Thank you so much for this recipe. I’ve been looking for this recipe for years. I lost mine. When I was in elementary school in the 60s this was one of the desserts we had. They would spread it out into a sheet pan. Then cut it into squares. Love this. I’m 66 . Been quite a long time.

You asked about any other summer time desserts..no heat. I used to make a cream cheese lemon ice box pie. Delicious. No heat required. I brick of cream cheese, one can sweetened condensed milk, one third cup lemon juice, one teaspoon vanilla. Mix well, pour into graham cracker crust, refrigerate.

Ms Tammy this reminds me of a holiday treat I make . Called holly leaves. I would melt a stick of butter & 30 marshmallows which is a large bag. When melted add green food coloring to it. Then add about 3 cups of corn flakes. Mix well and drop spoonfuls on parchment or wax paper. Shape into a leaf and put a small cinnamon ball in the middle. They are so good. Love you Tammy keep cooking ❤️

I have made this for more than 50 years and got the recipe from a lady who was old then. My recipe specifically says to only heat until sugar and karo are melted. DO NOT BOIL! Immediately take off the heat, add peanut butter and then cornflakes. Put into a buttered pan. Then cut into squares. Drizzle with melted chocolate chips if desired. This is much better than trying to work with hot mixture and stays easy to chew.

    Hi Tammy,
I made this candy for my kids many times when they were growing up. I just want to thank you for sharing your cooking skills with us. I always like having a new video from you. You look great and seem like you are feeling better, praise God! I got your blending fork, green bean pot, and hand crank can opener during the prime day sales. I love all of them.

Tammy you could cook up a mud pie and I would sit here loving every minute of your instruction AND I would probably attempt to make it just like my momma did!! I do so enjoy your videos and if it wasn’t 2 am in the morning and my husband was awake I would make him some of this candy. I have some left over boxes of Crispix cereal that didn’t get opened for my party mix and I bet I could pour your candy mixture over that cereal. I have some toffee bits I could add or maybe a few chocolate chips after it cooled down. I am just thinking of all the extra things I have on my baking shelf that go into my homemade cookies. Thanks Tammy for another good ole recipe for just the right amount of sweetness to share with a neighbor or put in the candy box as a nice surprise after a busy spring day. ❤

I haven't had it since the late 60's!!! My stepdaughter back in the eighties made a rendition of it by putting peanut butter, stir in it, the corn flakes and the peanut butter, and then flattening it out and a zip block bag and putting it in the freezer. Then you just break it off and eat it. And that was really good, too! Especially in the summer.😊😅

My mother showed me how to make these as I was growing up. She said that during her early years of marriage during the great depression peanut butter and cornflakes were passed out by the government agencies to help people cope with hunger. She would plan and save to make these for a treat at Christmas. I love the ice box desserts that were popular in the 1950s when most people had acquired a refrigerator but no air conditioning by that time. I still make many of those today instead of turning on an oven even though I have air conditioning. By the way, we used less cornflakes because we liked the peanut mixture better.

There is an older recipe like rice crispy treats, peanut butter incorporated into the marshmallow and butter except sugar crisp cereal replaces the rice crispies, a 1/2 cup of raisins. Not clear on how many cups of cereal, but I know it gets pressed into a greased 13x9 pan, then dusted with 10x sugar. Also, I believe it was 1/2 cup peanut butter and a little more regular butter melted with the marshmallows. If anyone else knows of this recipe maybe they know the exact ingredients.

Corn flakes for dinner is still one of my favorites in summer. Especially this week, it's been over 115 everyday. And yes, the sliced banana makes it even better!

We ate raw from the garden a lot in the summer. Mom would also have lunch meat on hand at all times. It was too hot to cook with no central air. Never had these cornflake candy but they sure sound good. We had cereals on hand but were never allowed to eat them for supper.

Looks TOO good! Mom used to make protein balls but I don't have her recipe. I 'think' it was equal parts of powdered milk, peanut butter, and honey mixed together...formed into small balls ....then rolled in bran cereal. NO heat involved! A tasty quick boost of energy. I'm going to 'try' and find it online.
Something 'I'm' fond of is placing yogurt cups in the freezer for about an hour, and eating it...when'ever!' It makes a nice breakfast...or, bedtime snack...or, anytime at all. I like to put a container in the freezer at bedtime so its ready for the morning! : )

I just made this recipe the other day. It’s a lifetime favorite. My recipe says just bring it to a boil and then add in the peanut butter and then the cornflakes. My recipes makes a much smoother and prettier candy. Yours are too dry

Now that I'm older. I prefer salads for my supper. Especially since here in Florida. We're having heat index 107° and a 110°. ANY salad including just romaine lettuce with a strawberry viinaigrette!!! Ummm😋😋😋
