YES!! Thank you!! I honestly just thought that if at least ONE person would notice that sort of stuff, it would be worth it, haha. And even if nobody notices that stuff, I still like to do it because I'm sure it still has an effect on the viewer in a way where the show just has a nicer feel and flow to it, you know? But anyway I'm rambling. Part of the reason these episodes take so long to edit is because of that sort of stuff. I put a lot of time (probably way more than necessary) into adjusting little things so that sound effects and music cues and everything has nice pacing and synchronicity like that. So to have someone comment on it like you are is really cool! Makes my night, man!
Finally, it's been 84 years. Solid season opener, no faffing about and straight to the interesting stuff. I could go on to write an insightful and praising comment but I've decided to harp on about one little mistake you made... Quite frankly, T-1000 was literally teased quite heavily in the pressbook, ackshually: 7:59 T2 logo on the cover. 8:22 Metal pole in the background of the Linda Hamilton picture. 8:25 Doorknob in the picture with Terminator. 8:27 Belt buckle on the security guard. 8:52 Handlebars of the bike Terminator's riding. I was going to go through the entire 25 minutes and 53 seconds to find pictures but turns out I'm actually not that committed to a joke this lame.
HAHA! Brilliant. For a second you had me legitimately worried that I said something wrong, because a lot of this video I was sort of figuring out as I went a long and translated the pressbook, and I just started kinda noticing things and putting it together. So I'm always worried that I'm going to be way off on something and make myself look like an idiot, haha. It took me a few moments to realize that you were making a joke! 😂

That's a heck of a collection of memorabilia! The bobble head on your desk is something I've been trying to get hold of for 13 years! I only have the John and Sarah ones.
Oh thank you! I wish I could display more stuff, but I only had so much space for the set, so I had to settle with just occasionally swapping stuff out instead. As for the bobbleheads, it sounds like you have the John and Sarah ones released by Sideshow? They also made the Terminator and T-1000. I think those ones have become somewhat rare these days. The one on my desk is made by NECA. Unless things have changed drastically, you should still be able to find one on ebay fairly cheap (?) I think I saw one not long ago for like $20. NECA also made an Arnie, but he's a bit more rare. And I'm glad you liked the episode! This is the first one that had a fair amount of background music through most of the episode, and I really like how it keeps the pace moving. The next one (The Hollywood Premiere) also had music through a lot of it, and I'm really happy with how that one turned out, too. That's the most recent one.
@@Tfor2show I think they are the Sideshow ones. (I haven't got them to hand as they are stored in the attic at the moment!) I bought them at Universal Studios in 2008 and John and Sarah was all they had. The likenesses are great, considering the proportions are so zany!

Frankly, I'm still pissed at the studio about the TV! And I plan to write a strongly worded letter to the CEO about it. However... I'm glad you dig it! And I'm super glad you enjoyed it enough to stay tuned! My goal has always been to try and keep the episodes no more than 5-10 minutes long, and I still hope to maintain that limit as much as possible, so I was concerned about how long this one ended up being. So to hear that it kept your attention is a big relief!
Definitely have a talent for keeping it interesting all the way through, and kudos for the nostalgic commercials and the cowboy "we'll be RIGHT back" totally forgot about that. Brings me back to 92, what an awesome year, one of my favorites

@@chrisvetor Awesome! I haven't read John Connor Chronicles yet, but I've read the Stirling trilogy. Yeah, Infiltrator is the first one. I will say that, in my personal opinion, the first two books are amazing... but I absolutely HATED the third installment. Didn't even finish reading it! But that's just me. I highly recommend the first two to ANY Terminator fan, and it seems like most people enjoyed the third book, so maybe you'll like it, too! I'd love to hear what you think of them!

Oh yeah! I definitely plan to cover all of the toy line in time. The only reason I'm spreading it out so much is because there are so many episode topics I have planned, and I don't want to run out of toy topics too quickly. Hello Tfor2 this was yet another wonderful video. I do like how the logo for Terminator 2 looks like in Japan. The way they cut the trailer to make the T-800 still look like the villain was very clever. I already knew Arnold had starred in commercials in Japan but I hadn't seen the one you showed in this video so that was amusing to see. By the way if you want an alternative translation program asides Google Translate I recommend using DeepL. It seems to do a lot better often in translating sentences though it can be finicky as well but that's just machine translation in general.

I got to show my wife the movies and she got to see the second with the "twist" that the Arnold Terminator was there to protect John. I was very excited to show her from this light, and just another excuse to watch the movies again... "The cop is the BAD one!?"

So I take it you obviously share the original trilogy with your wife first? I think it's insane when people introduce friends or family to Star Wars and have them start with Episode I.
@@Tfor2show Always go by theatrical release date people! The movies were made and seen in the order they were made. Don't worry about "timelines" and all that. There is a reason some movies like Iron Man start with the bombing scene and then rewinds, the story needs told in that order.
@@MBXfilms Exactly. I never understood why people want to watch things in chronological story order, rather than by theatrical release order. I'm almost surprised that those same people don't make their own special cut of The Terminator where they remove all of the future war scenes and tack them onto the end of the movie, haha. It's sorta the same thing, but it's still wrong.
What a way to start Season 2! The new set looks absolutely killer! Was definitely worth all the time, money and effort! It's unbelievable you designed and built the whole thing on your own 😃 Camera Man will be missed, but I have to admit that the new camera operator does a pretty decent job as well. He just needs a little help holding onto his stool 😉 The design of the Japanese press book is truly impressive - just like the job you did translating it. I feel tempted to mention the 'god hand job' thing, but all the good jokes are already taken, so I guess I'll just skip it 🤷😆 I find it really interesting that the Japanese campaign for the film release focused so much on preserving the mystery around the main plot twist. The difference between the two trailers says it all. I guess there are pros and cons to both strategies. Revealing the plot twist in the trailer shows the audience that they're in for a completely different experience straight away, which I suppose is a good thing, if you're afraid that some people might get discouraged by the idea of T2 being 'more of the same stuff' as T1. You're getting initial expectations higher at the cost of a lower surprise factor during the actual viewing of the film, which I guess is always a tricky calculation you have to make with movie trailers. I have to say that my early viewings of T2 as a kid were pretty fragmented - just loose scenes here and there. I had the plot twist spoiled from the very beginning, so that element of surprise is not something I'm personally attached to, just because it wasn't part of my experience. Anyway, the story of how I discovered and fell in love with T2 is way too long for this ridiculously bloated comment, so I'm gonna leave it for another day 😜 Like you said, I feel like the Japanese campaign really had a lot more 'faith' in the film. They kept the film's best tricks up its sleeve until the end, and, judging by the box office numbers, it really paid off. I'm also guessing that they didn't bother trying to promote the image of Robert Patrick or the T-1000 because they really didn't need to. The Japanese audience was crazy about Arnold (as that Cup Noodle ad proves 🤣), so all they had to do was to make sure he remained the film's main selling point. That's just my theory, anyway 😛 Also, I didn't fail to notice that the Japanese trailer includes a fragment of the controversial dream sequence, which we already discussed in the past. You know my views on it, so the Japanese trailer has my heart ♥️😆 There's more random silly stuff I could comment on, like the idea of Arnold sitting on a makeup chair for three hours listening to Austrian Christmas music (😂🌲🎅🎼) or your cute doggies, but this comment is already getting pretty long as it is. You really did a god hand job with this episode (sorry, couldn't help it, after all 🤷✋). Can't wait to see what's next! (Is it really *the* shotgun?! 😲) BTW, I watched the episode with my mom, and she really enjoyed it. She says you're very talented and charismatic and funny and... basically awesome. She also says that you could give any TV presenter a run for his money, so there's that 😉 さよなら、赤ちゃん! 😂😂😂

You make an excellent point about how another reason they may not have needed to rely much on the T-1000 for marketing because Schwarzenegger was already basically a god over there. That's an excellent point. Over there he was probably more popular than he was over here! In regards to Cameraman... no, he will not be missed. In regards to the pressbook... I didn't translate it ALL on my own. Did you see the on-screen text at 21:20? 😁 I experienced the film in a similar way as a kid. I mean, I saw it all in one sitting when my parents rented it one night, but I already knew he was the hero from the toy commercials and everything. It was mostly from repeated viewings over the years that maybe sometime in high school I started to realize, "Wait a minute... they CLEARLY wrote this to make it seem like the Terminator was trying to kill John until the 'Get down!' line!" And then I started getting a little resentful that that big shocker was "taken" from me, haha. I cannot WAIT until I have kids to share these movies with, and I'm going to do everything I can to preserve the twist for them and see their reactions. Might even share it on the show if it's good! Yeah, it is pretty interesting that they used a clip of the dream sequence in the Japanese trailer. I think they were trying to drive home the idea that Sarah was all alone, just her and John, and maybe kinda try to suggest that she was now in the "Reese" role. I didn't fully think about that until I was editing this episode together, otherwise maybe I would have commented on it. Then again, this episode was already long enough, so that might have just ended up being among the "deleted scenes" that I trimmed from this. ✂️ You're the first person to comment on the pups! 😁 I didn't plan to include them, but they were laying on the couch during the last day of filming (yeah, this one took three days to shoot, because the script was so heavy and I kept messing up my lines), so I thought it would be fun to throw them in there at the end when I was filming the shots of the set. And, finally... I'm so glad your mom enjoyed it!! Tell her I said hi. 🥰

Didn't know they actually had a history together or who John's dad was or anything 😅 The fact that T2 became one of my favourite films even when I had no clue of what was going on says a lot about what a masterpiece it is. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Eventually I'll be covering T2's release in just about every country. They won't all be as in-depth as this one, of course, because a lot of them don't have a ton of interesting backstory or marketing materials or unique domestic merchandise. But Spain, Germany, and the U.K. will be among the more interesting ones. Some of the others will likely end up lumped together in small groups. Japan will probably the most interesting. There's so much stuff to cover that, as you saw in the "Japanese Pressbook" episode, I'll be chopping that up into many individual episodes. TONS of stuff to cover on T2 in Japan! Can't wait to dig more into that one.
Theory: early 90's tip tier CG (T2, Jurassic Park) still holds up because they had something to prove, spentvm tons of time polishing it. So much since then CG has been treated as a procedural step made "good enough" by lesser artists with tighter deadlines. T2 using it as a tool along with practical fx is important as opposed to it being THE tool. I watch reaction channels with T2 sometimes. They're generally all surprised at the twist. We were ROBBED! They sold it to us as Arnold's the good guy even though the structure of the movie is set up for the hallway reveal.
I couldn't agree more, man! I think CGI is best when used to ENHANCE practical effects, not to replace them unless absolutely necessary. The best example in modern cinema that I can think of is Spike Jonz's "Where The Wild Things Are." The wild things were all actors in actual suits, and they simply used CGI to enhance their facial expressiveness. And it looked SOOO good! I'll have to check out some of those reaction videos you're talking about! Normally I've never been interested in seeing other people reacting to stuff, but the way you're describing people reacting to T2 for the first time sounds pretty cool! Hey, that's a neat idea! The problem is, probably 85% of my collection isn't on display, because I don't have room on the set. So I'll be occasionally freshening up the set by swapping things out. Maybe I'll do a little tour one of these days on the Tfor2 Instagram or something... 🤔
I wish a Japanese publisher had acquired the licenses for the games, like Konami or something. The only disappointment of T2 is that all the games were pure trash. Even the arcade game -- although an amusing novelty -- wasn't a good, fair game. I think SEGA would have been better suited for the arcade game because they had a lot of experience with 3D and cutting edge graphics even back in '91. And it would have been fitting because one of their arcade games was shown in the movie.
There isn't a single thing you just said that I disagree with. I'll be covering the original T2 game for the NES soon, and... I'm not exactly excited about it, haha. But man, your idea of SEGA getting T2 instead of Midway... That could have been something really special!
@@Tfor2show Nice and thanks for the reply! Japanese games have always been superior, especially in the 80s and 90s. Western games were mostly junk, especially the movie-based games, except for a handful of titles like DOOM. (Fox approached id software early on to make it an Aliens game -- particularly James Cameron's movie.) id probably would've been the only good American or western choice for a Terminator game! And yes, SEGA did a nice job on the Jurassic Park arcade game from 1993. The very first one that was common in Chuck E Cheese's that had the rocking booth. If I could change our timeline like Skynet attempted, I would make things like this happen haha, and maybe ensure that T2's cut lab complex scene was filmed and made it into the final cut. nice channel!!

@@chrisvetor Awesome! I haven't read John Connor Chronicles yet, but I've read the Stirling trilogy. Yeah, Infiltrator is the first one. I will say that, in my personal opinion, the first two books are amazing... but I absolutely HATED the third installment. Didn't even finish reading it! But that's just me. I highly recommend the first two to ANY Terminator fan, and it seems like most people enjoyed the third book, so maybe you'll like it, too! I'd love to hear what you think of them!

But if nothing else, don't miss the Cigar Biker episode, and the Final Battle Fighting Game! Those are my favorites!
But DO NOT watch the "Tfor2 Reaches a Major Milestone" episode. That one is embarrassing for me, and I'm still upset that it's available online. I'm in the process of trying to convince the studio to take it down so that no one ever sees it again.

Oh yeah! I definitely plan to cover all of the toy line in time. The only reason I'm spreading it out so much is because there are so many episode topics I have planned, and I don't want to run out of toy topics too quickly. But I'll probably be doing another episode on the Kenner line this season!
And... sequels? You mean like the books? I'll be reviewing them in future episodes too! I really enjoyed the S.M. Stirling sequel trilogy novels (well, except for the 3rd one). But yeah, I'll be covering all of that! 😀

Hello Tfor2 this was yet another wonderful video. I do like how the logo for Terminator 2 looks like in Japan. The way they cut the trailer to make the T-800 still look like the villain was very clever. I already knew Arnold had starred in commercials in Japan but I hadn't seen the one you showed in this video so that was amusing to see. By the way if you want an alternative translation program asides Google Translate I recommend using DeepL. It seems to do a lot better often in translating sentences though it can be finicky as well but that's just machine translation in general.

I got to show my wife the movies and she got to see the second with the "twist" that the Arnold Terminator was there to protect John. I was very excited to show her from this light, and just another excuse to watch the movies again... "The cop is the BAD one!?"

So I take it you obviously share the original trilogy with your wife first? I think it's insane when people introduce friends or family to Star Wars and have them start with Episode I.
@@Tfor2show Always go by theatrical release date people! The movies were made and seen in the order they were made. Don't worry about "timelines" and all that. There is a reason some movies like Iron Man start with the bombing scene and then rewinds, the story needs told in that order.
@@MBXfilms Exactly. I never understood why people want to watch things in chronological story order, rather than by theatrical release order. I'm almost surprised that those same people don't make their own special cut of The Terminator where they remove all of the future war scenes and tack them onto the end of the movie, haha. It's sorta the same thing, but it's still wrong.

What a way to start Season 2! The new set looks absolutely killer! Was definitely worth all the time, money and effort! It's unbelievable you designed and built the whole thing on your own 😃 Camera Man will be missed, but I have to admit that the new camera operator does a pretty decent job as well. He just needs a little help holding onto his stool 😉
The design of the Japanese press book is truly impressive - just like the job you did translating it. I feel tempted to mention the 'god hand job' thing, but all the good jokes are already taken, so I guess I'll just skip it 🤷😆
I find it really interesting that the Japanese campaign for the film release focused so much on preserving the mystery around the main plot twist. The difference between the two trailers says it all. I guess there are pros and cons to both strategies. Revealing the plot twist in the trailer shows the audience that they're in for a completely different experience straight away, which I suppose is a good thing, if you're afraid that some people might get discouraged by the idea of T2 being 'more of the same stuff' as T1. You're getting initial expectations higher at the cost of a lower surprise factor during the actual viewing of the film, which I guess is always a tricky calculation you have to make with movie trailers.
I have to say that my early viewings of T2 as a kid were pretty fragmented - just loose scenes here and there. I had the plot twist spoiled from the very beginning, so that element of surprise is not something I'm personally attached to, just because it wasn't part of my experience. Anyway, the story of how I discovered and fell in love with T2 is way too long for this ridiculously bloated comment, so I'm gonna leave it for another day 😜
Like you said, I feel like the Japanese campaign really had a lot more 'faith' in the film. They kept the film's best tricks up its sleeve until the end, and, judging by the box office numbers, it really paid off. I'm also guessing that they didn't bother trying to promote the image of Robert Patrick or the T-1000 because they really didn't need to. The Japanese audience was crazy about Arnold (as that Cup Noodle ad proves 🤣), so all they had to do was to make sure he remained the film's main selling point. That's just my theory, anyway 😛
Also, I didn't fail to notice that the Japanese trailer includes a fragment of the controversial dream sequence, which we already discussed in the past. You know my views on it, so the Japanese trailer has my heart ♥️😆
There's more random silly stuff I could comment on, like the idea of Arnold sitting on a makeup chair for three hours listening to Austrian Christmas music (😂🌲🎅🎼) or your cute doggies, but this comment is already getting pretty long as it is. You really did a god hand job with this episode (sorry, couldn't help it, after all 🤷✋). Can't wait to see what's next! (Is it really *the* shotgun?! 😲)
BTW, I watched the episode with my mom, and she really enjoyed it. She says you're very talented and charismatic and funny and... basically awesome. She also says that you could give any TV presenter a run for his money, so there's that 😉

You make an excellent point about how another reason they may not have needed to rely much on the T-1000 for marketing because Schwarzenegger was already basically a god over there. That's an excellent point. Over there he was probably more popular than he was over here!

I experienced the film in a similar way as a kid. I mean, I saw it all in one sitting when my parents rented it one night, but I already knew he was the hero from the toy commercials and everything. It was mostly from repeated viewings over the years that maybe sometime in high school I started to realize, "Wait a minute... they CLEARLY wrote this to make it seem like the Terminator was trying to kill John until the 'Get down!' line!" And then I started getting a little resentful that that big shocker was "taken" from me, haha. I cannot WAIT until I have kids to share these movies with, and I'm going to do everything I can to preserve the twist for them and see their reactions. Might even share it on the show if it's good!
Yeah, it is pretty interesting that they used a clip of the dream sequence in the Japanese trailer. I think they were trying to drive home the idea that Sarah was all alone, just her and John, and maybe kinda try to suggest that she was now in the "Reese" role. I didn't fully think about that until I was editing this episode together, otherwise maybe I would have commented on it. Then again, this episode was already long enough, so that might have just ended up being among the "deleted scenes" that I trimmed from this. ✂️
You're the first person to comment on the pups! 😁 I didn't plan to include them, but they were laying on the couch during the last day of filming (yeah, this one took three days to shoot, because the script was so heavy and I kept messing up my lines), so I thought it would be fun to throw them in there at the end when I was filming the shots of the set.

Now that I think about it, for me the plot twist actually came from watching the first Terminator and realizing that Arnie was actually the bad guy. I guess I used to think that Sarah was just scared of him because he was... well... a terminator. Didn't know they actually had a history together or who John's dad was or anything 😅 The fact that T2 became one of my favourite films even when I had no clue of what was going on says a lot about what a masterpiece it is. You don't even need to understand it to be blown away by its awesomeness 😎

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Eventually I'll be covering T2's release in just about every country. They won't all be as in-depth as this one, of course, because a lot of them don't have a ton of interesting backstory or marketing materials or unique domestic merchandise. But Spain, Germany, and the U.K. will be among the more interesting ones. Some of the others will likely end up lumped together in small groups.
Japan will probably the most interesting. There's so much stuff to cover that, as you saw in the "Japanese Pressbook" episode, I'll be chopping that up into many individual episodes. TONS of stuff to cover on T2 in Japan! Can't wait to dig more into that one.
Theory: early 90's tip tier CG (T2, Jurassic Park) still holds up because they had something to prove, spentvm tons of time polishing it. So much since then CG has been treated as a procedural step made "good enough" by lesser artists with tighter deadlines. T2 using it as a tool along with practical fx is important as opposed to it being THE tool.
I watch reaction channels with T2 sometimes. They're generally all surprised at the twist. We were ROBBED! They sold it to us as Arnold's the good guy even though the structure of the movie is set up for the hallway reveal.
I couldn't agree more, man! I think CGI is best when used to ENHANCE practical effects, not to replace them unless absolutely necessary. The best example in modern cinema that I can think of is Spike Jonz's "Where The Wild Things Are." The wild things were all actors in actual suits, and they simply used CGI to enhance their facial expressiveness. And it looked SOOO good!
I'll have to check out some of those reaction videos you're talking about! Normally I've never been interested in seeing other people reacting to stuff, but the way you're describing people reacting to T2 for the first time sounds pretty cool!

Hey, that's a neat idea! The problem is, probably 85% of my collection isn't on display, because I don't have room on the set. So I'll be occasionally freshening up the set by swapping things out.

I wish a Japanese publisher had acquired the licenses for the games, like Konami or something. The only disappointment of T2 is that all the games were pure trash. Even the arcade game -- although an amusing novelty -- wasn't a good, fair game. I think SEGA would have been better suited for the arcade game because they had a lot of experience with 3D and cutting edge graphics even back in '91. And it would have been fitting because one of their arcade games was shown in the movie.
There isn't a single thing you just said that I disagree with. I'll be covering the original T2 game for the NES soon, and... I'm not exactly excited about it, haha. But man, your idea of SEGA getting T2 instead of Midway... That could have been something really special!
@@Tfor2show Nice and thanks for the reply! Japanese games have always been superior, especially in the 80s and 90s. Western games were mostly junk, especially the movie-based games, except for a handful of titles like DOOM. (Fox approached id software early on to make it an Aliens game -- particularly James Cameron's movie.) id probably would've been the only good American or western choice for a Terminator game! And yes, SEGA did a nice job on the Jurassic Park arcade game from 1993. The very first one that was common in Chuck E Cheese's that had the rocking booth. If I could change our timeline like Skynet attempted, I would make things like this happen haha, and maybe ensure that T2's cut lab complex scene was filmed and made it into the final cut. nice channel!!
