"I don't wanna be racist" dude no worries. I know some some decent Gypsies and they are also well aware about the negative stereotypes. In fact they are more then happy to warn people about them. For all the Americans and sheltered westerners: yes there is an ingrained culture of stealing and scamming people within the Gypsy community which is mostly kept alive by the elders who make a good living off of it. There are some places where it is better and these tend to be interestingly enough areas where people and noteworthy Gypsies themselves "demand" that the communities integrate into society, but there are also more "wild" areas where they just live out their worst stereotypes and alienate anyone of their community who doesn't want to be part of it.
Decent gypsies arent real gypsies. The decent gypsies are the children of the ancestors who married outside their clans and got banished out of by the gypsy clans for that.
Sad is that some of them (younger) want to live like a "normal people" and some of them even speak english, but as you sad, their elders force them live like "gypsies"
Those balls are wrapped silage bales. They are everywhere in Europe and North America and probably the rest of the world too. Come to Ireland and they are in farmyards and the corners of fields everywhere. The plastic can be any colour. Black is the most common and followed by white but it can be any colour. Sometimes you can see bright pink 🩷 when that colour is being sold to aid cancer research.
I mean, Lunik 9 is pretty infamous, known to be potentially the sketchiest place in all of Europe, especially if you don't know anything or anyone local. Even though, they are not that bad people, they were likely excited to see some foreigners come by
Lunik 9 used to be a "premium" settlement designed for police and army officers and their families in Socialist Czechoslovakia. Highly desirable address when it was newly built. Then some communist brain got a brilliant idea to also move in gypsy families. The theory was that example of the creme de la crop of socialist society living there would have positive impact on them and they will change their ways.... and also with so many policemen living there, they thought they will not be a problem. Communist megaminds forgot about one natural law though.... if you reach a critical mass of gypsies in one place, nothing can influence them. Lunik 9 became unlivable for young families very quickly and white flight started. Fast forward couple years and this is what is left. A monument to 700 years of failing to integrate them into European society.
it surprised me that you are Estonian... because it surprises me if you thought that eastern europe is anywhere near as safe as the west, or when you stopped by the hay field and they had hay bales wrapped to avoid weather (yes its not fermented grass... its wrapped hay that way it stays dry & clean during winters and rough weathers)
Hay ferments in those balls, it keeps them moist and full of nutrition as so it makes a better feed and has a specific smell. I grew up on a farm next to those things and most farmers use both options to feed their cattle.
Well, as Polish i can say eastern Europe doesnt look like its shown here xd Things shown here like architecture, run-down blocks and bad roads are rather exceptions, not standard Countries which joined EU developed very quickly and are now normal just like western ones
Well not exactly, there are many parts in Poland which aren’t as rich as the western parts, holes in roads, dirty apartment blocks, also, Poland only joined EU to get money, they don’t follow any of the rules
@@WildVikingTravels that kind of stuff you are going to see in France Spain Italy or the USA as well. Every nation has good and bad neighborhoods, just showing bad parts is not going to help. Im not rich and still interested of visiting Türkiye. Could you suggest a site to see their food prices in supermarkets? And how about the cost of street food? Where I live street food (burger or kebab with fries) is 10-15 eur so I cant eat outside.
Lunik 9 is the perfect example of people from India (gypsies from Indian state of Punjab) bringing their way of life to Europe. They are not a representation of Eastern Europe. We were stupid to let them destroy these areas. People in Eastern Europe welcomed them and this is what they do pretty much the same is happing in Western countries such as France where they have people destroying their cities and towns. Interesting fact, recent census (2021) shows that the number of Gypsies in Slovakia is down a lot but not because they left, it is because thousands of Gypsies don't consider themself Gypsies anymore, they don't want to be part of what you've seen in places such as Lunik 9 and that's a good thing. It looks like they are finally waking up and actually trying to become part of our society. Their culture and language is protected in Slovakia under the law for minority groups which gives them freedom to celebrate their culture, music and language but at the same time, they are choosing to live a European way of life. Many Gypsies in Slovakia actually live in regular houses and flats, work regular jobs just like other Slovaks and these ''slums'' are more and more rare which is great. Slovaks are very supportive of those who try to integrate into our society but you can't help those who aren't willing to do so and prefer to stay in these isolated areas where laws don't apply. Slovakia and Czechia are safer than the UK, France, Italy and so on but people will always look down on us because we are ''Eastern Europe''
Thank you for this informative comment. As we are from the so-called Eastern Europe part of Europe as well, this is the image what remains but true, there is a lot of integration.
When I looked it up it said they're closest "relatives" are Italians, and that Romanian is a romance language (derived from latin) and having many similarities to Italian, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, It says originally they are from India, but now I'd have to assume they aren't 100 percent Indian, are mixed with other European people's and are mostly born in Europe, so I'd say that yes they are European but have ancestors from southeast Asia and the middle east, Very interesting I was curious but it's basically exactly what I thought it was

Kosice in slovakia is my hometown. Lunik 9 was like this since ever. Gypsies got brand new apartments there and they managed to turn them into ghetto within couple years.
It's mainly fault of post 1989 governments that they have put them into one place, the same problem as here in Czechia in some places.
Thank you for sharing and writing this here 🙏
Sad is that some of them (younger) want to live like a "normal people" and some of them even speak english, but as you sad, their elders force them live like "gypsies"

I mean, Lunik 9 is pretty infamous, known to be potentially the sketchiest place in all of Europe, especially if you don't know anything or anyone local. Even though, they are not that bad people, they were likely excited to see some foreigners come by
As a Romanian I got scared every time while travelling in any major European capital The level of secis so low over there
Lunik 9 used to be a "premium" settlement designed for police and army officers and their families in Socialist Czechoslovakia.
Thank you for writing this here! Very informative and interesting. But also sad
...
it surprised me that you are Estonian... because it surprises me if you thought that eastern europe is anywhere near as safe as the west, or when you stopped by the hay field and they had hay bales wrapped to avoid weather (yes its not fermented grass... its wrapped hay that way it stays dry & clean during winters and rough weathers)
Hay ferments in those balls, it keeps them moist and full of nutrition as so it makes a better feed and has a specific smell.
I grew up on a farm next to those things and most farmers use both options to feed their cattle.
Well, as Polish i can say eastern Europe doesnt look like its shown here xd
Things shown here like architecture, run-down blocks and bad roads are rather exceptions, not standard
Countries which joined EU developed very quickly and are now normal just like western ones
Well not exactly, there are many parts in Poland which aren’t as rich as the western parts, holes in roads, dirty apartment blocks, also, Poland only joined EU to get money, they don’t follow any of the rules
@@lavienx6510 What do you mean by not following rules of EU?
Yeah, as we are native Eastern Europeans as well, Estonia is also not that modern everywhere and there is a lot of poorer areas as well

Gypsy are not European there are from India … we have problém with them in whole europe
When I looked it up it said they're closest "relatives" are Italians, and that Romanian is a romance language (derived from latin) and having many similarities to Italian, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, It says originally they are from India, but now I'd have to assume they aren't 100 percent Indian, are mixed with other European people's and are mostly born in Europe, so I'd say that yes they are European but have ancestors from southeast Asia and the middle east,

Kosice in slovakia is my hometown. Lunik 9 was like this since ever. Gypsies got brand new apartments there and they managed to turn them into ghetto within couple years.
This sounds like an unsolvable problem altogether.
It's mainly fault of post 1989 governments that they have put them into one place, the same problem as here in Czechia in some places. I don't want to say that commies were better, but they were able to do some things better, like mix roma people between other people, not concentrate them in one place.
They just need help to change the negatives of their culture & better job opportunities. They’re clearly welcoming but lonely.

That’s because some people demand the worst stereotypes.
They are very problematic.
rasicm = life experience, wisdom
A smart person learns from other people's mistakes, a stupid person doesn't even learn from his own mistakes, other people only learn from their own mistakes.
Europeans already have 700 years of experience with Gypsies. Let's learn from this!
Yeah, they were a big problem in Poland in '90 and early 2000. F**ing thieves and beggars. Always avoid them, no eye contact. Thanks god they moved to West when we joined EU.

The stereotypes don’t happen for no reason.
They are historical behaviors that became civilization typologies or archetypes.

To me it didn't look like that people had bad intentions whatsoever. It looked more like they wanted to greet you. Also, the Roma are a quite closed community, if a stranger is driving right in that, that attracts attention.
Maybe you are right... we did not stick around long enough to challenge our luck

But there are still many people who think that old fashioned way....
Still every country has it's good things and not so good things. And some countries require more investigation of places to go and places rather not going to, than others. I myself feel, and probably agree with you, that Eastern Europe is still more corrupt but I might be wrong. Let's hope so! 😃
