This is incredible! Robert Winley was my uncle who I never got to meet but heard all the amazing stories of the great human he was and this is such an amazing tribute to him! Uncle Robert was the most kind person anyone would ever meet and it was a very sad day when he was taken from us by cancer. I’m certain he’s looking down listening from Heaven! Thank you for this

Wow, Tesia! You're very welcome, and thank you SO MUCH for the kind words! I was hoping someone from his family would see this, so I'm very glad that you did! That makes my day. I'm so glad you liked it... it was a real honor for me to make it, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! Eventually I plan to follow this up with a special "extended version," with (hopefully) more photos or Mr. Winley, as well as additional audio of stories from his friends that I didn't use in this video. I'm also hoping to possibly get a chance to talk with other family members who can tell me more about him. If you think that your Dad (or anyone else in the family) might enjoy sharing photos or stories with me, I'd love to make some connections!
Feel free to connect with me via email - Tfor2show@gmail.com. If you'd rather not, that's perfectly okay, too! I certainly don't want to pressure anyone. 😊
Thanks again for the kind words, Tesia... I'm so glad you enjoyed this!!

I wish I'd found this earlier. Bob and I were great friends at the University of South Dakota '73 t0 '75. He and his wife, at the time, Leslie, took me with them when they returned to California, and I stayed with them in Hollywood at Demille Manor for a while, then in one of the suburbs, Glendale? But I got on Leslie's nerves and went to the bay area. At USD, Bob was amazing. Great actor, and an amazing voice. My family lived in Sioux Falls, and we would visit them for weekends and some holidays, and they all just loved him. My dad said he had the face of Richard Boone, and the voice of Robert Goulet. He was a great influence on me and treated me like a little brother. I have always regretted losing track of him, but rejoiced in seeing him on screen, big and small. He was the one man out of the incredibly talented people we both worked with in theatre and music at USD Fine Arts, that was rising to the level of his outstanding talents. I miss him terribly and think of him often, and all the adventures we had in those years.

Oh wow! Thank you for sharing that, David. I wish I would have found you when I was making this, so I could have asked you to be a part of it!
People have enjoyed this video so much that I have considered making a "Part 2" one day... or maybe an "extended" version, which would include more of the audio that I didn't use from the interviews I already conducted for this one, plus new voices... Would you be interested in sharing your memories with me over the phone one of these days, for when I get around to making the next video on your friend Bob? If so, I'd love to connect with you!

Wow. This was absolutely incredible. I understand now why this episode took a bit to put together. What a great look into the life of a character actor that not many people would recognize outside of this role, but obviously had a long and fulfilling career.
When you started this channel I was excited to see more about merchandise that I might not be aware of, and never expected to go down this road, but damn this was incredible work. As a fan, thanks for putting this together. I'm sure Robert's friends and family will love this.

This was fantastically done, and such a wonderful tribute to one of the most underappreciated character actors out there! I watched "T2" the other night (for the umpteenth time), and I always think about the "cigar biker". You echoed my own thoughts, in that how he says his line, "You forgot to say please," there seems to be an intelligent and sensitive guy behind that grizzly face. I sometimes imagine that, when he goes home from hanging out at the bar every night (except that night, of course), he's a big teddy-bear who dotes over his kids/grandkids. Now I need to check out your other videos!!

@@ChrisPorterMusic I hear you! I've discovered a few channels over the years that I really liked, but they had already released (and continued to release) so many videos that it was hard to keep up. Everyone keeps telling me that the key to growing a channel is to release videos as frequently as possible, but I'm not interested in just uploading half-assed videos as quickly as I can film them. Quality is FAR more important to me than quantity. I don't care how long each episode takes to produce - I'm not going to release them until I think they're as good as they can be.

It's weird... during this whole process of interviewing these guys, and then spending hours and hours and days going through all of his movies and TV appearances in order to harvest his clips, and then chopping up these interviews and sorting the audio clips, and organizing them and arranging them with the different video clips... I sort of felt like I knew Mr. Winley in some small way. And I actually started to miss him, as though I myself had somehow lost a friend, which I think stemmed from the fact that I knew I would never get to meet him or interview him, even though I spent such a crazy amount of time looking at his mug and hearing his voice and the voice of his friends.

I kinda started to feel like I knew him. And I even found myself getting a little choked up, on occasion, at the thought that I would never get to meet him. Because by the time he had died, he wasn't an inaccessible mega star, you know? So he was someone who I more likely would have had the chance to meet, and to me, guys like this are more exciting to meet than guys like Schwarzenegger or Cameron, simply because they're not all over your news feed all the time... They almost seem a bit more "rare" or "special" to me, if that makes sense. There are 1,000 Arnold Schwarzenegger autographs for sale on ebay... but if you want a Robert Winley autograph, you won't find one, you know? Just my weird way of looking at it.
But that's all irrelevant anyway, because if he were still with us today, he'd probably be a WAY bigger star from starring in Sons Of Anarchy, so he probably wouldn't be as "accessible" anyway, haha. It's all very interesting to think about.

Really glad that I stumbled onto this. Thanks for putting this together. I first met Robert on the set of Pale Rider, he and I were two of the bad cowboys that faced Clint Eastwood. Later we both ended up as day players in Near Dark. Soon after Pale Rider we ended up in acting class together and became good friends. He was a great guy, closer in character to the Crystal Cathedral Christ than the litany of bad guys that paid the bills. He had some great stories about his days in the Glory of Easter! Kind hearted with a great laugh and one of the smartest people I've ever known, very well read. He was at our wedding when my wife and I got married in 2000, just 50 or so yards from the Merry Go Round in Griffith Park. I was with him a lot during the last year of his life. He really did go too soon. One of the good guys.

I don't monetize my channel, because 1) This show is a passion project, and I don't care about making money from it, and 2) I don't think getting a few dimes per video is worth making the viewers sit through ads. But I've heard that the TH-cam algorithm apparently isn't as quick to recommend content from channels that aren't monetized. So it's good to hear that it got recommended to you!

I just stumbled onto your vid of the Winchester and instantly clicked with it. Your obvious love of the movies pours through and there are not many in my life that share the passion of that story. Very cool.
Last year I held a 1887 and could have had it for $1,110... At the time I decided I didn't want to blow a grand on a gun I was going to cut up to resemble the same that I had imagined hundreds of times as a kid. Man I regret that decision... 😔

I don't make a nickel from this show - it's actually a fairly expensive hobby, haha - so nice feedback like this is literally what keeps the show going! Thanks, man! I definitely have a ton of episodes in the works, but production has slowed a bit since my wife and I had our first kid a little over a year ago... However, I've made some big improvements to the set and my editing setup to try and make production more efficient, so hopefully I'll be able to get back onto a semi-regular routine before long. I would LOVE to be able to pump these out at a rate of one episode every month. We'll see what happens!
In regards to the shotgun - wow, that's pretty amazing that you got to hold one in person! $1,100 doesn't seem too bad for an original, but... I totally understand your decision to skip it, and I probably would have ended up making the same decision. Not only are there other things that I would have rather spent that money on that I would have gotten a lot more use out of (like a guitar or something), but if you're just buying it for display purposes, you can get a really nice metal and wood airsoft rifle for way less, and it can still look really nice (that's what I have, and I'm happy with it for display purposes... And for gags on the show, haha).

That character always caught my attention. Robert Winley would've been huge in the lead role in Sons of Anarchy and been a huge star.

There's a scene in part 1 that's panning through the police station, and a guy in the background is raising hell and trying to resist arrest (with his hands cuffed behind his back).
