    If the price of the Mavic Air 2 drops i will consider buying it but not the Air 2s because I think the updates that it has personally don't convince me to buy it. Yes the one inch sensor it's huge but with the Mini 2 that I have and fly a lot (I have flown it in night time) it shoots amazingly well so the mavic Air 2 has a half inch sensor bigger than the Mini 2 so for me that is a lot and it's enough. I don't care about the more obstacle avoidance sensors that the Air 2s has because I never use them.
    For me and it's my opinion the better choice for everybody out there that doesn't own either of these two drones and considering to buy some drone is to go with the DJI mavic Air 2.
    Oh and the flight time is less on the air 2s like I saw in your video so that's a downgrade not an upgrade.

    Nice test 👍. I think a lot of energy is also taken up by the internal processors - the air2s generates noticeably more heat. I tested battery depletion over 10 mins of just being powered on (no motors running). Air 2 dropped 3%, air2s dropped 6%. That means over 20mins of flying an additional 6% battery will be used up just by heat generation.

    I came to the air 2s from the air 2 for the sensor. It does take amazing low light photos but the flight time is cut short tremendously compared to the air 2 specially when flying very high (350m).

      @@Droning-ONFYI HalfChrome did a flight time test with the A2S that combined some gentle flying along with some hovering and he got 25mins. I kind of wish that the Drone manufacturers would just start listing hover times as this is something that the consumer can effectively measure (and thus allowing us to keep them honest). I don't think I've seen anyone ever do a gentle forward flying test that has exceeded a hover test. So it would seem that the flight times listed are really unachievable. Kind of like miles per gallon in cars. Maybe I'm wrong.

      @@Droning-ON Ok lets put it another way ,what are the manufacturers stated MPG for your car ?? and no you cannot achieve this .neither drones achieve the stated figure, no dji drone does if im not mistaken ,the figures stated by DJI for the air 2s air flown in normal mode at 12mph ,it does not say in a hover ! i average about 27 mins from my old Air 2 never 34 mins.

    Nice job, been waiting for this test ^_^
    So the Air 2S flies a little less time, as expected. Air 2S weights a little more, and has more CPU consumption due to the higher quality camera, extra sensors and the extra antennas.
    One thing in favor of the Air 2S is that it cruises a little faster in normal mode thanks to the upper sensors (9Km/h faster), so if you need to travel a bit to the shooting site they'll end up having about the same usable airtime.
    I'd say that having a better camera and better connection to the controller is more significant than a few minutes of flight time (you have 3 batteries with the combo anyways).
    Also, the batts being interchangeable between both models is a good point.

    A slightly used Air 2 is by far the very best bargain for a drone you can find these days. Great photography is about much more than sensor size. I picked up an air 2 fly more combo for $500. Perfect for drone fishing.

    Can one buy bigger batteries? It can easily carry more load.

  • @Geekinions
    @Geekinions 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As expected then. The new electronics including 2 extra antennas, gimbal, and sensors all contribute to power draw and weight. I'll have to wait until I get my A2S in hand next week to see if I notice a difference myself between it and the MA2, but from looking at videos it seems the LED's may be brighter too? That would also contribute to the power draw. But ultimately, each drone received 5 minutes less flight time than their stated max time for a hover test and that sounds about right. Pretty good for both and nothing to be disappointed with on either model.

    • @Droning-ON

      there is a 5% tolerance in mah when produced ... so in this case they may differ by something less than 200mah at max but they could.it depends from lithium purity that vary stock by stock and even due to production 'precision'

    • @Droning-ON

      Forward flight is more efficient than a hover because when hovering the drone is constantly changing direction to counteract wind etc. Forward fligit without radical tilt and movement can optimise battery and only marginally.

  • @MrRoombato
    @MrRoombato 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, but no this is simple, as mentioned in the review, it's weight 25g heavier. You can't beat physics, weight reduces flight time.

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Droning-ON That's about 5% heavier. If you want to be scientific about it, tape a 25 gram weight onto the Air 2 and see if it cuts flight time down by 3 minutes. I would bet good money that it won't.

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielbroomhall8882 Of course it’s longer. But why? 25 grams? Strap a 25 gram weight to an Air 2 and see if you lose three minutes of flight time (you won’t!). I believe the Air 2s has a shorter flight time because of the more powerful gimbal, the extra sensors and, probably most importantly, the more powerful O3 signal transmission.
