How to treat acne scars- Dermatologist explains
Acne scar treatment is always bespoke, namely for top level Specialist treatment a scar revision program is always designed for the patient. This means not everyone will have the same acne scar treatments. I do not practice the ‘ 4 Fraxel get one Fraxel Free Package’ that many cosmetic practitioners advocate. Specialist, namely Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeons will - or should, find the best methods to treat your acne scar type.
So guys, as much as I would like to help you PLEASE don’t email me and say that you need my help, I can help you, but I need to examine your acne scars in person, namely a traditional face to face examination where I use MY angles of light, watch you animate and also touch your scars to see how tethered or thick scars are. This is the proper way to practice acne scar revision, and that is the only way I do things. After that you may need between one to 12 treatments- once again this depends on your scar type, skin type and downtime. Photos and words are not accurate. Now, here are some acne scar experts I know around the World. If I do not list anyone here, its is because I have not seen their work, but it does not mean they do not exist.

I do not know of anyone in India, Pakistan, Malaysia, or Europe, apart from the UK- Dr Nick Lowe ,Dermatologist, London. Dr Lowe was the pioneer of aesthetic and laser dermatology in Britian.
The first thing to do is to examine under tangential or angled lighting, as this will reveal all. Once this is done, scars can be subtyped and mapped, with high resolution photos. The second aspect, which is equally as important is to examine scars upon animanation, namely when you speak, smile and move your face. This will give me an idea of the amount of tethering and anchored acne scars. Time and time again I get request for ‘what is the treatment’ with static photos, an impossible task to answer correctly. Acne scar assessment has to be done live- with the patient in front of you, and lighting from all angles. Photos do not map scars as well a real time examination under magnification and lighting.
I then select the best method to address our acne scar type. Once again it is the method of acne scar removal that will give the biggest change. Taking note of your skin colour, I devise a plan that may consist of -
Ice pick scars are best treated with chemical peels such as TCA CROSS or punch excision
Rolling scars are best treated with fractional lasers Fraxel, INFINI Microneedling, Dermarollers, skin needling and subscision
Box car scars are best treated with laser resurfacing using a co2 or erbium laser such as Profractional
Atrophic scars are best treated with fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Bellafill, or even fat transfer
In this video you will see how Miss Issy got at least 70% of her scars permanent removed using collagen stimulating fillers, HA fillers like Juvederm, low density and spot CO2 full ablation, and most importantly subcision. She had multiple treatments over the year of 2016.
Very rarely do I scars that are uniform- namely lie in the same plane. If I have box car scars and shallow scars in a type one person, one can remove these with fully ablative lasers, including erbium or CO2 laser. One treatment, and they are gone. This procedure can only be done in the minority of scar types, and one has to have fair skin, or skin colour changes will occur.

I would do anything to get these treatments... everyday I wake up and I am so traumatized that my 24 year old face is covered in scars, all of my peers have clear beautiful skin and I find myself not even wanting to live because of the scars. I wish these treatments were covered by insurance because they are too expensive. I pray to God everyday that I can have clear scarless skin.

@@Islamicdeenodunia learning to accept myself with scars is definitely a journey… my skin is the same except I have done a few chemical peels that I think have slightly helped the scars but they’re still very much visible

Yes, .... that say it all.. she is one cool patient as well. Some acne scar patients are negative in their out look, namely they see the scars that remain.. she is exception as she can realises the massive improvement, but also knows I can not get her skin 100% correct. She still has 2 stubborn scars on the left cheek that I had trouble fixing. Possibly INFINI with PRP under technique would have addressed these.. but she was not bothered with those scars. I hope you had a great time in my hometown! It's really hard to find a good specialist here in Prague when it comes to acne scar treatment, though. I wish I could find someone who has the same approach you have - from my experience so far, most dermatologists around here behave like salesmen rather than doctors.

Trying hard to see what impact I can make on medical insurance companies to recognise this as a MEDICAL CONDITION and pay for revision. They recognise skin conditions like psoriasis and vitiligo as medical, so IMO the psychological and physical scars are indeed medical. Dr Davin Lim

You could do a video about how treat hypertrophic acne scars? I'm on accutane now and i have two, one on cheek and another in nose area, next of the eyes. They are small, but i don't like them. I'd like to know to if pacients with that type of scars can do a microneedling treatment, like Infine RF. And you know if anything will be realease in 2017 for acne scars? A new laser, filler, a protocol? I know that maybe Avita Recell will receive a FDA aproval in USA, but it's nothing new, if you know what I mean.

Aahhh her confidance just boosted through roof. You can see how happy she is she had tears in her eyes her skin looks amazing good for her very pretty girl good for her. Mines is not so bad but its there and ive gone the acid route for me but just using trentnoin 00.25% gel and my scars have fadded drasticly and my skin looks amazing. Im pre treating for tca cross cant wait i know its going be successful my face responds to well to creams acids and ointments. Just the right moisturiser and hydrating acne wash works wonders so i know its going to come out great cant wait!!!!

Is it also separating the epidermal scar from the connective tissue which is binding it down and causing it to be a depression? I am very impressed by your work and would like to know more please.

Did you use filler as skinbooster or a filler which gives more volume? Did you use the same filler needle for subcision before injecting? Would you prefer a cannula? How long did you wait for laser after injecting or was it in the same session? Which home remedy in between sessions would you recommend? What do you think of SR laser instead of CO2?

I have mixed mild rolling and boxcar scars and enlarged pores and I went to a medical dermatology clinic and had a complimentary consultation and it was recommended that I get CO2 (fractional and ablative she said but not traditional CO2 and my downtime is 7 days) It is only day 4 and most of the skin has flaked off and I see pink poreless skin, and I can't see the acne scars on my cheeks after only 4 days after my first treatment. I still see my largest scar which is on my nose between my eyes. I had my full face done due to texture since I have thick skin and she passed the laser on my cheeks twice. When I asked about subsicion, they said my scars are too mild and they would not do subscision on my nose but said it will improve with three rounds of laser and recommends a filler.
How are things for you now?
Does fillers go away with time and age? So you might need to redo the fillers?

I had a mix acne scars, i had do alot of treatment such as PRP, FRACTIONAL CO2, MICRONEEDLING AND SubCiSion. Feels like its not giving me any differences. I’ve been thinking to take filler do you think its good for my skin whilst my skin still having acne sometimes
