the first question be, is it a hang fire? Firearm pointed in safe direction and wait for 30 secs. Then extract cartridge and inspect for bullets presence and primer strike. The squib load is serious business. I'll bookmark this vid for a tutorial.

You could wait it out incase a bad primer. But watch for the squib loads for sure.
How about pour some gun oil in barrel first. Yes of course set the stock on the floor first and let it sit for a short time.

I would imagine that would work too. We usually have no issue tapping it back out with a cleaning rod and a blunt on the end.
