I got one that had Taylor Swift’s song Snow On The Beach for the cover, and that was it. No description. When I opened it, it was a sci fi book I read a long while ago and didn’t like 😭. I was able to return it though, it was from Barnes.
I got a book in blind dates that was almost 15 years old and I was disappointed that they didn’t try to promote new books or ones that weren’t as popular :(

i appreciate how sara does brand deals so much because when she doesn't introduce something as sponsored before she talks about something, i usually can't tell that shes doing an ad/brand deal until she gives the promo code or something like that

No shade to Sara as this comment isn’t directed at her. But it’s actually against the law in a lot of countries to not be 100% transparent and up-front about sponsorships. For example: They have to be clear, obvious and disclosed as ads as soon as the content is introduced to the viewer, or the portion where the ad is begins. It can’t be at the end of a caption, it has to be the first thing addressed in a caption, TH-cam video has to be clearly stated verbally and included in the description if any further details are added there. That’s why many creators start theirs with “this portion of the video is sponsored by….”. Otherwise you can be fined, and viewers can also sue you. If people believe what they’re seeing is an ad and it doesn’t specify ‘AD’ clearly and/or visibly they can sue the creator. #/soandsopartner, #/sp, #/sponsored, #/inpartnershipwith are not considered sufficient. Or saying “I’m working with”, “I’ve partnered up with” again are not enough because they can mean a lot of things for people who don’t know a lot about the industry. To some people it could mean a discount code, or a shoutout in exchange for products, therefore saying “this is a paid sponsored video”, “paid collaboration” before going ahead and selling the product to the viewer is the correct and safest way to do it. A lot of people don’t like using this language because they worry the viewers will think it’s not genuine, but in reality if you have thousands or millions of people who watch you, like you, support you, they’ll only be happy for your successes and understand that creators need ads to keep doing what they do.

@@athena4576 I did say in my comment that it wasn’t directed at Sara but actually clarifying that there’s a reason you might hear other creators being a lot more obvious about theirs. And a lot of people ‘watch’ TH-cam whilst doing chores, a screen pop up is easily missed.

I really love these types of videos because they introduce new books that aren’t super “trendy.” There’s nothing wrong with trendy books, it’s just that sometimes I wish I was introduced to other books that aren’t all over tik tok. So I really enjoyed this video, and I’m definitely going to be picking up a couple of these

TATBILB is sooooo good. I liked it better than movie adaptation because you get more of the sisters' relationships with one another. It is such a comfort book!

i watched to all the boys i’ve loved before when i was 12 and immediately became obsessed with it like everyone my age lmao! i read the series a couple years ago (way better than the movies cos only the first movie is good lmao) and i completely get what you mean, it feels so comforting and nostalgic, also the writing in this book feels so like normal like it’s a normal persona’s life idk how to describe ittt. i like it sooo much more than the summer i turned pretty and i’m so happy you read it :))

I read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in September and I honestly can’t remember much about it, but I have advanced a lot as a reader since then so I will probably end up rereading it! I feel you - it’s like I prefer cartoon covers over real people on covers but then I also judge them by thinking they’re all cute, fluffy romances. But like you said, I’d rather have low expectations and enjoy it than have high expectations going it and it doesn’t meet them.

My Barnes & Noble does a blind date with a book even when the promotion isn't running. I went to my Barnes & Noble a month ago. I asked if they still have blind date with a book event still going. They told me the event is no longer running for the time being. But they told me that they could still do it for me by telling them what genres I liked. Then one of the employees secretly picks out a book for you. They put the book on hold at the register. You don't know what the book is until after you purchase it. Till you get out to your car to see what blind date book was picked out for you. I love historical memoirs & fiction. The book that was picked for me was "The Librarian of Burned Books" by Brianna Labuskes. It was a book I didn't have. It's currently sitting in my TBR. Kudos to my Barnes & Noble still honoring the blind date with a book after the event was over.
OMG I SCREAMED WHEN YOU GOT GRACELING. I read this in middle school and reread the realm in 2022 (there was originally 3 books but she came out with 2 more in 2021&2022). I’m writing this before you actually have read it in the video so I’m hoping you liked it bc it’s one of my favorites. If you like the “enemies to lovers meets HGTV” premise, I recommend 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne. My mind went straight to 99 Percent Mine when you read the description on the blind date book. It’s super cute and has childhood friends as well as enemies to lovers.

OMG i have read the fantasy book you got. But in my mother tongue. I thought it was sooo good. I’m so happy you enjoyed it 🙏. Honestly feels like a shock that this book is famous since it feels like an underground book. But I GOT SO HAPPY when I recognized the book in your video, since you usually have read all the books before me🥹
I like the idea of not looking at the ratings because i’ve experienced when something is rated really high and i read it automatically i tend to give it a higher rating maybe subconsciously to fit in with everyone else’s review. Similar with a book rated badly i feel i might rate it lower because no one else liked it much 😂

I've read all of the Jansen Brothers series, and I recommend them all! I read the second book first as well because I had no idea it was a series (I also read the part about Noah's brother and his girlfriend and really wished there was a book about them...little did I know). I was so sad that I missed the first one and read them out of order, but I still went back and then read the third book. They are all great!
