Does henna come as black or brown henna unless a chemical substance is added to it. Natural henna is red
We have black, different shades of brown, and red henna available.

Hi Bella! We are unsure of what you mean by "normal henna". Please see the mix instructions below:
For use with RED henna, please use 2.5 TBSP of amla
For use with BLACK henna, please use 2.5 TBSP of amla
For LIGHT BROWN henna, please use 2 TBSP of amla
For MEDIUM BROWN henna, please use 1.5 TBSP of amla
For DARK BROWN henna, please use 1 TBSP of amla
For LIGHT BLONDE henna, please use 2.5 TBSP of amla
To use amla alone as a hair treatment, please mix the entire packet of amla with warm water until it has a yogurt-like consistency

Can you add the Amla to your indigo for brown hair as instead of with the henna.
We recommend following the instructions with come with each Henna Package to reach the desired color. Hopefully that helps!
So I bought the Alma should I use it the first time I do the light blonde henna in my hair? Im just confused because it says omit the tea and lemon if you use it? I have naturally curly wavy hair and didn't want to lose my curls. Or should I wait and add later after I dye it with the blonde henna. Thanks!

When using the amla powder with the light blonde henna, you will still use the light blonde tea, but omit the lemon juice.
We recommend using amla to prevent your curl pattern from loosening.
I have natural red hair, now turning grey/dishwater red. Always use red henna but decided to try amla with it this last time. Left it on 2 hours as usual - but nothing happened, no color no coverage, no nothing. So strange.
If I want to use Light Blonde henna on my already blonde hair, but want to maintain my waves, should I add amla powder to the henna mix or do it as a hair treatment after separately? I'd also like to use coconut milk in my henna mix for conditioning purposes. I've never used the light blonde henna but I've used regular red henna a few years ago and I LOVED how thick my hair got. I'd just like to stay blonde this time. Any advice?
You can add amla to the light blonde henna to help tone down any brassiness if you are concerned about that. If not, you can use amla by itself as a conditioning treatment to help restore any lost curl patterns.
On your website with the amla instructions, it says to add amla to brown henna powder, then use indigo and don't add directly to indigo. I wanted to try the medium brown henna, and I'm confused b/c the ingredients says it does include indigo. So is it ok to mix amla with the medium brown? Do I need to add additional indigo for the amla to work? Won't that be too dark?
When you add amla powder to the medium brown you mix the directed amount of amla powder in with the henna packet and slowly add water until you get a yogurt consistency. You let that mixture sit for 8-12 hours. Once you are ready to apply it to your hair, you mix the indigo packet with water and then mix it in with the henna and amla mixture.
You just want to avoid mixing the indigo and amla together and letting that sit as that can prevent the indigo from releasing dye. If you have any other questions, please email us at support@mmhair.com

The amount of amla that you use depends on which color henna you are using. 12 oz is approximately 3 packages of our henna. You would need to triple the amount of amla needed depending on which color you used. can I use tea decoction in this mixture
Why can't you use apple cider vinegar and the oil with amla? Would it effect the color?
Amla is an acidic ingredient and using it with the apple cider vinegar can make the henna more drying on your hair.
Is Amla powder going to change my light red hair color?

You can use the amla by itself of chemically treated hair, however if you use it with henna then you need to wait at least 6 weeks after your last chemical color application.

We just recommend using water as your liquid when you are adding amla to the henna.
To mix Amla powder with brown henna, I understand that I need to mix Amla with Henna and separately prepare Indigo. I try to summarize the steps below and please let me know if I am right: 1) mix amla with brown Henna powder and with warm water and let it sit for 8-12 hours; 2) mix Indigo with warm water (how long do I need to let it sit for?); 3) mix everything together and immediately use it.
